Online Head to head question re: player abilities

Last night I was playing with Man U. In my 2nd match I was tinkering with positions and formations and slotted them into the 4-2-2-2. I arranged Park and Nani at the defensive mid positions and proceeded to get back and search for an opponent when I saw that my team ranking for midfield was like 72.... I looked at nani and park and they had overall values of like 60 and 65 and I just wondered if that was because the formation was putting them into a position on the field that they were either not in agreement with or that they weren't good at.... (it makes more sense if they just didn't like it... because they both have skill for defensive mid). OR was this just an computer bug/anomoloy?

Do the abilities of your players ebb and flow in an online season? I hope so!!! That would be cool. That could also explain it although it was most definetly different when I changed formations.
