Chivas fielded 5 starters. It needs to be said as well, Charleston has a few injuries so they weren't 100% either. Charleston hammered them.

Most teams fielded reserves. DC had two starters, they were playing a PDL team though.

Kansas City has no excuse for that mess though, I don't care who played. I've had the displeasure of watching the Thunder this year and they are RANK, just a terrible team.

It's nice to see Wilmington and Charleston advance though, they help form the bedrock of American soccer. True grassroots teams built on a solid base, even if they aren't the biggest towns in the world. I'm biased, but the Carolinas really have some of soccer's hidden gems.

I wish some rich guy would come along and decide that the Southeast (aka Charlotte) needed a team. I swear I'd be a devoted season ticket holder and one of the leaders of the fan groups.

I have so much European passion held in me since I'm not able to attend Steaua games, it saddens me.

You should come out to a UNC Charlotte game sometime Bobby. I'll be easy to spot, I'm the guy leading the chants in the front row. Before I started going to games everyone just sat around not knowing what to do.

Freddy Adu scores 8 minutes into the Gold Cup. Of course he does. Really nice run by Rodgers to get the assist, although who knows if he could have done it against real defending.

Stuart Holden makes it two-nil on a header. Pretty good Reagan Derby so far, one of the better ones in recent memory.

Pretty good prospect. Strong showings in youth tournaments. Spent some time in Holland with Heerenveen before coming back to the US. He hasn't produced much numbers-wise for Columbus, but he's always creating difficulties for the opposing defense, and he demands a lot of attention from defenders. Very fast, very good dribbler, good finisher/passer/crosser of the ball. Equally good with both feet. Lacks consistency and concentration, but hopefully that will improve with age.

Seattle Sounders forward Nate Jaqua has been slapped with a civil lawsuit accusing him of sexually assaulting a college student in Portland two years ago.

The $10 million lawsuit was filed on Tuesday, almost two years to the day when the accuser says Jaqua raped her in a cemetary.

What is it with the Sounders and date rape*? Is this evidence that MLS is finally becoming a big league, like the NFL or the NBA? And does the victim know that she's lucky if Natezilla (aka the Baby Giraffe of Doom) has $1 million in the bank, let alone 10?

*Allegedly. ALLEGEDLY.

I heard Jaqua was an okay guy, I don't think he did this. Pissing on someone in a graveyard is something Ice Cub wouldn't even rap about, let alone Nate Jaqua do.

BTW, Alex. How amazing would an SSS on the Memorial Stadium land be?

How in the world is Grenada ranked 88th in FIFA's rankings? It's a team of semi-pro players from a country smaller than Sioux Falls, SD. They're currently ranked higher than Canada, El Salvador and Guatemala. I know it's the FIFA rankings, but baffling nonetheless.

Thinking about that just made me very happy and then incredibly sad because it'll probably never happen.

Yeah I was wondering that too. I described Grenada as a "Green Bay select team" the other day.

If Mexico loses to Guadeloupe, it's really going to make my day.

I'll be the first to say it wouldn't shock me if they Guadeloupe plays like they did, and Mexico did in their respective games.

By the way, that second goal has to be the goal of the tourney so far. Corner pocket.

Edit: found it. 1:16 in the video.

That is a ridiculous signing. It made my mouth drop. I don't know if he's good enough to play for Milan, I really don't but I seriously hope that he succeeds.

It's really interesting considering Milan have a big problem at center back and aparently aren't looking to make any more signings. Who do they have at CB? Thiago Silva, sure. Other than that? Nesta (major injury concerns), Kaladze (injury concerns), and Bonera (is he that good?). Onyewu will have an opportunity.

And even if he doesn't, I think tactically and technically he's going to make vast strides by training with Milan. Too bad Leonardo is the coach, and not Ancelloti.
