I am a pc user mostly.I have never had a console for gaming. My best loved games for year has been pro evolution soccer for pc and ps2 and iss2 for the psone(i played it on emularor on pc).But now i am seeing the fact that new-gen gaming is slowly moving towards consoles. So i decided that i should buy a console in the near future.Or not?
From what i read from your comments in the forums i realise that the new fifa might be better this year than proevo08.I am a pc owner and i want to ask you if it is worth buying a new console for the new fifa or just buy proevo for the pc.And which one(ps3 or xbox360)?
So as you understand its a double question that i make to you....
Fifa08 or ProEvo08?..... Ps3 or Xbox360?

YG: I heard a rumor that xbox has some hardware problems(in some games it just burns out)Is it true?
YG2:I havent tested myself the new fifa.

Sorry for the length but it seems that i am in a brainstorm here.....

Well that's a difficult question because PRO EVO is just soooooooo much fun BUT the gameplay has hardly changed so I don't see the point in buying PES 2008 other than updated rosters but now option files does all that now. Both definitely have their own charm. PRO EVO is like playing a high light reel, the game is fast paced and loaded with action and just deep arcade gameplay whereas FIFA is a more methodical, tru sim of the game, defensive/ offensive frame of mind, playing FIFA to me is like playing chess or checkers constantly trying to unlock your opponent's weaknesses in the defense this game is truely a thinking man's game which I can truley appreciate, personally for me I like both because they satisfy both my appetites but as far as buying a console for one game....hmmmmm I think you should buy the console just because you can download music, movies, link it up with your pc etc....it will be the center of your entertainment system. How can you go wrong?

Heck ya! Next Gen is the way to go, my 360 does so much, I have it hooked up to my PC records television, streams videos etc...Microsoft Zune is pretty cool to have also.

What I love about the 360 as opposed to the PS3 is that you can buy the add ons later rather them throw it all at ya and sell it to you for $500-$600 a pop. The 360 community and http://www.xbox.com/en-US/default.htm is hella cool and highly, highly organized, my girlfriend loves "Gamerchix, ladies night" last Monday they played HALO 3, it was a riot!, they have a calender with all sorts of cool events http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/calendar/?WT.svl=nav

Downloaded the movie, "300" in high def last Friday night and that was cool, overall I am pretty satified with my purchase because it's not just a gaming console.

the best thing you should do before spending (as consoles are expensive) is finding a friend who has xbox360/ps3 and TEST fifa first.by test,i don't just mean one match, but a whole load of matches and all the menus. ;)

Yours is very much a mature, sensible and valued comment. Ive seen far, far too many immature post on such a charged question as PES or FIFA. I love Fifa08 to bits, but in the next few days I will be looking at PES 2008 as well.

Actually, I have just read a lot of posts that says PES2008 is pretty much the same game from the last 2-3 years. Does any mature thinkers have comments on that?

Thanks for the compliment and YES! IMO it is relatively the same. This game is great and hella fun but it still carries over its shortscoming from last season and the season after that so fourth which in my mind is high unacceptible.

The gameplay at times is too fast and it is still too easy to score on a cross with a header, long runs and keeping the ball are still too easy, there is still no rhyme or reason in attacking or defending, a beautiful pass just happens which takes you totally offguard, you love it but you can hardly appreciate it. The players on the field do the dumbest things at times make bad runs, get caught offside too may times, just all in all a cumbersome AI and I have yet too see PES new AI taking affect, I don't see how the defense is learning my style.

The the stuttering, some slowdown, for the power of the next gen there should be no excuse, this is definitely a game to play on the PC, you will definitely get more joy out of it that way with all the option files.

That's the slowdown.

Occasional stutter on PES is better than playing a game which is in constant slowdown. It's like geriatrics league. Thanks to Fifa we finally see what our favorite players will play like when they are over 70.

Fifa 08 on the 360! Yes, 360. Why? Simple, GAMES. PS3 doesn't come anywhere close to the 360 library, especially exclusives. Last years goty went to Gears of War and this year Bioshock, Halo3 Mass Effect (I predict) and Call of Duty 4 (I predict have a great chance for goty. All are 360 games except cod4. If you like playing online, Xbox Live is untouchable (this isn't opinion but fact). Plus, the 360 will go hand in hand with the PC. In the end, it's worth buying the 360 not just for fifa but for all the great titles plus downloadable hd movies, online gaming community, etc. It's heads above the ps3 in what matters most...great exclusives. Don't get turned off by hardware issues. I've had my 360 for a year and a half and no problems. It was the first batches mainly that had some issues. And if you do, xbox has a 3 year full warranty

I own FIFA 2008 and I have played the 360 demo fro ProEVO08; As a little background on myself I was a die hard old school FIFA fan until FIFA 03 came out, Althought I never really liked any FIFA games after 98 I still bought them believing the EA media hype...when I discovered PRO evo, I was a convernt and have bought it over FIFA ever since, but something told me to go after FIFA 08....

I love it; FIFA 08 that is. It is truly the first football simulation, that EA has made in a long time; It is challenging, it is fun, and it is great to play online. If I would have one great flaw to point out it would be the fact that it seems as if EA decided they were going to make it nearly impossible to score...really. I have played a number of matches and the scorelines are sometimes unrealistic low; Too many post, and near misses, which normally wouldnt happen....but all in all a great game.

From my understanding and in all fairness, the PES demo i played is nothing like the finished version. but judging from the demo, I must say I was slightly dissapointed. I belive as others have pointed out that the game is too fast, maybe a little too arcade, and not very rewarding. You will still have the good goals and it is still solid gameplay, but some of the gameplay elements that have made PES great such as the strategy of it, are lacking in the demo. PES makers obviously know what it is like to be a football fan and it shows, they get the idea, but i believe what has hurt them is they lack the execution....and in turn that hurts the final product....

If i had to pick rigth now; I would buy both...hehe. See, FIFA is not that far ahead of PES, at least not yet, but if the trend continues it will be come this point next year.

At the risk of turning this into a system war, i have to disagree somewhat with OrgulloVikingo.
Most of the socalled exclusives he mentioned are on pc aswell, and many of the other exclusives gets ported to pc later down the line.
Also, the psn online is free as opposed to live and dont forget the blue ray player in the ps3.
For me, it all depends on what type of games you like. The xbox360 is basically a pc and it shows in its games library with a majority of the big titles being FPS. Thats fine if you like that, but i prefer FPS on my pc.
My advice is to check out each systems library, aswell as upcomming games and decide based on that.

As for pro evolution vs fifa, i have fifa 08 on ps3 and pes 2008 on pc.
Fifa really surprised me this year, most likely because i havent played a fifa since 2005. It is very slow paced and you have to build up your attacks carefully. Scoring goals is tough and you will see realistic scores in matches most of the time. The learning curve is pretty hard though and the slow pace can get annoying at times and that is when i turn to pes 2008.
It is extremely fast paced compared to fifa 08 and it feels more like watching the highlights from a top match. You get constant action. The players are alot more responsive in pes, which is both good and bad. Good because the gameplay seems very fluid but bad because it is very easy to just dribble and as a result, the best technical players like Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Kaka can seem a little imbalanced.

I guess it comes down to what kind of football game you prefer. If you want a slow paced, tactical affair you should go with fifa but if you want a fast paced, action filled match you should go with pes. Both are great games in my oppinion.

Dude, save your money for a new PC next year. Fifa 09 will be next gen on PC. Not sure which direction PES will take but I'm assuming it will go the same way.
