The over 23 years players choosed to the Portuguese team are Quim (Benfica), Carvalho (Porto) and Maniche (Porto).

But Quim will not go IMO, because Benfica will not have keepers to play in the CL qualifying.

The qualifiers for European teams were the U-21 Euro. Here in South America we had qualifiers, Brazil didnt qualify. Paraguay eliminated us, no-use though.

Brazil would do a much better job, now i'll just watch Paraguay flop at the Olympics with the mediocre team they have. I'll be cheering for Portugal, although the main contender for me is Italy.

I think we should just call up another outfield player maybe.

Italys 3 overrage players are:

Ferrari (thought he was eligable)
Pelizzoli (Roma)
Pirlo (Milan)

these three players all played under Gentile at U21 level.

All in all, im a bit dissapointed. I wouldve preferred Cassano (who may still get call, i think hes the right age) and Totti, seeing as he never even played at Euro's. For last pick, i wouldve brought some older like Baggio, Pagliuca or Signori. Watever, theyre actual team is pretty amazing on its own.

Cassano is still eligable and if i recall correctly, he was already called by gentile, pelizzoli will most likely be the starting goalie, and it would have been nice to see baggio or pippo there, but we've got a good enough team as is

can't get any dumber than call another GK... especially when that GK is due to replace the GK who will be starter in the U23 side in his club. Pure stupidity.

Maniche and Carvalho are good calls though.

I'd pick J.Andrade to have a rock solid defence.

because Quim and Moreira (our U21 keeper) are both players of Benfica now since Quim signed yesterday.

it would be plain stupidity to call both and leave us just with one keeper of poor quality for those matches.

was catching up on last weekend's Match of the Day 2, and saw an ad for the draw for this summer's Olympics Football ... had no idea it was this week ...

not too many heavyweights making the Olympics this time ... on paper, a decent GB team could coast to the semis, where they potentially have a clash with Brazil ... and on the other side, Spain could coast to the final ... but of course, there's always a surprise package or two at the Youth tournaments ... UAE ftw, anyone?

Mexico can easily make it to the semis with that group and knockout (assuming they play group A) game. Not to mention there is actually a lot of promising youngsters as opposed to pretty much every other generation Mexico has had.

I actually think the Swiss could pose a major problem for GB and Mexico. They were runners up at last summer's Euro U-21 Championship. Yann Sommer is a God.

So group B will be a group of 4 possible qualifiers for first thought but it could be more reasonable that Mexico and Swiss is more close.

don't know what mix of players they will take to the Olympics (seeing as it's right after the EUROs), but it would be cool to see them do well ...

Ahh, yeah that's a great point. Wouldn't expect any of the really good ones (Shaqiri, Sommer, Xhaka) to go to that after the Euros. Speaking of Xhaka, I just went to his Wikipedia page and it looks like he'll be part of Lucien Favre's Champions League contending Gladbach team next season. Good opportunity for him.

didn't realise so few teams competed in the Olympics... I thought it was just the British teams that didn't in the past.

Have teams like Germany, not qualified or just not entered?
