That MIGHT be the reason there's not a British Olympic team but there's no way that's any of the many reasons why there's not a UK team in international competitions.

1. Speaking for Scotland there's no way we would like it

2. Probably most importantly Britain as it is now has 4 out of 8 votes in the FIFA committees and would be daft to give that up and be reduced to one.

The UK already has one of the strongest teams in Europe and they're called England. It was really tough for a Scot to type that but it's true.

Obviously this can never happen (so don't point it out) but it would rule if we could have ROI players in our team. Duff on the left anyone? Perhaps Given in goal?

I was listening to talksport last Sunday. They were discussing the prospect of a joint Scotland/Wales and N. Ireland team.

The general consensus of those who rang in was quite a mix of those in favour and against.

i see, fair enough.

my point however was a little joke because these are the Celtic nations and I believe that name is taken already.
