Paris Saint Germain Thread [2005-2006]

Manchester City have targeted Paris Saint Germain man Fabrice Pancrate.

French rivals Auxerre are keen to sign the former Le Mans ace, but Premiership outfit City are now entering the race.

Pancrate is under contract at Parc des Princes until 2008, but the capital side say that he will be allowed to leave for a fee of around €3 million.

Auxerre have been slow to make a firm move for 25-year-old, which could allow City into the reckoning.

Stuart Pearce is thought to be keen to start negotiations with PSG in a bid to kick-start what has been a quiet summer on the transfer front at Eastlands.

Brazilian legend Rai has revealed that he would love to work for former club Paris Saint Germain in the future.

The playmaker represented the club from 1993 to 1998 and was a firm favourite at Parc Des Princes, leading them to a Ligue 1 title and French Cup success.

Rai has now revealed that he would love to help the club restore past glories.

"Of course I would like to work at PSG," he said. "I speak about this every time I am asked about the club.

"I have never had any contact with the officials, but if in the future they offer me something I will be available.

"I know everything about PSG and I am sure that the team is going to perform well this year."

I don't like the trend of losing, even friendlies, early on...Fournier needs to establish a winning trend, even in "meaningless" games...after last season, the players need to establish a momentum of winning, a culture of winning...

A fast start, a winning start, will be the only way we compete for L1/Europe this year.

True, but take a look at the PSG roster for this game : Pauleta, Dhorasoo, Rozehnal, Ljuboja, Semak, Yepes, Cana are missing. I wouldn't be so worried :hump:

Besides this, Rodriguez and Bueno are currently in Paris for the medical checkup.

PS. Mel Brennan, you seem to like Marvel comics and PSG. Obviously you have good taste :rockman:

Troyes are hoping to sign Paris Saint Germain misfit Branko Boskovic.

The Serbo-Montenegrin midfielder is out of favour at Parc des Princes and is expected to leave PSG before the start of the season.

Vitoria Guimaraes have made an approach for the 25-year-old but Boskovic is not keen on a move to Portugal.

Boskovic would prefer to stay in France and he could receive that option through promoted Troyes, who are due to hold a further meeting with PSG officials.

The schemer has spent two seasons at PSG and, despite having 12 months remaining on his contract, is likely to be allowed to leave on a free transfer.

Another PSG player with the possibility of a move to Portugal is Alioune Toure, who has been interesting Uniao Leiria.

But, like Boskovic, Toure is reticent about heading to Portugal and will have to wait to discover if there is further interest.

Following the sale of Shaun Wright-Phillips, Manchester City could be ready to step-up their interest in Paris Saint Germain's Fabrice Pancrate.

The 25-year-old forward, who can also operate in a wide role, has reportedly topped Stuart Pearce's summer shopping list.

With finances tight at Eastlands, City had wanted to take Pancrate on a season-long loan deal but this suggestion was rejected by both the capital outfit and the player.

Prior to Wright-Phillips' switch to Chelsea the €3 million fee required by PSG would have been out of the question.

However, with the club's coffers swelled by £21 million it has now been reported in France that Pearce could return with a firm bid.

City face competition from Auxerre, but PSG have yet to rule out the possibility of keeping Pancrate at Parc des Princes.

Semak looks promising.

He improved a lot since he came, managed to adapt well, delivered some great moves, and even scored a goal against Nice. He might not be a starter, but he will play for sure.

This year he'll play RM or 10.

BTW, psg.fr has stated that Rodriguez and Bueno have just signed a 4-year contract. Can people tell about these guys? Rodriguez seems to be the new Uruguayan jewel...

Paris Saint Germain have completed the signing of Uruguayan duo Cristian Rodriguez and Carlos Bueno from Penarol.

PSG have moved to snap up the pair - beating off interest from Real Madrid in 19-year-old midfielder Rodriguez.

"He can play in any position across midfield and we have been following him for 18 months," confirmed director Jean-Michel Moutier.

The arrival of 25-year-old forward Bueno is believed to signal the end of the club's interest in Roque Santa Cruz.

There are still question marks over the players - who have joined as free agents - despite assertions from Penarol that they should receive transfer fees.

Fifa is set to investigate the pair - who were left on the sidelines for four months by their Uruguayan side for refusing to agree contract extensions.

Meanwhile Fabrice Pancrate could remain at PSG despite interest from Manchester City and Auxerre.

"If Fabrice stays it wouldn't be any trouble," confirmed Moutier.
