Review

Key to PES 2008 is a proprietary adaptive AI system entitled Teamvision. Unique to the Konami game, Teamvision is a sophisticated AI programming that learns and adapts according to an individual's style of play. As such, it will learn new ways to build attacks and to counter specific movements and previous attacking or defensive errors, ensuring games are more in line with the tactical but flowing nature of the real thing.

With the Pro Evolution Soccer series renowned for its fluid, realistic gameplay, the new game builds on the implementation of Teamvision with additional key advances. As with previous releases since its inception in 1996, the ball is again treated as a separate entity, with the timing of shots entirely down to the player, while the new AI ensures that defenders work to close down space and block efforts on goal. Similarly, distribution of passes works along the same lines, with players using the space available to them to switch the ball. Close control has also been enhanced with more control when dribbling the ball, and a number of subtle moves added to bypass defenders and move the ball into space.

Working in conjunction with the Teamvision system, every aspect of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008's on-field play has been reworked and fine-tuned to create the balanced and strategic play of a high stakes match. Set-pieces have been improved, with full control given over the number of players and the position of the defensive wall. A wider range of set piece options are also available to make use of specific talents within the team.

'Next Generation' versions of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008's are further enhanced by stunning aesthetic elements. Player detail has been taken to incredible levels with full facial animation and the high-definition detail afforded by the hardware used to show full movement and subtle details to the various kits during the course of a match. All 'Next Gen' versions will also benefit from an extensive Edit mode.

PC IS THE NEXT-GEN VERSION, unlike fifa '08...:taz::taz:(N)(N)

You can't take Konami's pre-release crap seriously.

Looking at the videos gameplay wise it doesn't look anymore enhanced than pes2006, there is still problems with player positioning and movement off the ball etc ....but probably the videos are beta and not the final code so we might see an improvement with the final code.

And, I wonder what crap will be on the pc pes2008 cover ????

Pes 5 it had 'play against players from around the world online' on the cover ...

Pes 6 it had 'play ps2 players online' ....

If it say's 'have a night out with beyonce knowles with complimets from konami' on the cover, you know it's an outright lie ....:hump:

online play

yeah it may be 1v1 only, but i'm 90% sure you can still do guest play (two players on one account by pressing start at the controller select menu)

they'll still be making changes. there might be 2v2 come october 26th (Y)

2v2 was a bit of a bitch though to be honest
or even 2v1 (with 2 different players, not guest play), as you could be raring to go and start match and at the last second some fucker comes in to your match room and joins the game and you can't do out about it
and espescially if the player comes on your team
and they're foreign
therefore the multi-continental connections lead to lag
it is a real pain in the backside
and you don't get any plus rating, just points
with guest play on the other hand, you get both as you do with 1v1 :p

It's confirmed it's 1 vs 1 online only.

As you say loz, surley it will have guest play for the same account though.

Let's face it, the pes 6 online module was an absolute joke.

Obviously they need more time to work on it before we get the 2 vs 2 back etc.

Do we have any idea yet what the required specs for the PC version are likely to be? I'm still running PES5 on an old Radeon 9600 Pro and it works fine, but I realise the world may have moved on since...

WHAT?!
It seems like Nvidia have bought half of the game publisher/dev houses. I can somewhat understand that the cutting edge graphixx like those in Bioshock could bet too complicated for 2.0 version, but not the game we seen in the screens and gameplay videos. Pes 2008 graphics seems totally 3 years old. There's no possible logical explanation for need in pixelshader 3. xt800/850 users get ****ed up once agains and this time for no f u c k i n g reason.
Bah...

So does that mean I can put Jens in the wall aswell???

:hump:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogzr-k-yXPQ

well, i couldn't give you a definite answer first time round, but having seen this video, the free kick at the end suggests that you can put every outfield player in the wall, but not the keeper
but you know never know
the reviews have been ranting on about pes2008's enhanced realism
so you could get jens coming out from between the posts to push someone over then the ref allows a quick free kick only to be lofted over the wall and into and empty net :mrpimp:

...leaving jens all :f***: and asking for a yellow :p

there's also further evidence of newcastle's licensing in the vid.

Great price too at gameplay.co.uk and play.com for the pc, saving over 50% than the 360 and ps3. :Carlos*o:

Does gameplay.co.uk do international shipping? I'm from the U.S. so I was wondering if they will be able to ship the game to the states.
