Porn in the Babes Forum

I think we need some way of stopping new users from accessing the Babes Forum, so many of these spamboys and bots posting porn and full frontal in there lately.

OR how about we setup a seperate porn forum with age restrictions... then again new users could just reset their birthdate

Yeh the spam bots ARE the absolute death of these forums, we need to sort them out as well.

We had an "Anything Goes" forum on here years ago for that kind of thing, it eventually got scrapped for a number of reasons. So I'm told.

It's getting way out of hand, even the image verification feature on registering new accounts is getting bypassed somehow by these bots... and they said it was botproof, pah!

I know some forums keep their entire sections private to guests but that possibly might not solve the issue, I guess we'd have to make it such that new registrants can only post in, say, the new members section initially, and after 1 post, they're free to post anywhere. I know its difficult for the mods to eradicate the nonsense because they have their own lives to live of course and can't be on here 24/7.

That's a good suggestion which we've already talked about between the mods, but I think at the end of the day nobody knows how to do it

I know it's possible on some other forum software, or maybe also via use of some code hack modification for vBulletin, but yeah, if nobody knows how to do it there's not a lot that could be done.

Unless Lior knows how, but he's rarely on here much now it seems.

It doesn't matter. There is no one to take or force any kind of action against such spammers here at SG. Because they are not always bots you know.
I have found for example what's causing the new thread issue a long time now, pointed towards the solution, but no-one is able or interested enough to solve it. SG forum, and I also believe the main site too (to some extend) is like a boat with a captain, but with noone being on the wheel.

The forum keeps running because there are some people like Tom, Hakeem (me) and few others who are stupid enough spend their time trying to keep things here to... a semi-tolerable level.

Keeping it private to everyone may just solve the porn problem, but that means.....new members will be harder to attract. From my personal experience (in past years, ofcourse) I would be less interested in going through the hassle of signing up on a forum only to reaise that the forum wasn't what I thought it was(which would lead to my subsequent forgetting that it even existed). That was infact one of the main reasons why I had no problem with SG.......I could(and did) spend some time just browsing as a neutral, before signing up. You won't get that with the private thing.

Yeah actually I hate members only boards aswell. For example if you want to read some information that's beeing written on a forum which is restricted, it's very annoying if you can't(like on the SI forums for example).

Places gamefaqs hold restrictions on posting when you're new. And other places have your posts ass through a screening process, but that would require the mods to read through thousands of new posts....

Anything Goes Forum would not solve anything and wasn't the greatest idea at the time.

What I'm confused about is how all of the bots have positive rep. At first I thought people were repping them as a joke, but that doesn't really seem to be the case.

Nah I don't think so, some of those porn pics some of them bots and spamboys were posting were disgusting, fanny like a badly packed kebab, and so on. Besides, with a fair bit of advertising on this site the ads would get pulled if porn was permitted so allowing such a thing would be of no benefit whatsoever.

There is always the idea of admin approval for new registrations, though then again that depends on if and when they'll get round to approving or disapproving membership. Could always block new registrations to stop the spammers but we might get the odd person who genuinely wants to join be left out. What can we do? Image verification on new registrations clearly doesn't work.

BTW I reckon that babes forums really should get scrapped, all we get is porn in there from spambots, or some slappers off said crappy social networking site posted by duphregne. *awaits torrent of abuse*

I agree if it gets rid of the spammers, but I'm thinking it'll just filter into the Players' Lounge eventually, making the problem worse...
