QF #3: Netherlands - Russia [P + R]

^^wonky groin.....

WOW......one of the bigger shockers in recent history, man. I've yet to witness such a dreadful display of defending and general lack of spacing and tactical awareness from a highly touted side like the Dutch. The Russians out hustled, out witted and creatively out produced the Dutch for almost the entirety of this match. It was truly astonishing to watch this ENORMOUS underdog completely dismantle and unrelentingly thrash the Oranje without any remorse or dissipation. It wasn't like they caught the Dutch in a momentary lull or with their switch off, man. The Crazy Ivans were flawless and imposing to a significant degree through out the whole match.

It was truly gut wrenching to see the Crazy Ivans relinquish the lead near the end because they were thoroughly deserving to take it in regular time by atleast a two goal margin. I was convinced that the Dutch were just gonna rip their hearts out in extra time with the momentum and enlivenment that they gained from scoring that heart pulsatingly late goal to tie the match. But true to the preceding events in the game, the rancid vomit that was posing as the Dutch defence quickly livened up the spirits of the Russians with its retarded porousness....it was truly revolting (or marvelous depending on where your loyalty lay) to witness possession after possession on how the Russians were cutting up and dissecting the Dutch at will.......just about every time they touched the ball they were creating dangerous opportunities, man.

Hiddink.....enough can't be said about this man's brilliance.....what an immense genius.....he thoroughly embarrassed and outclassed his home country with his outstanding gameplan. With the way his squad was outplaying the Dutch, it seriously seemed as though the Dutch were playing with a man down the whole game.. There was a side of me that wanted thE Dutch to take it after they'd come back to tie it because there's a lot of players from their squad that I really like and I also love their style and sense of natural flairness, but after seeing how the Russians shrugged off that mentally crippling goal and became even more resolute and determined, I really can't begrudge 'em on this historic victory.....it was one of the more courageous and commanding wins by an underdogt that I've ever seen, man......the Dutch could not have been more pathetic, exposed and disturbingly powerless......what a brutal RAPE.

I think this pretty much sums up the russian performance. I have never seen anybody run like that for 2 straight hours. No, let me say that again. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYBODY RUN LIKE THAT FOR 2 STRAIGHT HOURS. .

NO DOUBT! That entire squad needs to be tested........immediately!!

who cares even if they have been doping?? all players should take performance enhancing drugs if we can get more games like this!! and less games like the way greece, italy, romania etc play.

^^hurhurhur......RIGHT ON!

can someone explain to me why Seedorf refused the call up for this tourney? There's gotta be something substantial behind it because I can't imagine him being that much of a horrible c/unt, man.

Haven't read all of the thread but Russia played awesome, I hope they go far with their style.

The ref was terrible, he gave almost all advantages to Holland (except the red card retraction) and he should have sent off the Holland player in 2 instances where he harshly fouled Arshavin just because Russia was winning and he was frustrated.

P.s. I'm not sure what the black arm bands were for, Bulharouz child died? Maybe that demoralized Holland because they played very badly, unlike other games.

Yeah the arm bands were for Bouhlarouz' child that died when it was born just a few days ago. Perhaps LeeStewart can buy one...

I'd say the ref wasn't terrible. He was always in control of the match. If he should have sent someone of, it should've been that Russian player who at first did get his second yellow but it was withdrawn when the assistent referee said the ball went out of play first. It clearly wasn't though.

Still, again, Russia deserved to win.

Jeez, just imagine what Bouhlarouz was feeling. :(

As for the retraction, that showed real bottle from the ref to overturn it (I think the assistant told him the contact was minimal, rather than the ball going out of play) Shame our refs don't have the courage to do that.

I was impressed with Russia, Kuloden has one hell of a piledriver on him!

Holy crap, what a performance from Russia. And I was at a party at the time where I was the ONLY one cheering for Russia...and I practically NEVER do that. Well done, comrades. (H)

Bonzi got a late birthday present.

I was rooting for Holland, but I'm not too unhappy about the result, as Russia has been playing really well - and let's admit it - everybody loves an underdog-story.

Arshavin is a great player, just unbelievable. If he wants to play in Europe, he can pretty much choose the team to play for right now.

Think if the Russians win the EURO. They already won the Eurovisions, what next? (H)

Could ne the wave of the future of European football....maybe a Russian team will make a run at the champions league...who knows...all I know is that this Russian team looks as indestructible and audacious and fast as that St. Petesburg team that destroyed the field on their way to the UEFA this year

i would love to know how many times Bonzi and Mika whacked off to the huge amounts of praises being lavished on their squad in this thread? I know that I had them on my mind as I was making my summary post with the sole purpose of gratifying their nationalistic verve so that maybe they could pos-rep me (still havent received one yet, btw) or something.

Anybody remembered the Kolodin incident? He booked the player and then he consulted the assistant on the far side. The ref rescinded the card immediately after that. Top ref that bloke.

well put. You hardly, if ever, see that in the game, man. It wasn't even a card worthy offense imo because it was highly embellished by the Dutch player....as was that pull down near the box that garnered 'em his first card.

Sevillista;2540297 said:
All of the fouls went in Holland's favor :(. If you pay attention, the Russians don't protest a single thing. If it were the Italians out there, there would be three guys around the ref after each call, intimidating.

Lets hope for some more good football!

NO DOUBT! But let's be fair here. You could just as easily interchange the Spaniards for the Italians in that statement.

Anyway, their deference to the ref's calls, professionalism and general fair-mindedness was almost as impressive to watch as their play. It was truly awe-inspiring to see a team in this modern age of soccer not vehemently protest every call made against them or harass and appeal to the ref incessantly, you know? For a moment there, I was yearning to be one of 'em....a bonafide Crazy Ivan.

I don't know if this is saying much, but that was probably his best outing as a ref that I've ever seen. My heart sank when I first saw his cocksucker's mug and gait on my screen, but I was pretty impressed with his overall performance this time around, man.

edit:......definitely.....that cocksucker was swinging his feet and shoulders around like machetes towards the end.....he was a pretty filthy player through out the entire tournament, actually....he had a great intent to injure, for sure.

Seedorf "was not on the same page" as Marco van Basten. Just like Mark van Bommel.

I'm heartbroken by the Oranje loss. But Russia was playing out of their skin, they put on a show, but no doubt they were assisted by the horrendous Dutch defence. I figured that a defence composed of a bench player at Blackburn, a mediocre player at HSV, an 35 year old midfielder for Feyenoord, and someone who's just had a personal tragedy were going to be exposed at some point in this tournament, too bad it came so soon...

No need to say though, that was an impressive game all around from Russia. They couldn't have done anything better, other than the overwhelming amount of obese topless dudes in the stands.

I was backing the Dutch to win the whole thing but i knew Russia would be a tough game. Ends up Russia obliterated the Oranje in every single sense. Not surprised though, Italy or France wasted a host of chances in their games against Holland and it was clear their defending wasnt up to par.

Then comes a team and manages to capitalize on their horrible defending - Russia, and there you go. Heitinga was utter crap in this match and was at fault for the second goal. A true great team manages to get the result even when things are not clicking for them, and Holland couldnt. Also, it was clear everything went their way in the first two matches, despite the great brand of entertaining football they showed.

Sad to see them go, but Russia is a worthy team and I think they can go on and win the whole thing if things go their way. As for Holland, if the team had a good manager maybe they could win it all, but Van Basten once again showed his lack of experience in the big stage. His team lacked organization at the back, creativity in the middle and tried the same stuff all the time, relying on long shots or glimpses of inspiration by their wingers, and like it or not, slightly inferior teams with better coaches have a bigger chance to win in knockout tournaments and that was proved once again.

Russia dont have the kind of individual class and flair the Dutch have, but they make up for it in other areas, playing like an unit and capitalizing on their opponents weaknesses, and that's Hiddink's "fault".

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long

Hiddink himself mentioned something similar to that, after the Sweden game. He also alerted journalists to the fact that, this year, Russia has also won the IIHF World (Ice) Hockey Championship (also known as the World Cup.....annual tournament) for the first time in 17 years.
