PES2008 European News: EPL Licensed Teams HERE (amongst other things)

Prepare to be rather pleasantly suprised. It's fair to say that Konami have bagged many new team licenses for PES2008, the latest, forthcoming installment of the Pro Evolution Soccer series. But the big debate over the years has been about the lack of licensing in English Premier League teams. Well, let me assure you that Konami have not put themselves out to back any more than 2 EPL licenses this time round. That's right, there's only 2 licensed English teams for the third year running.

However, we have all been wondering who these potential 2 teams would be. That's where I come in. Allow me to put your minds at rest folks, this year's PES game will have the following 2 English teams licensed (well 3 including the England national team):

Newcastle United and Tottenham Hostpur.

Here's the proof:

Right, well, swiftly moving on, the following has been announced:

Confirmed Licenced Leagues:

  • Spanish La Liga
  • Ligue 1
  • Italian Serie A
  • Eredivisie

Again, sadly there's no Bundesliga.

Confirmed Licensed Teams:

  • Anderlecht (Belgium)
  • Club Brugge (Belgium)
  • Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia)
  • FC Copenhagen (Denmark)
  • FC Honka (Finland)
  • Bayern Munich (Germany)
  • Olympiacos (Greece)
  • Panathinaikos (Greece)
  • AEK Athens (Greece)
  • Rosenborg BK (Norway)
  • Wisla Krakow (Poland)
  • Benfica (Portugal)
  • FC Porto (Portugal)
  • Sporting Lisbon (Portugal)
  • Spartak Moscow (Russia)
  • Lokomotiv Moscow (Russia)
  • Celtic (Scotland)
  • Rangers (Scotland)
  • Dynamo Kiev (Ukraine)
  • AIK Fotboll (Sweden)
  • Hammarby IF (Sweden)
  • Helsingborgs IF (Sweden)
  • IFK Göteborg (Sweden)
  • FC Basel (Switzerland)
  • Besiktas JK (Turkey)
  • Fenerbahce (Turkey)
  • Galatasaray (Turkey)
  • Red Star Belgrade (Serbia)
  • Boca Juniors (Argentina)
  • River Plate (Argentina)
  • Internacional (Brazil)
  • São Paulo (Brazil)

Ok, so, several things. Why are there 4 licensed Swedish club teams? Why is there no CSKA Moscow? Basically why not have all the teams from this years Champions League? Then again, they would've only just found out who most of the 3rd and 4th seeds were in the last 10 days, so forget that.

I'm sure it'll still be amazing :D

  • Austria
  • Belgium

Then what? Edit the names of the teams and that's it. At least the names aren't like Fabregoy or Dorgibe. And I'm more worried about gameplay than licensed teams. That's why I prefer PES to FIFA.

Oh, FC Porto, Benfica and Sporting Lisbon licensed (H) awesomee.

Yeah, just edit the names of the teams. I hope they do the same for the Bundesliga because the empty space like last year sucks.

It's not a big deal really since the PES community has talented patch makers..
Rosters don't seem to be fully up to date based on that screenshot..
