V9 is practically finished now, all this week will be testing! And then some more testing

Just so you know, the matches are really quite different now. Some games you might score 2 or 3 goals, in others you'll be lucky to get the draw and for me...in some I've just been totally beaten! I created my own tournament knockout with the best clubs in the game (for me anyway), so I picked my team Man_u and my first knockout was arsenal. I could NOT get through the first round, kept loosing 2-1, 1-0, at one point I had to quit the game cause I was loosing 4-1 and had no chance of a come-back. Then I FINALLY beat them 2-1 JUST (had to play using all my tactics + man-marking, THE LOT!) then I had liverpool and beat them 2-0!!!! Then I played Lyon and beat them 3-2 (came back from 2-1 
) and my final will be against AC Milan. I haven't played it yet, I'm saving that match. There were only 16 teams in the tourny.
So far though, every goal I've scored has been rewarding cause I've worked my as* off for it and winning the game knowing you've knocked out that team is so fun. Plus they fer REALLY aggressive, in one match I played the CPU had like 6 fouls and I got frustrated too and had like 5. The games can get to you now, well they did to me. I thought that was really good how it angered me, then made me feel great when I scored and won.
You REALLY have to defend now and sometimes that won't even help if Ronaldinho cracks one in from outside the box when he's unmarked for a split second! Seriously, the key players' on teams stand-out. Anyone that enjoyed V8, and believed it was my best, the best update out there...will be happy that V9 is basically a HUGE improvement over V8.
I'm playing all this on level 1, but I know that on each level you can still crack some screamers in. God knows what'd happen if I played a tourny using level 3 world class. I'd still be trying to beat Arsenal!

playing world class v8 is sorta getting easier for me now, not the shooting part but creating goals, tho sometimes the CPU could be on crack or smthg and attack n defend like gods. however im starting to create chances with no defenders at all guarding my foward lolz, its starting to get fun . cant wait for v9

V9 is harder, I've noticed that you gotta REALLY try...well I have anyway. If I just try and breeze through the match, I'll be down 2-0 before I know it. I personally have got to use tactics and play sensible football, although sometimes you can go all out-attack if you want to risk getting countered. It's the most fun I've had with FIFA.

oh sh!t i just played my final as man-u V ac milan and LOST 3-2 in extra time!! :boohoo:
I scored a great goal with scholes in the 12 minute, outside the box, great build-up, scholes manages to find some space, powered up and shot beat keeper, hit post and went in. The physics of the shot looks better than ever before! So for almost the whole game I was up 1-0. Ac milan should've scored at least 2 goals against me, but I got lucky and also defended pretty damn good against their attacks, sliding in the box and taking the ball not the player. I was risky, but I got the upper-hand. And just at the end of the match, well almost near the end, I do a stupid header to their attack who just cracks it past my keeper, JUST after he'd made two amazing saves one after the other. 1-1. So extra time and coming into the last few minutes of 1st half ET, They foul Ronaldo....it must be 35yrds out or more. I powered it up, saw the shot go over the wall, outreached the keeper, hit the top corner and STRAIGHT IN!!!! I was wanting to cheer loud but by girlfriend was/IS asleep right now hahahha, she wouldn't be best pleased. So what do the bloody Ac-milan players' do? THEY BLOODY RESPOND! Straight away they broke through my defence like a knife through WARM butter, Shev' hit the ball past my keeper, top corner, in 2-2. Then on 120mins they win a corner and header the ball past me again 3-2. THE SHAME! I was soooooo close too, I could smell victory, but I've made the CPU give it all it has to win a game and I felt it did in this one, great, GREAT game...loved it. Shame I didn't win though.

You mean it went in, but hit the bar again or beat the keeper, hit the bar and refused to go in? If it didn't go in..... :boohoo: these are very sad times...lol. I know how it feels though.
And Dino, indeed the World Cup update, I believe is the best I've done for that game and should be the most challenging available. But there's something about the gameplay-engine I just don't like in the world cup game, whereas FIFA 06, I think is actually better when using my gameplay design.

why that? I thought the WC-Edition gameplay is more advanced than the one in FIFA 06 ?! Let me know what You think... how does the update work on slow speed ? I like to play it slow 'cause it's more realistic IMO.

Well the update will run just fine on whatever speed you choose to play it on. The game will sort it out for you. As for the WC gameplay, I think the CPU isn't as 'attacking' as FIFA 06. Although I've improved it a lot, and they counter-attack better, and come forward quicker with more skill...they still don't have that same edge as the CPU in FIFA 06 using V9. on the other hand this could be down to the advancements I've made in 06 as to the new update for World Cup. either way It'll be the best you'll play, well...most challenging.

Yup, the CPU sure does attack more than in V8. In some games you might have the 1st half to yourself, then all of a sudden thanks to new intensity variations, the CPU will put on the pressure to beat you in the 2nd half! It's cool and throws your play off guard when you think you're in total control and how 'easy' it is. In fact I won a game earlier 1-0 on world class, great game...inter milan (me) v B.Munich (cpu), I scored early on and that was all it took. They should've scored at least 1 goal, but hey my defence was working out for me, man-marking their strikers and wing play, my tactics were all in my favour. So I played a game of England V brazil (cpu) without tactics, just straight default play and went down 2-0 pretty quickly. I'm telling you, if you don't try, the CPU exploits your weakness. EA programmed the game this way, but I've enhanced it thanks to quicker tactical changes and much higher skill.

Was funny earlier when I played against my bro, drew 2-2 + ET, went into penalties, took first penalty (me), hit post, then game CRASHED! :boohoo:

oh that is a shame my friend, very sad indeed haha, I have missed plenty of shots and hit the post in V9, but I myself in V8 found the game rather difficult to score from long-range.

but i think the shooting has improved a lot, the only thing missing is low shots which you seem to have mastered seeing some of the beta material
Indeed, the low shots are much better now. It's more like they were in V6/7 except it's harder to score with them then before.
I tried playing my comp' again, same teams so I was against Arsenal, drew 2-2 then lost in penalties haha. The idea of V9 is for the game to be beatable, but that the CPU does try really hard to win. It's a good feeling to beat them.
