Quick question: When is the first week of games for the Apertura??

El Diablo Rojo

Starting XI
Sometime between the first and second week of August i believe.

Troubles is the currency of Independiente. Yesterday, in a complicated day for Independiente, the 13 minutes from the match between Independiente and Banfield were played and well it finished 2-1, Independiente had 2 chances with Agüero and Fabro but unofrtunately weren't goal although they were too close. On another note Leeb got sent off by Furchi because of time wasting with canceling substitutions and such, even he crossed the pitch to leave the field. Basically this leaves Independiente out of cups, may have a slight chance to get into the Seudamericana, the Libertadores is quite out of question. But in top of everything Comparada got blamed by Rummenigge of trying to rob money from Agüero's transfer. Rummenigge claims that Bayern was going to give 20 m € for Agüero but that Comparada said that he wanted part of the money in a personal bank account of his, later Comparada said that such thing wasn't true that, there was an interest from Bayern for Agüero but that they never talked about money or anything like that, and that they would take the accusations to the legal authorities.

Today starts the last matchday of the second division, and basically all the 20 teams are playing for something, On the table Talleres Cba. leads with 33 points then Nueva Chicago, Belgrano Cba. and San Martin SJ follow with 32(Tigre and San Martín Mza. follow them with 30 but their goal difference isn't good they would need to make a lot goals). In the season table Godoy Cruz(champion of the Apertura) leads with 62, Chacarita Juniors is second with 60, Belgrano Cba. with 59, way back Talleres Cba. with 55, San Martin SJ and Tigre with 54 and then Huracan with 53. Assuming that Talleres was the champion they should play a 2 legs match against Godoy Cruz(matches to be played at 16/5 and 20/5) for the first promotion spot to the first division, the loser of that match would play for the second promotion spot( also 2 legs matches, to be played at 23/5 and 27/5) against the best qualified team of the season table that didn't get championship(for now it would be Chacarita) then the loser of that match would play the play-off against Olimpo B.B.(it will be played at 31/5 and 4/6), then the other 4 best qualified teams(for now those would be Belgrano, San Martin, Tigre and Huracan) would play a play-off called "reducido" to see who plays against Argentinos Juniors in the play-off(to be played on the same date of Olimpo's play-off). The last matchday starts today kind of all the 10 matches have something important.

Tonight
Almagro vs. Unión Sta. Fe - Almagro can still hope about the "reducido".

Saturday 13/5
Aldosivi vs. Juventud Antoniana - Both teams want to avoid relegation.

Huracan vs. Chacarita Juniors - Chacarita wants direct promotion, Huracan wants a secure place on the "reducido".

Atlético Rafaela vs. San Martín Mza. - Rafaela dreams with the "reducido", San Martin wants to be far from the relegation.

Talleres Cba. vs. Nueva Chicago - The most important match, both want to be the champion, both want to return to the first division. The referee of the match will be Elizondo.

El Porvenir vs. C.A.I. - The less important match of all, El Porvenir wants to avoid relegation.

Defensa y Justicia vs. San Martin SJ - Defensa needs a draw to stay on the second division, San Martin SJ aims for the championship.

Huracan TA vs. Tigre - Huracan got nothing to lose with Tigre wants a spot in the "reducido".

Ferro vs. Belgrano Cba. - Ferro ready to move on and Belgrano does not want Talleres the championship and would prefer to win it for themselves.

Godoy Cruz vs. Sportivo Ben Hur - Nothing to watch here. Godoy Cruz will 2 chances for direct promotion, the BH isn't on a relegation risk and is too far even from the "reducido".

Olele, Olala, el Cholo es de Racing y de Racing no se va....Olele, Olala.... :rockman:

Racing 1 Newell's 1...It was a good tie, Racing played better in the first half and Newell's in the second. I would have wished for a victory, but 1 point is better than nothing. Simeone is a living legend and I still don't know why they are not wanting his services anymore...

8- Rodrigo Palacio(Boca Juniors) 6

Yes Boca Juniors is the champion.

Well good thing at least now that Gillette is the sponsor the champion gets a trophy and medals unlike previous years where the champion team wouldn't get ****, and this trophy even got those bands like the european ones. Also the same thing is for the 2nd division now that it has sponsor(La Nueva Seguros).

Last night Merlo signed with Racing, and said that they would bring some new players, however they would still give priority to the youth players, like those 3 guys that are in Toulon.

Estudiantes is waiting to see what will happen to Burruchaga, his contract will finish soon, same with some players, for the sake of the game it would be better that he would continue at least for 6 more months, since Estudiantes is in the middle of the Libertadores.

Well about Independiente, not a lot to say the match was horrible, Independiente not even a shadow of what it was at the start of the season. Also lost a big chance to at least qualify to the Sudamericana but not even that, so by Comparada's saying we could say that this season was a complete failure for Independiente. Burruchaga and Bielsa seem to be the candidates for coach and another name that made little noise was Ramón Diaz. Damian Luna, free agent of San Lorenzo will sign with Independiente, other that could do the same are Pablo Vitti, Nicolas Pareja, Rivarola and the bolivian Ronald Raldez. Those players loans would expire and wouldn't continue at Independiente: Leyenda, Bujan, Mendez and Pautasso.
About Biglia leaving seems to be a fact, i guess they should try to keep him, he was an important player, he's good passing too, more than once he would try to make a shot on goal from outside the box. Pekerman was willing to test him on the national team, but due a lack of matches he couldn't do that.

Here's my best 11. I agree Bossio has been average at most, Ibarra has been better but on his position there weren't "amazing" players either.

-----------------Ustari
-
--Ibarra---Pellerano---Sanguinetti---Licht
-
------Damonte---Somoza---Leto
-----------------Gracian
-
----------Scocco-------Vargas

And would have this bench: Herrera, Gioda, Pellegrino/Silvestre, Pelletieri, Beluschi, Agüero and Higuain.

On the 2nd division a very tough ending. Nueva Chicago was the champion of the Apertura, once again the Olympic stadium of Cordoba receives over 45,000 people for a very important match, Nueva Chicago won 1-0 over Talleres, Belgrano won 3-1 over Ferro but they needed 1 more goal to have a better goal difference. San Martin SJ was winning their match 1-0 until the 90th minute where there was a Corner for Defensa y Justicia, the keeper went to San Martin's the box heads the ball and another players pushes the ball in and that meant that the hopes of San Martin's championship went away and Defensa avoids relegation. The matches were entertaining and there weren't any troubles between the supporters even in Cordoba where there were 40,000 supporters of Talleres against only 8,000 of Nueva Chicago, the people of Cordoba, most left after the final whistle but the rest clapped the victory of Nueva Chicago. Tigre drew 0-0 with Huracan TA and Huracan won 1-0 over Chacarita which gave them the chance to play the "reducido". So Nueva Chicago is the champion, Belgrano Cba. waits for the loser of the champions match, then Talleres Cba., Chacarita Juniors, San Martin SJ and Huracan play the reducido. The first leg of these matches was played yesterday.

Final for the first promotion spot.

Nueva Chicago vs. Godoy Cruz 1-1

Reducido Semi-Final

Talleres Cba. vs Chacarita Juniors 0-2
San Martin SJ vs. Huracan 3-2

The 2nd leg of these matches will be played the saturday, there isn't away goal rule, but in the case of the reducido, if for example Huracan and San Martin would end in a draw in the aggregate, Huracan would qualify because they finished above San Martin in the overall of the season.

Great stuff Diablo, i think i will stop reading Ole, and start reading your posts, hehehe...

Thanks. (H)

Well, there has been some movement of coaches, Merlo already signed with Racing, Simeone signed with Estudiantes and Burruchaga, finally, signed with Independiente.
Falcioni would go to Colón. Arsenal is looking for a new coach, since they fired Lopez even though they won against San Lorenzo.

Not a lot about the players, Gimnasia LP wants to sign the colombian player of Godoy Cruz, Mosquera.
Insúa would go to Hamburger SV, Abbondanzieri apparently got an offer from Switzerland.
Passarella wants Federico Higuain(actually playing in Nueva Chicago) to return to River, however if Nueva Chicago gets promoted to the first division they want to keep him.
Andrés Aimar(playing in Belgrano Cba.) would sign with Independiente.

There's already a new team that will be playing on the first division the next season. Welcome Godoy Cruz!:rockman:
Mendoza finally got a team on the first division. In the world cup stadium of Mendoza, Godoy Cruz won 3-1 against Nueva Chicago, the match was tough they had to go to extra-time because after the 90 minutes it was a draw 1-1, then on the extra-time Godoy Cruz scored 2 more goals, which made a part of Mendoza celebrate.

Final for the first promotion spot.

Godoy Cruz vs. Nueva Chicago 3-1

Reducido Semi-Final

Chacarita Juniors vs. Talleres Cba. 0-0
Huracan vs. San Martin SJ 3-2

Now last night the first leg of the final for the 2nd promotion spot was played between Nueva Chicago and Belgrano Cba. also the Final of the Reducido between Huracan and Chacarita.

Final for the second promotion spot

Nueva Chicago vs. Belgrano Cba. 3-1

Reducido Final

Huracan vs. Chacarita Juniors 3-0

The 2nd leg of these matches will be played the saturday. It's a pity the loss of Belgrano because it seems that Cordoba will not have any team on the first division, except if Belgrano would won 3-0 the 2nd leg. Regarding the reducido, if aggregated score of Huracan-Chacarita ends up as a draw then Chacarita would qualify to the play-off because of their position in the season table.

Regarding the relegation/promotion between the 2nd and the 3rd division it's still being played, for now Defensa y Justicia and San Martin Mza. would go to the play-off with a team of the 3rd division, meanwhile El Porvenir and Juventud Antoniana are already relegated to the 3rd division. For now the only team that won promotion to the 2nd division is Platense, the other team that will get promoted would come from the 2 legs match between Villa Mitre(the all time rival of Olimpo B.B.) and San Martin T., the winner would win promotion to the 2nd division, the loser would go to the play-off with San Martin Mza.. The team that will play against Defensa y Justicia, would come from a reducido of the metropolitan 3rd division, and it will be either one of these 4: CD Morón, Talleres RE, Central Cordoba and Estudiantes BA.
