Question of the Week: Who will be the Best Players of the Future?

Bannan? Top ten in the WORLD in 2018? Dont make me laugh.

Nor will Pogba by the way.

In no particular order: Messi, Oscar, Neymar, Hummels, Lukaku, Bale, Willian, Kroos, Alexis Sanchez, Sterling (token English - I couldnt quite say Carroll with a straight face)

In reality half of those wont quite make it and will be replaced by players we have never heard of or players who remain top class despite getting on in years (Modric the new Pirlo?)

I would include Moura but he's playing at PSG.

EDIT: I left out Gotze deliberately cos I dont think he's quite gonna make it to the top.

You're nuts.

Good decision re: Goetze though.

Bannan still has a year to make it.
The "poor man's" Iniesta so to say.

Also I wonder what'll happen to Ravel Morrison's career. He's at Lazio at the moment, but I haven't heard of him doing anything incredible over there. Dunno if Italy is the best place for him, but considering what problems he had over in England (Manchester to be more precise) - it's better than nothing. And some sort of a variety in environment never hurts.

As loads of experienced players who were at the club (Manutd) at the time, like Paul Scholes for example, have said that he alongside with Pogba were the most talented ones, with Morrison even looking better.

But as times have showed being talented is just enough when it comes to football, you really gotta put your mind to it if you want to succeed at a professional level and work hard. Without doing so, you'll most likely end up playing for some mid-table club (if you're lucky enough).

There are plenty of examples like Balotelli, Quaresma and so on. It's not to late for the Italian, and even the Portuguese has managed to kind of get his act together in recent times.

EDIT: Completely forgot about him, but also when it comes to players whom to look out for in the future I'd say Marlos Moreno is one of them. Might have to do something with my bias when it comes to Colombian players, but still. When it came to Nacional winning the Copa Libertadores this year, he was one of their most important players. Too bad City signed him whom I don't exactly like too much, but I hope he does well during his loan spell at Deportivo La Coruna and develop into a great player.

1. Neymar
2. Toni Kroos (H)
3. James Rodriguez
4. Thiago Alcantara
5. Paul Pogba
6. Leo Messi
7. Marco Reus
8. Isco
9. Romelu Lukaku
10. Henrikh Mkhitaryan

The only think I don't really like about my list is that I didn't think Messi would be the best player in the world and he clearly still is.

I feel really bad for 1860 though, they have had some really really awesome youth products leave in the last several years. Benders are the highest profile.

Kevin Volland
Lars Bender
Sven Bender
Fabian Johnson
Julian Weigl
Julian Baumgartlinger
Christian Trasch
Daniel Baier
Stefan Aigner
Moritz Leitner

That's really tough for 1860.

Agreed.

Also when going over that list of players I didn't see Depay in there. Same goes for Januzaj. Poet do you think based on the first season under Van Gaal at United he won't make it as a top player in the future?

IMO it's a bit early to judge the guy, I suppose it's the last season at United for him to get his career going, if not then he'll most likely be loaned out in January or shipped out completely at some stage. Although by the look of things, he doesn't really seem to be in Mourinho's plans. So he's gotta try and capitalize on every chance he gets (few minutes in the EPL as a substitute so far, and by the look of things it's not going to be much more), and mostly likely in the Europa League plus FA Cup and Capital One Cup.

As you all know Mourinho doesn't like to rotate that much, and considering the players he has at his disposal, it'll be even tougher for the Dutchman. With the likes of Rashford (although I don't see why some journalists and pundits like to put him on the wing very often, when he cleary excels in the striker role - but you cannot really displace Ibrahimović when the guy is clearly delivering, but as a United supporter I'd like to see Rashford getting to play a little more often to give the aging Ibra a rest at times as well. In order for him to develop) and probably even Lingard being ahead of him in the pecking order. Anyway time will tell.

(H) I didn't actually read the question but its likely to be among that list imo and tbh, its hard to quantify and conclude the best 10 players without being biased and unfair. How to calculate the impact of one player over his entire team of the future without no idea about the team of the future and other important details. Also we'd be underestimating defenders, midfielders and GKs but here are 18.

Depay is nothing special. Reminds of Podolski but more talented in terms of technique. Clueless application apart from shooting.

Btw, that first list, I missed out on a quite a few players considered talented so..
