All right, so the pre season just went underway yesterday. It's that time of the year again. As we all know the pre season is meaningless for the most part. But at least we're able to see some football after five long, long months of no football. So it seemed like a good time to start a new season thread. Discuss.

Can someone intelligent and knowledgeble tell me who are good and who are **** this season, cos ive not followed the off-season at all, at all.

Bobby

The Legend
We'd better not play any of the starting defensive backs for more than a quarter. We're thinner there than Nicole Richie auditioning for the roll of Bobby Sands.

AFC East
New England Patriots - Strongest team to win it all, in my opinion. Acquired Randy Moss, Adalus Thomas, Donte Stallworth and some other good players. Only notable losses was Corry Dillon, and possibly (hopefully not) Asante Samuel, who could be traded and might hold out until week 10.

N.Y. Jets - They had a solid last season. More of a surprise, but Mangini showed he's a good coach. And they had some good additions, such as Thomas Jones who was a key player for the Bears last season. I think unless they get off to a slow start, they should contend for the playoffs. But the Patriots should be able to take the division.

Buffalo Bills - They lost Willis McGahee, and Marshawn Lynch didn't impress. They will probably break even in wins and losses, and will miss the playoffs yet again. They also lost Takeo Spikes, so they're not expected to do much this season.

Miami Dolphins - They got some good additions - Joey Porter, Trent Green, and got rid of Joey Harrington and Dante Culpepper. Still, I think they'll struggle with their new coach, and won't make the playoffs. They probably won't even get as many wins as losses.

AFC North
Cincinnati Bengals - Besides all the off-the-field troubles and the suspension to Chris Henry, there's no notable changes from this team. They didn't seem to have any big changes, so I think they should contend for winning this division.

Baltimore Ravens - Acquired Willins McGahee from the Bills and let go of Jamal Lewis. Other than that, there's not much to tell. But with McNair, and Ray Lewis and their defense, they should be a team to contend for the playoffs.

Pittsburgh Steelers - It seems like Roethlisberger is back to 100%, it should be interesting how this team plays without Cowner as their coach. They also lost Joey Porter and didn't have any big additions. But they are the Steelers, so they could make the playoffs.

Cleveland Browns - Drafted Brady Quinn and signed Jamal Lewis. Still, they are the Browns, and I doubt they'll make the playoffs, or even get close to a winning record.

AFC South
Indianapolis Colts - Lost Cato June, and Dominic Rhodes to free agency. But they still have Manning, so they'll most likely win their division. I doubt they'll repeat, though.

Tennessee Titans - Signed Eric Moulds for Vince Young to have some good hands. They should be a much better team after what they showed last season. No big losses besides Pacman Jones, which as everyone knows, is suspended for a year. I think they'll be close to making the playoffs this year.

Carlos*sonville Jaguars - No notable changes from them. They have two solid QBs, and a good defense. But they seem to be too inconsistent.

Houston Texans - They got Ahman Green, which is very injury prone, Matt Schaub, who has shown promise, but is still unproven for the most part. So, it looks like it'll be just another underachieving season for the Texans. No surprise.

AFC West
San Diego Chargers - Besides losing Schottenheimer (sp?) and Wade Phillips, they still have the same team as last season for the most part. So, they are definitely contenders to win it all. Arguably the best team in the NFL, besides the Patriots (I'm bias. I don't care).

Denver Broncos - Acquired Dre Bly, and Travis Henry which are great additions. Also Jay Cutler has a year under his belt, so this team should be able to make the playoffs if their defense plays anywhere near to the level they did last year.

Kansas City Chiefs - They lost Green, although Huard has shown to be pretty solid. And lost Will Shields and Sammy Knights. But, they still have Larry Johnson and an okay defense, so they could still contend. I don't think they'll make much noise this year, though.

Oakland Raiders - Traded Randy Moss, hired a 12 year old looking head coach (Kiffin), and drafted JaMarcus Russell and signed Dante Culpepper. They'll suck this year. Again.

NFC East
Philadelphia Eagles - Lost Dante Stallworth to the Pats and Jeff Garcia to the Bucs. Acquired Takeo Spikes and Donovan McNabb seems to be healing quicker than expected. So they should be able to contend if Feely can play well until McNabb is ready.

Dallas Cowboys - New head coach, but Romo seems to be solid. Owens will still have the spotlight, and they seem to have a good defense. They should be able to make the playoffs.

N. Y. Giants - Lost Tiki Barber to retirement, and cut LaVar Arrington. They traded for Reuben Droughns, but I doubt he'll be able to fill Tiki's shoes. Unpredictable team overall, but I don't think they'll make the playoffs.

Washington Redskins - Nothing notable from them. Clinton Portis should be healthy, but they lack a good QB to lead them to anything. So they'll be at the bottom of this tough division.

NFC North
Chicago Bears - Lost Thomas Jones to the Jets and got rid of Tank Johnson. Other than that, they should be the same team. They did re-sign Lance Briggs, so they should be pretty solid defensively again. Of course the question is if Grossman can stay consistent enough for them to go far.

Green Bay Packers - Brett Favre's possible last season, but he's in a team with a lot of young, unproven players. So they'll fall short of the playoffs again.

Minnesota Vikings - Drafted Adrian Peterson and Sidney Rice, and they have a solid defense. But they cut Brad Johnson, which means Tarvaris Carlos*son will be their QB. I don't think they'll make the playoffs unless Chester Taylor/Adrian Peterson are able to carry the load and make things easier for him.

Detriot Lions - Drafted Calvin Johnson, even though they seem to have an overload of young WRs. Other than that, they didn't do anything note-worthy. So they should stay in the same level overall. Which is mediocre at best.

NFC South
New Orleans - The surprise team of last year. If they are able to keep up the play from last year, they should be able to win their division without any big problems.

Atlanta Falcons - Signed Joe Horn and Joey Harrington, I guess to compensate for any suspension Mike Vick might get. With all the Vick drama, the team will most likely not do well, and miss the playoffs.

Carolina Panthers - Acquired David Carr, and drafted Dwayne Jarrett. David Carr/Jake Delhomme fight for the starting spot should be interesting. If anything, it should push Delhomme to be more consistent knowing if he screws up, a very capable QB can take his job any given week.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Signed Jake Plummer, Jeff Garcia and Cato June. Also drafted Gaines Adams who seems promising. I still think they'll underachieve this year and Gruden might get the boot at the end of the season.

NFC West
San Fransisco 49ers - Signed Nate Clemments to a big contract when free agency first opened. Also signed Tully Bunta-Cain, who seem promising for the Patriots last year, and Ashley Lelie. With all those additions, and Frank Gore, Alex Smith and a solid defense, they have the best chance to get back to the playoffs this year.

Seattle Seahawks - No notable changes from them. They should be able to make the playoffs, but they are not the best team in their division anymore.

St. Louis Rams - No notable changes besides them signing Dante Hall. Solid team, but their defense seems to be pretty weak.

Arizona Cardinals - Can't think of any note worthy changes from them besides them axing Dennis Green. But them being the Cards, I doubt their expectations are very high.

Don't listen to anyone else, just become a fan of the Historic Green Bay Packers Franchise. We are publicly owned (the only team in major American sports) and have the most Titles than any football team in history. The Lombardi Trophy awarded to the Super Bowl Champion every year is named after our legendary coach who won the first two Super Bowls, and of course Brett Favre is the great Quarterback who ever lived.

Alex, the best thing about Panther Cheerleaders isn't even the apparently amazing asses, it's the fact that they have sex with each other in public restrooms.

We looked alright against Houston. Grossman was good. Completed 8/10 for 50 yards, no bad throws. Griese got intercepted at his first attempt, and Orton did very well, bar one bad throw that went out of bounds.

Greg Olsen... good times ahead! Awesome TE. Wolfe was awesome, but looks like he might have a problem when he doesn't evade in time. Leak is an awesome QB. I'd like to see him in action against the Colts next week.

My availability from work should be in effect by then so I should be able to make it. Already had our draft for the fantasy league at work, some douche took Damon Huard and Dwayne Jarrett with his 2nd and 3rd picks. :D Also, someone took Frank Gore with the second overall pick only to find out he had broken his hand the next day. All I ask is that we win 4 games, I'll consider that a successful season.
