ohh, I think you're being harsh on Dave Beckman ... he was the best crosser in the world bar none at one point ... and when you consider that his team played (well, still plays) an archaic 4-4-2, that's a big deal ...

We rarely play 4-4-2 now. We've been playing mostly with 4-2-3-1 this season and sometimes diamond 4-4-2 which often transforms to 4-3-3. We have a very flexible squad this season.

Most common lineup:

Secondary lineup (used mostly when we are out of wingers):

which often transforms to this:

Arnau

Poor Carrick always has a huge field to cover alone, he would be happy with Pogba alongside.

About non talented players Gatusso is the best so far, imposible to achieve more with what he has got.

No, Cleverley is doing pretty well alongside Carrick. This partnership has been pretty consistent this season.

I don't know but he's got a pretty shitty attitude. You can't compare these two as well because they are very different. Cleverley is a better passer with close to 90% pass completion rate and makes more assists (Cleverley 3 v/s Pogba 0 this season) but Pogba is a better scorer (Pogba 4 v/s Cleverley 3). Pogba gets way more media attention because he scores spectacular goals. Doesn't make him a better player overall.

Speaking of, I need to put it in this thread.

Paul Pogba. I just love him. I love that he's young and talented and didn't allow himself to be taken advantage of. It's clear that United kept him in the reserves to gain leverage in his contract situation; if he had only a couple senior appearances he would not expect as good of a contract offer as if he had succeeded in the Premier League. I'm positive that the moment he signed that 4-5 year deal at a low wage he would have been playing for the first team last season. But he refused to be taken advantage of and I just love that. He told Man U to shove their insulting offer up their ass and went to a club that valued him. I would have loved it at any club (except Bayern of course), but that he did it to Man U and Fergie just makes me love him more.

That's bullshit. You're very biased, as usual. This is not the way United function. If someone's good, he gets play time. Maybe he wasn't good enough last season to start games and he would probably get more play time this season. Fergie himself told him that his time would come.

Again, thats bullcrap. You clearly have no idea about how the team functions. If someone is getting more involved in the first team at United, he gets a contract upgrade even before the end of the contract. For example, Chicharito, Welbeck, Evans etc all got significantly improved contracts as they were playing more often, even though they had 3-4 years left in their contract. Same would happen to Pogba if he had stayed and played in the first team.

Yeah we all love him. Overall, the team is doing great. Pogba out but van Persie in. Working great so far. As I said, players come and go but United always perform well under Ferguson. If someone wants to leave he can **** off. We will continue winning games anyhow because the class in the team remains.

Who cares, United is doing well and is top of the league at the moment. He is doing way more good than bad.

United is not doing well. It's scraping by thanks to van Persie and the medicority of its competitors. I would be shocked if even the underachieving, turmoiled Madrid don't walk all you. I dunno if Pogba would have solved your problems, propbably not, but considering that Juve's midfield is much better than yours and he's still impressed there, having him around would have been preferable, especially since you didn't sign anyone to solve your long-running midfield frailty.

Yeah, we'd have more options and flexibility with him. He offers something that our other midfielders don't. He definitely would not solve our problems this season but potentially could in a few years when Carrick, Scholes etc are gone.

Our league form is actually one of the best in terms of points gained but you're right though; the overall strength of the top teams has fallen quite a bit this year, which partly explains our form. We had 55 points after 22 games in the league this season and surprisingly, this was better than any team has ever managed since the introduction of three points for a win in the 1981-1982 season.

van Persie saves us lots of games but if he wasn't at United, we'd be getting more goals from Rooney, who has played in midfield this season.

I don't think so. RVP is a better forward than Rooney and his goals have saved United a bunch of times. I get the same feelingas I did when we would win with the Mazacar. It was nice to win, but it just took attention away from a very real fault in the team that will transform into dropped points sooner or later.

I've seen this argued a few times here - who cares if RvP scores all the goals for Man U? All that matters is that they get scored. Good for them that they pwned him from Arsenal.

I'm not dissing United. I'm saying that sooner or later those goals won't be scored and they will drop a lot of points because they are so top-heavy.

Yeah wouldn't be surprised if that happened. I see it happen if RvP gets injured but luckily we have Rooney as backup for the striker role and Kagawa in the AMF role. That being said, Rooney's form is very variable. Right now his form is terrible.
