PC DEMO first impressions

Flip flop is three times R2 or L2. It can only be done with C. Ronaldo or Ronaldinho (perhaps more)?

I've done shirt pulling one time! I dunno if I was running and holding R2 or L2 while holding R1 (running). Perhaps someone can sort this out?

Well, installing that demo and getting it to work sure was problematic for me!

But I can say that it is simply fantastic! My PC runs the game veeeery smoothly!!

And I don't have the best pc: Intel Celeron 2.4 Ghz processor, 384 MB of RAM, and an ATI 9250 Graphics card.

Yes, my PC is OLD, and yet i can play this demo with fantastic results! So if your PC is better or like mine, rest assured, you can run it!

IMO, the gameplay is very realistic, yet I do agree, the cutscenes and things like shoothing are VERY fast. I played Brazil v Portugal, and C.Ronaldo took a shot on goal and the ball just whizzed through the air, I could barely see it!

However, for me, my issue is with graphics. While this may be a next-gen game, my graphics card cannot take full advantage. My ATI 9250 unfortunately only has pixel shader 1.1, so I am FORCED to keep graphics at low settings. While the players still look great, things like crowds, kit wrinkles, etc, I cannot see. But the good news is that I might be getting a next-gen console or a new PC this winter (I havent decided which, anyone have any ideas?)

Lastly, my only peeve is that Konami does a VERY bad job in converting console games for PC...but oh well.

Point is, the demo is great! The graphics are SUPERB (not mine though) and the gameplay HAS to be slower. Like you guys said, it feels like an arcade game, and that is UNACCEPTABLE for Konami.

man i had just downloaded the PES 2008 PC demo and i can't believe my eyes, the graphics are just amazing, it's next generation or what? cause if you ask me i would say yes!!!!!!!!! the screenshoots posted here are for real, they really are from the PC version. And it runs so smooth at high details, 1024x768 and i don't have a powerfull computer: amd athlon 2000+, 1 GB ram, GeForce 6600. And the gameplay it's also amazing, i just can't believe it, love the game, good job Konami sorry for my english!

Hmm How could you run game at high details with GeForce 6600.. I got 6600 too and i can't choose high details in settings so i guess high details is only for Pixel Shader 3.0 graphic cards..

And yea gamepad doesn't work as second player.. You can play by using gamepad but only can play 1 person.. It's a real problem, i hope it can be changed for full version..

My impressions..
I've played 15-20 games in demo and i can say game is too fast for a simulation.. It must be slower and tactical.. I also don't like ball physic in PES 2008 demo, ball is not realistic as in PES6 and of course ball is too fast..

is it my pc because the screen shots ingame and the cutscene look totally amazing but when I play the game when the ball is hit at speed in a pass shot or keeper kickout I can see blur and ghosting in my players, like 2 players in one the player and a ghost of him or blur motion.

When walking or at normal pace and slow passes it looks ok but as soon as it speeds up with the fast passing that's when it happens.

-768 Ram
-Ati Radeon 9550 V-Guru

In 800x600 and Medium , i get 45-60 fps... so its not that bad,
but i cant use High Settings, cause it says my graphics card is too poor.

If I buy a new graphics card... will i be able to get a good 60 fps all the time??
(in 800x600 or 1024x768 in High Settings) with my processor and ram ???

you need at least 3,5 Gb free on your system partition (where you've installed windows).cheers!

What The **** Is That? I Cant Install Because I Have 64x Windows!! Damn We Are In The Year Of 2007 And I Can't Play The Game Because Of That! **** It Sucks!! I CAN EVEN PLAY PES4/5/6

i'm running windows xp x64 and i get an installation error, even when running the exe in compatibility mode for XP. it just won't work on x64? anyone have any luck or workaround to get it to install on windows xp x64?

French time wasting ..

1-0 down to France they get a corner they pass it to the front corner of the box it this then past back to the taker and he walks the ball to the corner and faces the flag with the ball.

I waited thinking this is some sort of AI bug then it dawned on me they were runnning the clock down so I took a player out to him and put in a slide tackle I thought Id get a foul against me but the ref gave them a throw in..

So they took it played the ball to about 22yrds out from goal and hit it back to the player who took the throw and he again walked with the ball into the corner with him facing the flag..

I got a wee bit miffed so I dived in both feet but the ref again only gave them a throw in...

So it wasn't an AI glitch but it looks like time wasting when they were 1-0 up with the clock running down.

I was controlling Gilbetro and saw the ball. So i decided to steal it and pressed the button. Behold what happened, the game decided to ignore my command and Gilbetro kept running (oh yeah, take a closer look in the begining when he is running. You'll see that his steps aren't correct ). This is really funny. Imagine something like that happening and then the CPU scoring a goal. Jesus Christ, is it SO HARD to have complete control over YOUR OWN PLAYERS?

Zoom on to the faces... They look absolutely stunning! Never seen such detail on a PC game before! The new ref and linemen animations are great! The shooting system has been altered a bit. Can't score that many goals,.. will have to get used to it I guess!

In PES6 I play Master League on the maximum difficulty settings. Currently in 2023.. Last season I scored 173 goals and got 5 against. Guess I'm pretty good,.. but when I played on 5 stars with Brazil against Spain I got just 1 shot on goal and got the hell kicked out of me.

The ref is very stricked! Like pes4. Lots of new animations (new injury animations etc.), longer replays and I really liked the part were they showed a quick replay of your players celebrating... In one animation my scorer runned toward the bench and started hugging reserve players and the coach!! There isn't a maximum of highlights. PES6 had a max of 6 per game. I just had 9 highlights in the reel.

Cant agree more!i love the exact animations of side referees a lot!

By the way,if you have a good enough computer,you will find a much more graphic!

The gameplay is different compared to previous pes but I found out lots more improvements such as better trhough pass and accurate passing. Speed is bit to high but this is just demo so i don't really care about that. I believe this version was made for Xbox 360 and converted for PC.. so enough elements will be tweaked.

In my opinion the speed isn't much higher.
The only difference in speed is achieved by
slightly faster passes and crosses, that's it.
