The CPU just didnt want to do any other cross apart from a low one.
Sometimes it seemed they did a low cross for a shot Almost scored as well the buggers.
Overall score rises to 9/10

I finally got one of the versions working but it records at 5fps!!!???
I used to get at least 15
I have a xp 3200+, 6600gt gfx, 1.25 GB ram... are ur system specs higher, cos the videos u recorded were smooth.
any suggestions?

Hey a higher score!!! I won't complain there buddy haha. Well I use the latest version of FRAPS but always got higher framerates. I think your specs are actually higher for graphics card. I would put it down to some settings somewhere. Do you have anti-aliasing on your settings? Try turning down some of the fancy settings and it might run at a smoother framerate, remember that the software is taking thousand of VERY high quality piccys every tiny second haha, so the less 'going on' with the graphics the easier it'll probably do its job.

My ram is 1x 1GB pc 3200 (ddr 400) and 1x256mb pc 3200. I don't really notice any probs with other games... Just today I recorded some footage of garry's mod for half life 2 and it recorded at over 25 fps! so for some reason fifa is pooped.

I'll try decreasing all settings... i tried setting the resolution to 1024 but tht didn't seem to change anything : - /

haha just played semi-pro England (me) Vs Brazil (CPU). I lost 3-2 and was winning up to half time 2-0. Then in the second half they came at me and scored some beautiful goals! Players' like Ronaldinho and Ronaldo out-skilled me and got past my defenders using step-overs and other such skills. In fact Ronaldo scored by using step overs past one of my defenders and hitting the shot straight into the top corner, out of the keepers reach. When I was winning 2-0, I was thinking 'And I thought I'd made it challenging!!!' I was dissapointed, even if it was semi-pro, but I tell you these Brazil boys don't care what difficulty mode you're on they'll take shots from all over the field!!

Check out the results, they just took shots like I did from far out very often. Usually say in V6 and V7 the CPU will try and work a good chance, but in V8 they just take shots like I did from all over the place!

Hey NK. I'm sorry to worry you on release day, but I think that the Semi Pro is better and maybe more difficult than World Class :-/
I have been testing out the gameplay for about a week now on world class difficulty and winning every game up to a max 3-0. I just read you last post england v brazil and you lost 3-2. I played england v portugal the other day, went down 0-1 but then managed to get into the game and score 3 to end 3-1.
So i wondered to myself do you test pro difficulty and world class difficulty
I have just had a match semi pro level and lost 2-0 against barcelona with chelsea... my first semi - pro match for ages I am going to play the same game again, but with world class difficulty to see how it goes. I'll post a comparison of the match facts.

NO V8 RELEASED TODAY!

The update is being held back for development and for a complete over-look. I will be adding in new updates and better gameplay. I've found out ways to improve the gameplay and wish to implement these changes now rather than wait another month. V8 has no release date as of yet.

I won't release an update that appears harder on a lower difficulty level. I know the reasons why this is and it is baaad! So I'll revert back and start on new CPU values to get it right and working on slowing the pace of the game down.

I think the semi-pro level is fine and you should use that as a base for the world cup and legendary difficulties to make them even harder. I think that if semi-pro is already difficult, yet still playable, and it was, then making the higher levels even harder will provide already experienced players with a new learning curve, like having a new game altogether. I think that the amateur level should be easier for those that still want a good fair game that can be won, but still felt like a slight challenge.

In fact maybe a tweaked version of the current semi-pro level should become the new pro level difficulty, and from that the gameplay difficulty can be upped for the higher 2 levels, and reduced for the lower 2 levels. Am i making any sense?

I've made the CPU play a lot more unpredictable with their runs and passing. They aren't perfect at tackling or taking on players' they can be tackled much easier if the player isn't capable, you can also out-run defenders. I have a goal I just saved with Owen, a lovely through ball, i think by Becks played in front of Owen, he out-ran the brazil defender, I got control of it, outran both of them, they tried tackling me but I was too fast, got into the box, took a shot and the keeper got a save to it, but not enough to keep it from flying towards rooney's head, so a lovely diving header and the keeper juuust missed it. I was to make the score 1-1 since Brazil came forward first. This needs to be tuned properly, but the fundamentals are playing much better now. I won't release an update unless I think it's up to it. And V8 as it was didn't have enough about it to push through and please the gamers who I aim for. The CPU pass quicker but really try and take you on. It's quite pressurising when they come forward now and shoot and try to dribble past you, because its a feeling that doesn't keep you safe knowing that these players' with high skill attribs' will make use of it now rather than just pass the ball away like before in V6/V7, they keep hold of it and try and 'do ya!' a bit more like V5, except smarter and tighter!

ok so i can make the gameplay much harder, but it also requires an unbalancing between CPU and user which would make CPU keepers better than the users, although the way CPU players' shoot in comparison to a user/human is much less varied, despite the accuracy resulting in a harder game, but nothing that appears unrealistic and annoying.

I’m sure a few wondered why V8 wasn’t released. Well, the game has been slowed down. The ball physics are much more realistic and may take a bit to get used to if you’ve been playing the faster game of V7. The CPU has had a makeover resulting in a much more realistic game and defending is tighter and harder to break through teams. World Class games feel like world class matches, challenging and pressuring and games on semi-pro will cut the user some slack, but still try to make it rewarding to win. The design of CPU is similar to the balancing of V3. This makes for some interesting battles against a dangerous CPU. Matches are slower and more tactical. You can really break a defence with a good long ball and notice the pace between players’ and strengthening. You can take on defenders and make good chances. No longer is scoring easy and goalkeeper saves taken for granted. You appreciate every shot your keeper ‘keeps’ out, especially in a tournament.

shooting: it's too easy to hit the net from long distances
-> smaller blue area and faster rising of shot meter

fouls: make more fouls from CPU but i don't mean sliding tackles...some fouls with body or maybe hands (but thats impossible to make) but in fifa world cup is something like that when you hit the player during the sprint...the hitted player falls down

goalkeppers: in v7 they're really ballanced but sometimes they forgot to rush!!! they freeze on the goal line and are waiting!!! make them more agressive in the box

Yeah dude have a go at it.

As for the latest V8 build, the ball physics and player speeds are having work to slow everything down. But I've got to make the football feel like you're kicking a football and not a rock or a balloon. I'm pretty close to having something that is believable.

The CPU is better at taking on your players', slowing the game down, keeping hold of the ball and making more runs. It feels, actually more like you're playing someone else, or close to that rather than a computer that passes quickly and makes very short sprints with the odd skill.

The balancing of keepers is in there, but not in values, not for now anyway. If I find ways of getting around it, then I will bring back 'total balancing' for the keepers. But right now, the game is running on a CPU 300, USER 19. So it's a pretty big gap in goalkeeper skill, but because of the tuning, the CPU misses more shots than before and you can still put them away, you just don't get cheap goals.

Look at the results attached below. Let me explain what it says, because this is close to the V8 build that will be released. I was England in this game and did win on penalties, skipping extra time. The match was tight for me, everything is slowed down and reduced, no more super-fast players' and ball physics, this is <b>tactical</b>.

So, plenty of CPU shots, no goals and a few shots from myself no goals.

This is the beauty of the update; it keeps score lines down and action a-plenty! The CPU keeper is good, no wait....he's great! Not superman, not unbeatable, but tuned with high skill and reactions. He'll save your little crummy shots that when you used to score left you feeling empty with the words in your head "this game is too bloomin easy". On the other hand breaking through to even have a go at the man between the sticks is harder than before. On your side however, the 'user' team, your goalkeeper is quite beatable, VERY, VERY beatable! More so than the CPU keeper. Lets face it, you download this update because FIFA 06 is easy, stale, not entertaining you because the game doesn't challenge you and pressure you at ALL to score! So, if you get plenty of shots in on World Class they'll have to be pretty damn good!! And your defending will have to be amazing! But the CPU shooting is tuned so that;

1) Very accurate
2) Ball physics allow CPU to miss much more often
3) CPU will rarely score a 'super goal' from far out, most go over the post.


Also, cheap headers are harder, you CAN score, but most, like PES5 will go over the bar, wide, not on target.

The ball physics are much slower, you might need to get used to them. But it's been a long time since V2 with the football 'balloon' in space, and I've learnt plenty with FIFA 06 since then to know what looks right and works and what doesn't look right.....and obviously does not work! This however, satisfyingly does! And it's about time!!!!!

The game is harder, much harder! No more flashy amazing goals left right and centre, you feel like this 'If I'm going to score, I better get better!' and that for ONCE is a positive feeling. Semi-pro feels like semi-pro and World Class IS World Class! I won't even bother with Legendary.....it'll be very difficult I know that, I am yet to get a profile to unlock the darn option to use it!!! But I know the values of these variables and that from World Class to Legendary; you'll need to be good! No scrap that....BLOODY GOOD!

Right, I'm going to test this out. And remember that this update will be for skilled players', those who find it a walk in the park, NOT casual gamers who will complain about the difficulty. After playing hours on V8 I tried out my V7 and scored instantly on World Class, me as England Vs Brazil (cpu). It was disappointing. This game was played after V7 using my latest V8 build and it was refreshing.
