Can anyone tell me about Franco Cangele ?
He is playing for a Turkish club Sakaryaspor and they beat Fenerbahce 2-1 today and he was the best player on the field..His technic is brilliant for a striker..

Remember that Argentina's national team will play a friendly against Brazil the sunday at Fly Emirates Stadium(11:00am time of Argentina, GMT -3).

- The last time Boca was involved in a match were a team scored 7 goals was a 7-2 deafeat against Rosario Central(6/7/2003), it was also the last time a team scored 7 goals in the same match in the first division, until now.
- The last time there was a 7-1 score on the first division, it was on 6/9/2002, a match where Independiente won over Colón.
- The last time Boca won 7-1 was against Estudiantes in 1985.

Belgrano and Chicago 2 of the recently promoted teams are showing they aren't as easy as people may think.

Colón who always gets big expectations when a season starts, it's always the same they have a good start but they crumble in the middle of the tournament, this time there wasn't any good expectation about them and look how they are doing, they lost all the matches they played, in top of that they are getting closer to the direct relegation zone. Toresani got fired and now Falcioni will replace him. Well at least that way they may stop receiving goals.:funny:

About Independiente's match. Well the referee was "el sargento" Gímenez so you can expect many doubtful calls as usual. On the other hand Independiente played very nice football, however it seems there's still bad luck when it comes to the chances, and it's evident that it's a matter of luck not a matter of skill. Pretty good performances of Lorgio Alvarez and Montenegro as usual. Machín was pretty good compared to the last match. Orteman did good as usual however he should be more confident about shooting on goal. The defense was a bit dodgy at first but it got better specially Gioda a wall. Yes Basile, Gioda is argentinian and he's only 21, so PLEASE NO DANIEL DIAZ, HERE'S YOUR MAN! I'm a bit surprised about the good match that Herrón however i still prefer Carrizo in that position. Rodrigo Diaz was playing fine but he had to mess up with a supposed "verbal excess" which got him a direct red card pretty early in the match.

As i said before La Volpe will take the lead on September 15th.

Franco Cangele, at some point was a promising youth but it didn't turn out like that, on my regards he is an average to mediocre player, in Argentina he played at Boca, Independiente and Colón, at Boca he played so-so, at Independiente the supporters were somewhat impatient with him, he was given somewhat a big resposability and he didn't really do much, also the matter that he came from Boca had something to do with the supporters being impatient, basically he played like crap he would held the ball for too long without giving a pass or shooting just run aimlessy with the ball, at Colón he played a bit better without being anything amazing and scored some goals even. More likely another argentinian who didn't do anything really important, will go to Europe and will be quickly forgotten.

San Lorenzo tries to get over a bad experience, Silvera back in shape to argentinian football. Also now Tinelli gets in troubles with the supporters of San Lorenzo, they claim that he used San Lorenzo's defeat with his program to gain rating, and that it's unbelieable from a supposed die hard San Lorenzo fan.

At River, Carrizo is the starting keeper, Leyenda on the bench, but where's Lux? Apparently not even Lux knows who owns his transfer.

Now this is team spirit. Palermo himself admitted that he took the goal away from Cardozo, to increase his own goal count(it would have been goal anyway he just tapped it in right next to the line).:nape:

At Ra-sin-club, Merlo takes Sava away from the team, Sava won't even be in the bench for the match against Argentinos, it seems that future will be away from that club.

Belgrano, a new victory with a very effective Serriezuela at free kicks, gives them a hope to fight for the championship, and the most important thing for them, stay on the first division like in the past.

Banfield in need of a victory to calm the waters, possibly a draw or a lose could mean the end of Leeb's era, in top of that they will play against Estudiantes who needs a victory to get closer to the top once again. Similar the situation of Quilmes who needs a victory to go away from the bottom of the table also they are complicated with the average table, if they don't get better they could get relegated, in top of that they will visit none other than River.

About Independiente's match. Simple the best match of the week-end and maybe one of the best(if not the best) of the season so far. Both teams wouldn't hesitate to attack, a very entertaining match more likely it was deserving a 2-2, maybe the draw doesn't really help either team but at least it is something. Good match of Montenegro, Machín and Rodrigo Diaz at Independiente, the defense was fine but it seems that they need work in the coordination on the left side, Vladimir Marín, and Guillermo Rodriguez. on the other hand the right side with Gioda specially was solid. Herrón was a bit dodgy on marking, there's the main difference between him and Carrizo, at times he would let Conca free and then he could pass the ball to Wanchope(basically that's how the second goal came). An improvement from Armenteros compared to previous matches, he started pretty bad but he improved specially after he scored. Now to get ready to visit the maroon, the championship didn't finish and there are still chances.(6)

We played Very, VERY poorly. Less than a month away from the superclasico and we still haven't found the ideal starting 11. I have faith that Passarella can guide the team to improve their play as what I saw yesterday wasn't very entertaining. With that said, a win is a win, and now we're only 2 points behind Boca. Hopefully their game vs Gimnasia LP finishes in a loss and that defecit in points is maintained or reduced heading into the clasico.

It's good to see Falcao back, but he really did look out of form. It's nothing to worry about and I'm sure with some more playing time he'll regain his form.

Farias is also ready to return, creating an interesting situation for Passarella: Stick with Ortega-Higuan or throw in Farias or Falcao? These are good problems though, ones that most coaches wish they could have... :p

The first San Lorenzo game I get to watch on TV, and I am subjected to boca scoring goal after goal after goal! It was indeed horrible. Probably the worst match I have ever seen. But like a good fan, I watched the entire match.
Can anyone stop Boca?!

At least S.L. are back to their winning ways.
A big match this weekend against Independiente and I will be able to watch.
Hopefully we can move into second place.

P.S.

About Independiente's match. A match not reccomendable for people of weak hearts. Simply very very entertaining match even more than the one against Rosario Central but now Independiente got the 3 points and played even better than last match. Due Lorgio Alvarez being injured(more likely will miss the match against San Lorenzo too:() Burruchaga threw a 3-4-1-2 into the field. it was like this.

----------------Ustari
-
-----Abraham---Gioda---G. Rodriguez
-
-----------------Herrón-------Marin
----Machín-------------Orteman
----------------Armenteros
-
---------Montenegro----Denis

Independiente was dominant through all the first half had many chances but could only score only 1 goal when probably at the half time the score could have been 3-0 already, and also the things got complicated for Lanús when that cheating bastard of Fabbiani got sent off, even the people of Lanús was boo'ing at him. Right after the second half started Independiente scored a second goal, some minutes later Independiente still dominated but a wrong coordination between Gioda and Rodriguez gave Lanús the goal scored by Graf a former player of Independiente who scored many goals at Independiente but also now scored 7 goals against Independiente(however the supporters aren't mad at him or anything), just before that goal the youth player Sosa was going to come in to close the match. Few minutes later after a wrong rush of Ustari Lanús got the draw. When it looked like Lanús was waking up and was close to winning the match, the man of the match Montenegro scores his second goal(So Motenegro can only score from penalties eh?:p), and few minutes after after a excellent assistance of Montenegro, Marin got to score a pretty goal, finally he got to score he was deserving it. After Lanús tied Independiente got to play with a the usual 4-3-1-2, with some differences, Montenegro was the attacking midfielder, and Herrón had to leave the pitch due an injury same with Machín.

---------------Ustari
-
------Abraham-Gioda---G. Rodriguez
--Matheu
-
----------------Fabro-----Marin
----Orteman
--------------Montenegro
-
----------Sosa---------Denis

Pretty good match of Abraham, finally he returns to the starting 11 and he played very well, also good match of Marin, Denis and Gioda and the best of all was without a doubt Montenegro who scored a very nice goal from a free kick. I liked it how Burruchaga tried to risk a bit using a 3-4-1-2 from the start of the match. Unfortunately he won't be able to repeat the same line up because Machin is injured and more likely will miss the match against San Lorenzo.(:/) So i believe either Fabro or Lorefice will replace him.

 Vladimir Marin's goal.
 Rolfi Motenegro.

Speaking of San Lorenzo, last night they drew 0-0 with Banfield for the Copa Sudamericana and they qualified to the next round and will play against Santos FC. Regardless San Lorenzo lost 7-1 with Boca they have been doing pretty good so far, because after all they only lost that match, and now with Silvera being fully fit he got to score 4 goals in 2 matches. Will he score against Independiente where he got to be the top scorer of the Apertura 02/03 and also won the championship?

A bit off-topic but... Riquelme resigned to the national team, he said it was something about his mother's health, i don't know too much details about it.
Speaking of which Argentina will play a friendly against Spain in Murcia on October 11th but it seems to be confirmed that unlike the media was blabbering about Basile would not call players from argentinian clubs because some of them will playing a round of the useless Copa Sudamericana around that date.:nape: Also Argentina would play against Turkey in Cologne on November 14th, and also against France sometime in February, however it seems that Turkey may not be able to play that match in Novemeber so Argentina would play against Italy instead.:o No offense to the turkish but hopefully they won't be able to play against us.

Regarding the suspension of Gimnasia-Boca. During the half-time the chairman of Gimnasia, Muñoz, went to the locker room of the referee "el sargento" Gimenez and had some words with him, what Gimenez claims is that Muñoz was complaining about the way he was refereing and Gimenez claims that he got a death threat, Muñoz on the other hand said something among the lines that he didn't have a good attitued when he sent off Troglio(the coach of Gimnasia) and he said to the media that there was no way that he was going to complain about his calls seeing as Gimenez gifted a penalty to Gimnasia(and yes when you look at it it didn't seem like a penalty at all). A complcaited situation for now Muñoz is out of his charge for 1 month, the managment of Gimnasia will decide what to do with him. It's also strange the reaction of Gimenez, other than telling the police and such(which is fine if there was a threat) but suspending the match was maybe not really needed, some former referees claimed that they got threatened the same way during half-times before but that they didn't suspend the match for such.

Man ROlfi is the man right now seems to always find his form at Independiente. :rockman:

The Riquelme situation is a shame so much talent but not enough personality. If the issue is family though he cant be judge.

One of the reasons that there will never be another Diego is i dont think anybody can have both his talent and personality on and of the field hes is one of a kind.

About Independiente's match, well not much to tell. San Lorenzo in a defensive pose was smart to not let Independiente play freely, in top of that it wasn't a good match of Montenegro, and the team in general, the best of Independiente more likely was Vladimir Marin. Independiente dominated most of the match and was the only team that was attacking. Unfortunately, once again, a bad marking by Guillermo Rodriguez gave "Cuqui" Silvera the chance to score the goal, when Rodriguez started to chase Silvera it was late. Silvera didn't celebrate the goal as a signal of respect to the supporters of Independiente(however i would not blame him if he would have celebrated the goal). Unfortunately, thanks to the "sargeant" Gimenez:kader:, Rodrigo Diaz couldn't be on the pitch due the suspension or else the things could have been a lot different.

Regarding the suspension of Colón-Vélez, near the end of the first half a "supporter" of Colón, in a section of one of the sides of the field(like in most of the english stadiums at Colón's stadium if you are on the side of the field you are basically next to the line) threw a zippo or something of the sort at one of the linesman, fortunately it was nothing serious just a wound right next to an eyebrow, also finally the police made something good, they identified the guy and it didn't take long for the agressor to be arrested, however the referee decided to suspend the match anyway. The chairman of Colón swore that this agressor would never be allowed on the stadium again while he is on charge(which is good because he is in charge since 1 month ago).

River keeps doing a mess with transfers. Apparently they approved the transfer of Lux to RCD Mallorca but he wasn't informed, also they approved selling some percentages of the transfers of Gonzalo Higuain and Fernando Belluschi, no idea who got them though. Also they got 1 million of dollars for the 30% of 3 youth players, Augusto Fernandez, Juan Antonio(who just arrived from CAI), and another one i think it was Musacho, the other team involved was some club from the 2nd division of Switzerland.

Last night Lanús won over Vélez 1-0(3-0 aggr.) and so they qualified to the next round of the Copa Sudamericana where they will face Corinthians.

Finally Estudiantes is allowed to remodel their stadium, and they also reached an agreement about a minimal amount of matches where they will use the stadium "Ciudad de La Plata", apparently Estudiantes would use their own stadium in 80% of the matches they plat at home, however its capacity would be reduced a little bit to 20,000. Also while their stadium is being remodeled they would use the stadium Ciudad de La Plata for their home matches, and also if they get to play an international cup they would consider its usage for later stages, for example in the Libertadores if they would have had qualified to the semi-finals they may have needed to play there. Tomorrow it will be the first time they play on the stadium "Ciudad de La Plata" against Independiente, however if their stadium was finished or not with these conditions they would have used it anyway because they would play there against the teams that bring a lot of people like, Boca, River, Independiente, Racing, Nueva Chicago and when they play the classics against Gimnasia.

Also, Racing Club may not allow Independiente to use their stadium while "La Doble Visera" is being remodeled, instead Independiente would play at Vélez's stadium.

Well about Independiente's match. Itention of attacking but lack of ideas, very noticeable the lack of Lorgio Alvarez, Carrizo(these 2 will be back against Gimnasia) and Machín(Still needs sometime). Good enough that the youth player Sosa could score his first goal for the top team(also he got called up for the U20 national team). Ustari, regardless he received 2 goals, had a pretty good match he's back to his best level. Montenegro doesn't fit the position of attack midfielder, Rodrigo Diaz was in it would be something different. Lorefice had a so-so match but well it wasn't a good match for most of the players. Abraham had a good match, Gioda so-so unfortunately his first mistake at Independiente costed the team an own goal. Definitively the worst match of Guillermo Rodriguez since he signed with Independiente, once again Independiente received a goal 'cuz of his marking and thanks to Ustari didn't receive more coming from his side, in top of everything he got sent off. Without being unwordly Estudiantes snatched the 3 points from us. Also Gimenez without having big influence on the score he was somewhat biased in favour of Estudiantes, Verón more likely should have been sent off but he didn't even receive a yellow card, also Gimenez called many unexistant fouls for Estudiantes and it's still unknown why he booked Gioda even. Now to get ready for the other team of La Plata, with Lorgio and Carrizo back, however still no Machin or Diaz.(:/)

Regarding the teams playing the Sudamericana.

Gimnasia LP got an important 1-1, at the Maracana against Fluminense. Gimnasia still can't win outside of Argentina so far they got 8 draws and 3 loses, this was their first in Brazil.
Lanús also an important draw against Corinthians at Morumbi it was 0-0 for them.
River Plate once again troubled at home lost 1-0 with Atletico Paranaense.
Boca Juniors couldn't get around the history, they could never win over Nacional de Montevideo and this wasn't an exception a victory of 2-1 for the uruguayan side at their home.
San Lorenzo got an excellent 3-0 victory over Santos FC at home, however San Lorenzo keeps enlarging the list of their injured players now Mendez joins, Hirsig, Ferreyra, Quatrocchi, Silvera and Peirone, some will return this week-end some need some more days and some may take months to return.

Boca Juniors B? For those who don't know the teams of the first division 2 hours before their match starts it's the match of the reserves(they play the reserves of the same club that the main team plays), however Boca thinks that this isn't really competitive, so they would make someth9ing like a Chivas USA in Chile where they allow "B teams" play in lower divisions and some of Boca youth players would play there.

After all a piece of material fell near an Olé journalist not over people so no big loss.:p
Yeah it seems that for once that stadium of yours will be completely filled up, but will it resist such thing once every 2 weeks?:hump:

Now, as Independiente was going to be home against Racing on matchday 15, if Independiente isn't back at La Doble Visera then probably we'll have another Avellaneda's derby at Lanús' stadium.:o

Basile gave a list of 21 players for the match against Spain.

Keepers
Roberto Abbondanzieri(Getafe, Spain)
Leonardo Franco(Atlético de Madrid, Spain)

Defenders
Leonardo Ponzio(Real Zaragoza, Spain)
Roberto Ayala(Valencia CF, Spain)
Gabriel Heinze(Manchester United, England)
Gabriel Milito(Real Zaragoza, Spain)
Fabricio Coloccini(Deportivo La Coruña, Spain)
Rodolfo Arruabarrena(Villarreal CF, Spain)
Pablo Zabaleta(RSC Espanyol, Spain)

Midfielders
Javier Mascherano(West Ham United, England)
Leandro Somoza(Villarreal CF, Spain)
Luis Gonzalez(FC Porto, Portugal)
Maximiliano Rodriguez(Atlético de Madrid, Spain)
Daniel Bilos(Saint Ettenne, France)
Pablo Aimar(Real Zaragoza, Spain)
Federico Insúa(Borussia Mongengladbach, Germany)

Forwards
Carlos Tévez(West Ham United, England)
Lionel Messi(FC Barcelona, Spain)
Hernán Crespo(Inter Milan, Italy)
Sergio Agüero(Atlético de Madrid, Spain)
Javier Saviola(FC Barcelona, Spain)

So it means that Ayala, Crespo and Aimar return to the national team, and the surprise is Arruabarrena.

Thank you for all the great info anos de gloria. You do a good thing here.
Have you ever looked @ wikipedia's website? It is one of my favorite sites, a free online encyclopedia, with enless info about soccer all over the world.
There is a good page on the Argentine Primera Division(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_First_Division), but no current topic about the Apertura.

I have an account on that site, which is free, and allows you to add/edit information on the topic. I was considering putting together a current topic section for the Apertura, so that anyone looking online for current events of the apertura will have another source of info.

Would you mind if I used some of the information you have posted in this forum and put it on wikipedias site?

A couple more questions for you....

1: Could you explain the use of the copa sudamerica for me? It seems this is an unnecessary tournament and that the libertadores is what is most important. Do fans in Argentina care much about this tournament?
2: When is the friendly against Spain, will it be televised?

Thanks again for all the info you provide...

Watched parts of Boca-Velez yesterday. Good game for neutrals, brilliant comeback and Palacio from what i've watched lately, deserves a call-up.

About Independiente's match. Excellent match for the team in general, good return of Lorgio Alvarez and Carrizo, although it wasn't one of the best matches of Lorgio at Independiente he did very good. Abraham did a good work replacing Rodriguez on the centre of the defense. Pretty good match again of the youth Sosa, also good match of Montenegro and Vladimir Marin, but the man of the match was the uruguayan Sergio Orteman, also he scored a nice goal however he received a harsh tackle when he scored the goal, however no harm for him. Good tactic by Burruchaga to give some time to the youth players Fredes and Bruno to save some players for the tough match against Godoy Cruz in Mendoza. Against Godoy Cruz, Rodrigo Diaz would be starting player and Sosa would go to the bench.

About the info, it's up to you mate, if you want to use it go ahead.

1: Well the Copa Sudamericana is supposed to be a 2nd cup, like the UEFA Cup in Europe, however some countries send teams that have played the Libertadores, and the CSF doesn't really offer a control about the criteria of the teams chosen for this cup, because in Argentina Boca and River will ALWAYS play the cup no matter, when for example last year using the criteria for the other teams Boca should have not played it. And now even its name doesn't make sense because there are teams from the CONCACAF playing on it last year for example D.C. United took part on it, so where is the "Sudamericana" issue. About fans caring about it or not, well when River played the final with Cienciano everybody was saying it wasn't important at all, but then after River lost and Boca got to win it then it suddenly became important. Same thing happened to the Recopa.

2: The match will be the coming wednesday, October 11th, in Argentina it will be aired on TyC Sports, i think Canal 7 will air it too.

Funny thing is that he should have been sent off, also it's funny how very few people from the media mentioned that, but eh, those things happen often with Boca.:nape:
