Superamazing game trailers that take advantage of the Wii controller :)

I wasn't the least excited about Nintendo's Wii or watever revolution... but having seen how FLEXIBLE the motion sensor is, and how great the graphics are, well Wii is definelty back in the competition :D

(NB - The PS3 controller is an only 6-axis motion sensor. From these Wii videos, I believe the motion detection is unlimited on the Wii controller)

Now check out these gems: (dunno if they were posted b4)

Tennis on Nintendo Wii
http://hight3ch.com/post/tennis-on-nintendo-wii/

...wow. WOW. If only they removed the childish graphics and replaced them with Virtua Tennis 3 realistic style PS3 graphics.... I wudn't go play Tennis outdoors anymore.

Wii’s Red Steel Footage
http://hight3ch.com/post/wiis-red-steel-footage/

...now this video SUMS it all. It tells u 'exactly' what the Wii controller is capable of doing i.e. Everything.

Notice when the guy twists his hand, the gun on the screen twists too... super.

Sonic E3 Trailer
http://hight3ch.com/post/sonic-e3-trailer/

Just admiring the graphics on this one.

Bravo Wii. If only the PS3 controller had the same capabilities.

That's f*cking amazing man. I've always thought that the main advantage of playing FPS on PC instead of consoles was the control issue... Keyboard + mouse > any control pad u know. But seeing this footage... OMG this must be the most immersive sensation ever. And if we could play old titles (N64's Perfect Dark) this way it would be incredible. Can't wait :)

All the details have been released now

http://wii.com/

"When will the Wii release?”

The Wii release date is November 19 in North America, December 2 in Japan, December 7 in Australia, and December 8 in Europe. As promised by Satoru Iwata, all of the launches are taking place within a three week period, and before Thanksgiving as well as under $250 in North America.

“How much will the Wii cost?”

The Wii will cost $249 US in North America, which includes a copy of Nintendo’s Wii Sports (boxing, bowling, baseball, golf, and tennis). It will cost about $219 in Japan, but that doesn’t include Wii Sports.

"What will the Wii (in North America) come with?"

With the Wii in North America, you'll get:

-the system (only in white at launch)
-one Wii remote
-one nunchuck
-sensor bar and stand
-all the necessary cables
-and manuals and a pretty box

From what we know, Virtual Console points and a classic controller are not included with any region, but I have heard that Virtual Console points will be given out with purchases of the Classic Controller in Japan.

“How much will the accessories cost?”

The remote will cost $40, the nunchuck will cost $20, and the classic controller will be $20.

“How will the virtual console work?”

Nintendo announces that 30 games will be available by the end of the year in North America, and starting January 2007, 10 games or more should be added each month. Games will be purchased with points, and will cost about $10, $8, and $5 for N64, SNES, and NES games, respectively.

“How do I go about preordering?”

This seems to be a tricky case depending on the retailer. Some stories such as Toys R' Us are already taking preorders, but in my personal opinion, that may not be safe because they don't know how many systems they will get yet which could cause some problems around launch time.

The forums are buzzing with EB Games/Gamestop rumors, but the most logical one to me sounds like the one where EB Games and Gamestop managers, as well as managers from other stores are going to be going to a Wii launch conference where they will find out the information about launch allocations. I have confirmed this with my local EB. I've seen a few topics saying the conference is the 20th and to begin asking about preorders Monday or Tuesday. That might be your best bet.

“Most importantly, what about the launch games?”

The launch games have been the most confusing to some, so here’s the confirmed list for North America for launch day games. Nintendo announces that their games will cost $50 US. The list from Gamespot:

Excite Truck (Nintendo)
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo)
Wii Sports (Nintendo, included with every system)
Call of Duty 3 (Activision)
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (Activision)
Rapala Tournament Fishing (Activision)
Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam (Activision)
World Series of Poker (Activision)
Trauma Center: Second Opinion (Atlus)
Madden NFL 07 (EA)
Need for Speed: Carbon (EA)
Elebits (Konami)
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz (Sega)
Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII (Ubisoft)
Far Cry: Vengeance (Ubisoft)
GT Pro Series (Ubisoft)
Monster 4x4: World Circuit (Ubisoft)
Open Season (Ubisoft)
Rayman Raving Rabbids (Ubisoft)
Red Steel (Ubisoft)
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Double Agent (Ubisoft)

“Any differences for the Japanese and European launch titles?”

Yes, there are a few differences. Here’s the Japanese launch day list from IGN:

Trauma Center: Second Opinion (Atlus)
Elebits (Konami)
Machi Kuru Domino (Success)
Necro-Nesia (Spike)
Super Monkey Ball (Sega)
Swing Golf Panya (Tecmo)
Wing Island (Hudson)
Kororinpa (Hudson, action-pinball)
SD Gundam Revolution (Bandai Namco)
Ennichi no Tatsujin (Bandai Namco, festival-styled mini-games)
Tamagotchi no Pika Pika Daitouryou (Bandai Namco)
Red Steel (Ubisoft)
Wii Sports (Nintendo)
Wario Ware: Smooth Moves (Nintendo)
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo)
Hajimete no Wii (also known as Wii Play, collection of mini-games with free Wii remote)

Europe’s list seems to be much like that of North America expect for Nintendo's offering of Wii Play instead of Excite Truck for a third first-party launch title.

I think I am going to get this instead of a 360 ( TBH its pretty crappy ) or a PS3 ( alhtough I plan on getting that one in a year's time ). I really like the look of the Wii and its $250 which is a good price I think. Hell of a lot better than paying $600 for a PS3.

to get it, or not to get it... im debating heavily. i haven't owned a gaming system in 8 years but this one just seems ******* cool.

i can fit it into my expenses, i just dont know if ill use it enough. any soccer titles confirmed for the Wii yet?

Haha If you have the money to easily spend on it, I say why not! I'm so going to get it myself! Just think about how fun one could have with it.. a different way of playing games. :mrpimp:

Kader, can i just say how much i love your sig (H)

oh and EA will probably release FIFA for the Wii, however little use it makes of the controller.

there's a "Konami Soccer Title" in the works too according to IGN. That's all they're saying for now, but I'm guessing we can assume it's a winning eleven..

I'm wondering if it'll be possible to download the old ISS games from that Wii download and play thing..

Tom

I would expect so, the controller can just be used normally, so that SHOULDNT be a problem.

PS3 already having problems with backwards compatibility problems in Japan apparently.

Well, if it's not WE then it's probably ISS, which would be awesome (ISS 2000 is my favorite soccer game of all time)

As for the old ISS games, Konami already announced their support for the virtual console so I'm sure they'll have them for download.

If only there was a way to replace the Wii Tennis' childish graphics, with Virtua Tennis' graphics for the PS3, this would be the perfect machine.

I don't understand why Nintendo insists on making childish graphics for most sport games, when the Wii is clearly capable of handling extremely impressive visuals.

Great machine, of course. (esp. for a family)

A Konami soccer title for a Wii...

Imagine flicking your right hand quickly to produce a Ronaldinho flip-flap.
Or drawing a quick circle to do a feint (with the legs doing circles over the ball)...
