Player Potentials

Hello, I wanted to ask if someone has already figured out how fast players will reach their potential at what age.
I have noticed that the older the players are, the less OVR points they gain. Young players on the other hand get quite a few points.
I played my first career season in the game at Semi Pro to test out how the players' OVR rise when constantly winning by a high goal difference (thus maintaining a high form). My young players who were around 20 and below and played a few games quickly gained +5 or even +6 on their OVR after the first half of the season (starting at around 60-65). Early and Mid 20's players who play often got around +4 or +3 after the first half (starting at around 70-75). Late 20's players got +1 or +2 at most. Players around 30 who did have a higher potential than their OVR gained nothing despite playing often and having a high form.
I also noticed that +6 seems to be the most a player can get in one season. After my young players got their +5/6 boost already after the first half of the season, they did not improve any further. However, right at the start of the new season, some players already got +1/2 despite not having played a game.

I've also noticed that young players with mediocore stats in the 50's or 60's tend to get boosts on every single stat while older players will only improve very few stats (but then they'll gain +5 boosts on them eventually). But I think that was the case in Fifa 12 already as well.

Having a good form seems to also prevent old players from dropping their OVR. My 36 years old Goalkeeper lost 2 points until I pushed his form to "good". He didn't lose anything from then on. When his form dropped to "ok" again, he started losing points again.

That are my discoveries as for now, perhaps someone can confirm them or has something to add.

Thank you BlackEmperor for sharing the info!

I play with Chelsea in a career mode. I have Piazon who is 61 and has a potential of 85. I bought a GK Cragno who is 60 and grows to 85. I rotated the entire team and these players got around 15 games I guess. Both grew +6 points as you mentioned. I wanted to check if the grow over +6 so gave them more number of games but it did not go beyond +6.

I got LBs Willems and Mbaye both grew +4/5.

Torres has a potential of 85 as well as a current of 85. He grew +2 and now is 87, which is beyond his potential!

My Lampard got a good number of games but he dropped two points.

I guess if the players get a good number of games and are in good form as you mentioned, they can go over their potential!

This sounds interesting! I think someone mentioned some of his players who have 80's potential being somewhere at 90 OVR after a few years. This could be some kind of confirmation.
I think that it also depends on the age. I made a test and raised Cacau's potential to 80, but he did not improve at all despite performing very well, shooting many goals and playing often.

As for young players, you don't even have to let them play and they'll still improve. I think that's a nice touch.

I've seen +7 as the most a stat or ovr will change in a year. Form seems like it impacts growth even more than it did last year.

Some annoying things from this year is the incredibly slow rate of growth of keepers. Seemed they grew fast last year and they swung it in the other direction.

Non-academy youngsters, so real players, when you get them young with low STAM, the STAM just doesnt increase in proportion to the rest of their stats. I have multiple players where they are approaching a rating of 80 yet their STAM is around 60 tops. So they have to sit games, which gets them angry, and its an annoying juggling act.

Yes youngsters will get better if you just leave them on the bench, but they can grow about 2x as much if you play them and they are in the green for form.

As for the beyond potential, if you keep people form high, they will sit 2-3 points above. Also seen with older players (over 30), if their form is low or they are upset, their stats will tank. If you are playing them and they are doing well their stats will do ok.

I have noticed stats for older players (think Forlan), tank like 10+ points between seasons, and that's a terrible bug.
