I don't know whether someone already tried to do this, most likely the answer is "yes", but I've tried to do it by myself anyway.
2 days ago I was passing throught a nightmare trying to figure out how to make emissions of light points make influence into objects at night.
Searching on Internet, I found a technique and I improve it importing a texture template to it work out like an ambient texture.
Results:
In this general look, you can see lights perform influence at surfaces:
finally shadows:
things next to lights become more clear, for other hand which ones are far from lights, become darker.
it works with the people too
...and trees
The additional work isnt too painful if you considering the reward. I really loved the results and I will apply this technique to my all next jobs.
Isn't perfect yet, cuz I'm conscient tha I should use spotlights instead of points of lights. I'm improving this method. I hope someone like to help me to improve it. It will be a very large step to a better night experience in stadiums.
