I tell you what...I didn't see you backup my question I asked you "where are the facts". FIFA outsells PES. That is a fact, where are yours

Well let me use this as an example!

Fiat sell more cars than Ferrari, but does that make Fiat the better car??

Another one of you're so called facts quashed!

Ok so a fiat can outsell a Ferrari, but not everyone wants a Ferrari. You see what I mean? It's not always down to which one YOU think is better. In terms of cars, the Ferrari may handle better, be faster, look nicer, etc. BUT, the Fiat will be a better choice to some and they may even do that weird thing where they 'name' their car and end up going crazy if they have to get rid of it. How can someone do this when the Ferrari is so much a more expensive and faster car? Well, that's because it isn't a FACT that the Ferrari is better. It's just more suitable for a certain type of driver. You can forget what I said about the whole 'naming' the car, this is just my example of how some people get a 'relationship' between the car, even if it isn't a great car in some people's eyes. Some think "speed, handling" others think "gets me from A to B"

I knew some neighbours down the road from me with a 3-wheeler car, they wouldn't get rid of it, and they loved it. They were an oldies couple. Weird sure...but that's self preference for you. To them, it was the best. Now tell me they would see a Ferrari as a better car?

If you had a son who was born with an arm missing and was given the choice to swap for a "perfect child", but you loved your son...would you make the exchange?? hmmmm, again...my fact is not quashed. Some people might, most wouldn't.

Your example of fiat and Ferrari was convenient for you, but in most cases it will back-fire. football games are not black and white. Visa-versa. And FIFA 08 certainly in my eyes isn't the underdog in terms of gameplay. Especially not compared to Pro Evo 6 on my 360. You may think I am crazy, but that is self preference and it's a FACT that people have opinions, but opinions themselves are never facts.

It is my opinion that FIFA 08 won’t be beaten, even if many think PES2008 is better, hey I will play it. But I do love my FIFA games, even if that to you makes me look kind of nuts.

I respect your opinion, sorry for going a bit nuts in the last post of mine, the issue here is that I think you’re having trouble taking in people’s judgement on other games. Project Gotham Racing or Gran Turismo? It’s PGR for me all the way...some would say otherwise, even if PGR may be voted best game in a certain convention. Doesn’t do enough to change what the mind desires for others.

Let’s end it there, this is going on too long.

Guys, I've just played the PES 2008 demo.

Nack, man, All this time you have been talking and flaming people and comparing FIFA 08 to PES 2008, and along the way, I had a feeling that for some reason PES 2008 is going to be good, as usual.

I just played the demo of PES 2008, and oh my god, what an awful and disgusting game that was!

Right now I'm all smiles and don't know where to start with the horribleness of such game!

What did KONAMI do exactly? I felt very sorry to see the company who once created a very good football game, heading to the wrong with their last title!

OMG, it was the ugliest moment of my life when I played the PES demo!

Man, I had no idea at all that it was this bad.

Where should I start???

1. Gameplay:

Man, f*^k, but this game plays like Super Mario 3D! After playing FIFA 08's demo, playing PES 2008 was like going back to my PSP at the worst levels anyone can imagine! I don't want to sound like a fanboy, but I will have to; at this moment KONAMI is ruined, damaged with all the horrible actions that they've implemented in their new title! All these robotic runs, I seriously mean it, frekin "robotic", no life, not organic, a player who is running 30 meters away from th ball has the exact same run as a player running with the ball! I feel cold man, that was very weired!

Every shot and pass where programed, nothing is happening in a random way, nothing is being done in real life speed or physics or anything!

I must say that I didn't score any goal, which is a good deal, but with all that horrible gameplay method they are using this year I felt very disconnected from all forms of strategic football or build-up plays, I felt again that I have to just pass the ball and shoot, every single time, I didn't feel any reason to pass the ball back never! All I should do is point somewhere and the system will decide who should I pass it to, and it will reach someone 90% of the time.

That all sounds great if you are playing TAKKEN or something! but in football some advancements should be done about gameplay, just like in FIFA 08.

For the love of god, PES 2008 won best game in that gaming convention?!!!!?!?!?!?!?! Was that a joke?!?!

I can't continues anymore, I sound like an as*, but I can't sound better after hearing so much about this LAME PES 2008 then finding that it is simply pure crap.

If Konami dont try to rebuilt the physics and rewrite the code from scratch the game may be even worst next year

FIFA = REAL SIMULATOR
PES = ARCADE FOOTBALL

you guys make it sound like we can only choose one of the two....why not just play both...since its worth pointing that PES2008 has its goods points and FIFA 08 has its good points.....just try them both for crying out loud and you'll be able to judge for yourself, its a waste of time try convince others to have the same interests as you do..........

try both of the demos(once PES Demo comes out that is) and choose for yourself which one yer gonna buy....so there, its all entertainment.....

i'll be playing the PES2008 demo in 5 mins. From what I have read, even in the PES forum. It's a let down.

The game is arcade-speeds and the animation is crud.

ok just played the demo. I think a few people have been a little harsh on it. The gameplay actually isn't too fast. Just a tad...but not really noticeable. It plays at about the speed FIFA 07 does on the PC.

Ok, first match on Regular so I can get used to it and give it a fair run against the regular difficulty on FIFA 08 which is semi-pro in that game. A nice effort from Konami in the demo is I get to choose which difficulty I want.

ok so I'm Brazil v France. First half I had 4 chances but they were saved that the keeper rather easily. France had no shots, I defended well.

Second half, I put a goal in the bottom right corner from outside the box. It had good realistic pace. I enjoyed scoring it. Then near the end of the game, France forced a scripted goal on me in which they managed to magically make my keeper run out and score near enough closer to the corner flag. The goal looked awkward and staged. I didn't enjoy that at all since they only had 2 shots in the match against my what was now 10 shots and 8 on target.

So the result p*ssed me right off, cause it was unbalanced and unrealistic on papaer. In game is felt sripted.

Second match me Argentina v Turkey. turkey played better against me than France did, creating chances and putting my defence in trouble. Defending right on the edge was fun! but the passes they played were odd, like my defence switched off to allow an exciting moment of play so they could juuust miss the shot, keep me on my toes and if my friends were around me go "wow close call *swig beer*". It seems Konami has put a lot of scripts into the game to make it entertaining. Hell it is entertaining! But not very pleasing when there's nothing you can do about it in time, even if there are buttons you can use to stop it...it's just a bit too late.

game ended 0-0, I should have scored, so should they.

My verdict on the demo is Regular PES08 vs Regular FIFA 08 [semi-pro] is PES much easier. FIFA 08 is far harder to create chances like I was doing in PES08. a few quick passes and you're 1v1 with perhaps a defender up your arse ready to tackle you from behind!

The whole animation thing is what I thought. PES08 animation is actually crap. It's not nice to watch and looks like a PS2 game running on my 360. Someone sort that out, Konami???!

The game is scripted, so bad. You can't enjoy the animation because it all looks the same, the players' still do that thrusting thing when taking a throw in, which is just silly looking as they swing back and forth unrealistically. goalkeepers still do awkward amazing saves when the ball is shot right close up they manage to 'home in' and catch it magically, I mean WTF?!?!?! How on earth is this possible and how on gods green land did this game get the best at the convention? Got to be fixed.

All in all it's a decent kick-about. But it still feels like an easy PES6. I had trouble scoring in PES6, but this PES08 demo is in fact easier. I can hit the target with almost every shot and get myself into a pretty dangerous position after 5+ passes.

In FIFA 08 this is impossible because the game simulates a true football experience and way of thinking.

PES team-vision is non existent. I didn't notice it, maybe like the previews say it's subtle as they didn't notice it either.

If anything I'd say FIFA 08 has team-vision more so than Evo.

My money is on FIFA 08 still. I've played both and FIFA is clearly, CLEARLY (unless you're just daft) the next-gen game. It plays and LOOKS next-gen.

GET THIS CURRENT-GEN GAME OFF MY 360!! I feel sorry for PS3 owners, as they've spent all this money and are buying a game that could run on a PS2. Pathetic from Konami.

EA SPORTS win this year. Konami's game feels like an updated old engine, wait a minute...IT IS!! That's why. EA's game is ahead.

I would like to add something Nick: The problem with the animation system or the game overall is that all players move really fast and in a robotic movement but the ball moves in a close-to-real speed, forcing the over all game pace to go slow, but at the same time feels weired because of the fast player movements. You know what I mean?

i agree. the blend between the two looks very awkward, the overall play feels awkward and arcade'ish.

I relaly don't know what Konami are thinking, nor do I take the PES fans as seriously when they claim PES is better than FIFA 08.

I'm not a FIFA fan/bum boy, if PES was really THAT good, I would switch. But it isn't. It's over-rated and this year it is very clear.

The game just isn't on par with next-gen FIFA 08, nothing in comparison to what Ea have done. FIFA 08 feels new and next-gen, whereas PES2008 feels current-gen with a little bit of polish and really it could have ran on a PS2 just as well.

FIFA 08 next-gen can't run on a PS2, that tells you something.

What a bummer. I was hoping PES be good as well. I hear you about it looking last gen. I remember DL'in the last PES demo on my 360 and thinking how much it does not belong on a next gen machine. Then I saw the way they "run" (like choppy robots), the menus, audio, etc were all horrid. Needless to say I erased it soon enough. Perhaps Konami needs a new PES dev team with fresh ideas and the will to make it a great next gen game. So far, EA is owning in sports titles this year (surprisingly)! NHL 08 is super excellent(better than NHL 2K8) NBA LIVE demo looks great and I much preferred it to NBA 2K8 demo (which is weird), Tiger Woods game looks bad ass and now this bad ass fifa simulator.
Fifa 08 is so simulation that its sick. It plays so realistic, its animations are outstanding, graphics are very next gen and audio will be excellent as usual. Can't wait for the full version. Now let me go play the demo for the 40th time:lui:

Don't know where others played this game, but I saw and played it at the Tokyo Game show and it's not bad at all.

I'm not saying it's better than Fifa 08, but this game still has another 4-6 months to go ( at least ). I wouldn't count it out by any means.

If anybody is interested I have a bunch of images from the show ( only a couple of Winning Eleven though, may find more somewhere else, we shot a lot of different stuff, it was pretty crowded, and by the time I got to play it, my friend took off with the camera ).

I see what you mean man, but I'm sorry to tell you that what you played which we also played is the 98% of the final version of the product!! Surprised?

Well, the release date on Xbox 360 is Oct 26, 2007, and on PS3 Nov 22, 2007. (The PS3 has a very frustrating way in coding stuff for it, hens the more time they will need to get it out)

Sooo, don't get any excited, the game is how it is right now and they have about 7 days to edit anything in it so that they can send it out for production and packaging.

Don't know that you played the same version though ( unless you were at the same show, otherwise this could have been a quite different version ).

The one I played at the show was on PS3 and was pretty good. xbox360 version, which I haven't played is supposedly noticeably worse than PS3.

The PS3 has a very frustrating way in coding stuff for it, hens the more time they will need to get it out

Maybe for other developers, but not Konami. Judging by Metal Gear Solid , they will be one of the few that will sell loads of Playstations.

forzadelpiero every game thus far that is on both 360 and PS3 is noticeably better on the 360.

So I'm not sure why a low-graphics game like PES will make any difference to this.

forzadelpiero, trust me man, both Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of PES 2008 are identical, one will have brighter colors or darker gama just like all games that come out for both consoles, that's all.

Lots of talk is being made over the net about PS3 being more powerful, and I have to say that after opening both systems and reading about each of their components they are both almost identical, believe me.

Sony always says: "the most powerful system", meaning that it has more open resources such as the ability of adding blue-tooth devices or simply having wireless built in, but all of that doesn't mean that the processor is faster or the graphic card is better. And by the way, having more space on the disk dosn't have to be a good sign, more space could only mean little bit longer missions, but not better graphics and all, because the inside system is still the same. It is just like having a 5 years old PC with blu-ray writer! the system will not be able to handle all the buffer and read speed even though that Blu-ray is very fast and powerful.

And it is a fact that many developers are having huge problems creating games for the PS3, that's why Konami has been working now for over 3 years on MGS 4, and there are 8 months left until they finish; I think that this is way too much for one game; Also the PES 2008 is going to be delayed for the PS3 for the same reasons.

If Konami would produce a Metal Gear Solid for the Xbox 360 they would've been done already.

Anyways, For me at least, PES 2008 is a joke by Konami, it is not will developed, and after playing FIFA 08 then trying PES 2008 I felt sick down to my pants! Good luck for them in 2009.

Can't say since I haven't played xbox version, but Winning eleven at the Tokyo show, for PS3 was a pretty good game.

MGS4 is better than anything I've seen to date, so that would indicate that PS3 is capable of better stuff than xbox. We;ll never know whether Konami could have done the exact same game on the xbox, since it's exclusive to PS3

I guess, we'll have to wait and see when all this comes out. But from my experience Winning eleven on PS3 will be a pretty good game.
