One Dead in Sword Attack at German Church

BERLIN (Reuters) - An attacker has killed one man and injured three people, at least one seriously, with a Samurai sword in a Protestantchurch in the southwestern German city of Stuttgart, police say.

Police said the suspect, a 25-year-old Tamil, was overpowered with pepper spray after he had stormed into the building during a service onSunday and began attacking the 65-strong congregation.

Two men were injured, and a woman seriously hurt, police said, adding there had been "chaos" in the church, where severed limbs hadbeen found. A witness said the area in front of the church was covered in blood.

Police said they had also made an initial search for other potential suspects because of the situation in the church, but had not found any.

Police cited probable family reasons as the cause of the attack. There was no indication of any political motive. No further details wereavailable.

good luck there are no more dead/injured people, it´s a bit frightening coz i live just 30 km away 8(

btw: stuttgart is not in bavaria so we have non-catholic churches here :rolleyes:

From what I know most of southern Germany is Catholic and northern Germany is Protestant, thanks to my homeboy Martin Luther. (H)

A similar thing happened at a church near where i live. A man ran into the church service and opened fire killing eight and wounding others before killing himself
