Re: PE3 Vs Fifa2004 ----ultimate review
First of all, I don't want to insult anybody and just want to discuss.
Mr. Nottm Forest, you said the graphics in FIFA 04 is better than PES 3 because fifa clinches it as the faces, bodies the way theey move are much more detailed and realistic.
How?
In my opinion, the players' skins in FIFA 04 don't look natural and look like zombies. And also, please pay attetion to how the players move in FIFA 2004 (maybe in replay). When a striker shoots the ball, he doesn't look at the goal nor the ball. He looks at somewhere else (maybe spectators) instead. And he knows the ball went through the white line and got into the goal without looking at the goal nor the ball.
However, in PES/WE series (not only PES3), forwards look at the ball whenever they shoot and celebrate immediately after the ball gets into the goal. Players stop running and stop looking at the balls whenever the ball goes out of bounds. They also look at the middle of the field before they make crosses, and then look back to the ball and make crosses.
Secondly, you said there are wider range of type of scores in FIFA.
In fact, the truth is the other way around.
In FIFA 2004, you can almost always get a goal when you shoot just outside the box. And you can always get goals using the same methods. Also you can't even make a short corner in FIFA 2004. Not even to mention the ball always drop into the same places in corner kicks. But I agree that the Free Kick system in FIFA 2004 is much better than FIFA 2003 though.
For PES3, first, you have to practice shooting. You always send the ball so high because you always press the shoot button too long.
Have ever seen the variety of goals can be made by PES 3?
Just look at the golden goals in some PES websites. Every goal is different and can be scored in different positions. Some goals are scored even because of defenders or keeper mistakes.
And you adjust how far the ball goes by how long you press the button, in shooting, long pass, free kicks and CORNER KICKS. (of course you can make a short corner in corner kicks) Also, please look at the control manual of PES 3 that how to take free kicks. You can kick the ball higher, lower, with spin with different button combinations and adjust the power by pressing the length. You can even shoot a ground ball if you like. Besides, you can control how the wall reacts when defending free kicks. One player jumps, 2 players jump, everyone jumps, one player runs toward the ball but other players stand still, everyone stands still................
You talked about range and depth too. Actually you were not talking about range and depth. You were just talking about license. (which can be done even by patch)
In terms of range and depth, PES 3 is years ahead of FIFA 2004. Just look at the player attributes. There are at least 3 times more in PES3 than FIFA 2004 for a player. You can see the difference when you each player, not only by appearance, but also by the way they play. Ronaldo and Owen run much faster. Raul can shoot in more positions. Zidane passes the ball much more accurate. Beckham kicks free kicks better......................
But in FIFA 2004, they are no big difference for every player.
And there are much more formations you can choose in PES 3. You can edit each position for each player, costomize to what you need. That is much better than FIFA 2004
And for Gameplay..........
The defence is tight in PES 3 because the AI in PES 3 is very good and "smart". If you feel it's too hard you can try a easier level and practice. And you can control your players however you want.
Moreover, the computer change their defense style if you want to score the same way again and again. So that you have to be creative and give variations.
In FIFA 2004, it is so rediculous that R. Carlos even never attacks. (And he is even the captain of Real Madrid. Come on, EA.......)
But Off the control is a good feature in my opinion. It gives us more freedom though. But the AI is not smart enough. They always attack in similar ways.
Sorry for this long reply and thank you for reading.
