Perhaps it's just me, or maybe Konami have made a fundamental change to the shooting, or perhaps it's just more exaggerated now than it was before.

I feel that this is one area where Konami have fallen over. The time taken to line up for a shot and actually shoot is far too long when you compare it to the time a COM player can take to move into a position (from a relatively long distance) to block a shot.

hallelujah... at least one other person who has noticed that... when i started a "too many blocked shots" discussion a few days ago the fanboys said this was "nonsense", and "no, it's so realistic" and "it happens all the time.. just watch a real match"... well, watch a real match tomorrow and count how often a shot is blocked... (i am not saying it has to go in...)
It's so funny that very year when a new version comes out people claim it's so "realistic"...no matter how much the shooting engine has changed... in PES1 virtually no shot from just outside the box got blocked and most actually got in... "Realistic!".. in PES2 the magic blocking started.. "Realistic!"... this year the blocking is even more exaggerated.. "Realistic!"... next year Konami will maybe finally balance it out, but no matter how the result, i am sure someone will claim how "realistic" it all is, even if that meant that all previous versions are rendered "unrealistic" posthumously, so to say...
besides that, there is no doubt that the game has vastly improved. the biggest improvement for me is that the CPU does actually play combination football and not just blast pixel perfect passes upfield all the time as it did in PES2. the speed is still a tad too fast for my taste... but i am sure some find it "realistic"...
