What the hell is Mexico doing? And why were there 3 players sent off in their match against Panama? What happened?

It all started when Aguirre kicked one of the Panama players for an unknown reason. Then at the end of the match, Mexican fans started throwing items to the pitch, hitting one player twice.

That was a joke. It was pathetic. Not only did Mexico play like ****, but were easily instigated by the Panama players into scuffles pretty often. About ten minutes into the game, I could already tell that it could potentially get ugly.

I stopped watching after that dude got hit with the bottle, but I know the played up to like 10 minutes of stoppage time. It was ridiculous.

Big game tonight, and all because Beckham is back and "committed" to L.A..... for the next couple of months. After this current drama that was been created because of this new book "The Beckham experiment", I will be looking forward to see the crowds reaction to him.

As much as I have new found respect for Beckham over the past 2 years... I think Donovan was spot on in what he said. Understandable that DB wants to keep in the England frame but he's been trying to have his cake and eat it these last few months.

Nice goal for Donovan tonight.

Beckham went missing for most of the game, but is understandable based on the fact that it is his first game back. The crowd was actually giving it to him every time he touched the ball.

Overall, nice win by the Galaxy.

I thought he was in mid-season form....he was playing in MLS(wasn't he?) and then in the Confederations Cup!!!

From what i've heard, he hasn't had much practice with the team, and it is his first time with a "BIG" club. Give him time, he will prove his defensive skill.

No, he's played in Europe for the last 5 years at least. And to be fair, he should have made up for it because he played a beautiful ball in the 90th minute that reallllly should have been an assist. And yeah, he's been with the club for 2 days and probably hasn't done much of anything since the Confed Cup ended.

Anyone have thoughts about Landon joining Livorno? From what I've read he would probably join the club on January 1 rather than at the beginning of the season, which could be harmful for his playing time at the club (since he'll join in the middle of the season and maybe not be fit). But if they get him up to speed and give him a shot, this could be massive for Donovan; he'll have his off season from the end of the MLS season until January, and then play at a high level non-stop until the World Cup. I think there's a shot for Landy to be a real star in South Africa. He definitely looks the most dedicated and motivated I've seen him since about 2002.

Anyone else looking forward to the gold cup final??... With the match being the U.S v Mexico, I'm really looking forward to it.

Even though the teams may be different, it it a good match to have before the World cup qualifier.

Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll be a good game and fatigue isn't a part of the game. By the way, how stupid was it to play the semis on Thursday evening then having the final on Sunday at noon? That seems ******* dumb, the logic would've been to have the game on Wednesday at least. But anyway...

I've seen some of the US games, and one player that stands out is Stuart Holden. He's been pretty explosive and has had a few nice goals. Hopefully Mexico can neutralize him; it seems most of the attack comes from his side.

Mexico's defense has been very suspect giving up stupid goals (like against Panama, and the last second goal against Costa Rica). There has to be something to keep it solid, because it strikes no confidence in me at all. The attack is pretty good, but there are a lot of squandered opportunities, too.

Even though this is the diluted Gold Cup, I think it has been pretty decent.

They beat us after a ten year drought, the best thing we can do is return the favor on august 12.

Also, did anyone else noticed that our defense just looked very slow after that first goal?? It almost felt as if they brought in a whole new squad right from the stands. Just pathetic to see those young kids fall apart like that.
