Having seen them and USL-2 this year, New York wouldn't make the playoffs in USL-2, I mean that.

Columbus Crew 2-0 Puerto Rico Islanders
Marathon 3-1 DC United
Another remarkable collapse by an MLS team. 70 minutes into the game it looked as though United would comfortably coast to a 1-1 away draw. Then things suddenly fell apart. Two of Marathon's goals were basically gifted to them by Greg Janicki, who was downright awful. He was also at fault on the second goal, but it was nicely worked by Marathon as well. I'm beginning to think that MLS teams, apart from not being very good, are cursed in this competition. I mean, look at Marathon's third goal:
1. Stupid penalty given up? Check.
2. Gilt-edged opportunity to equalize missed just prior to giving up said penalty? Check.
3. Goalkeeper saves penalty, only for a DC United player to enter the area prematurely, causing the penalty to be retaken and converted? Check.
If more than one MLS team makes the quarters, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I can see Houston and Columbus getting to the quarter finals. DC is just not that good of a team.
