Question on Multiplayer & Difficulty Levels

Does anyone know if the difficulty level setting (Amateur, Semi-Pro, Pro, World Class) has any effect on two-player PS2 matches? Do the goalkeepers or non-controlled players on the field behave differently in multiplayer matches depending on difficulty level?

Yeah, if you play on a harder difficulty the computer defenders and the goalkeepers will be much tougher for both teams.

Definetely, it's way to easy to beat keeper otherwise no matter who you're playing if it's on Amateur. But then again, your opponent can just let the CPU defend for them.

Thanks. Here's why I'm asking: we play a FIFA tournament at work every year (since WC '98). Everybody who plays is pretty good -- not great, but pretty good.

For the first 5 years, we averaged around 3.5 goals per match. But with FIFA '04, the goals average went down to around 1 per match. This was not fun. Lots of 0-0 draws.

We're doing our Euro 2004 tournament this summer, and we want to increase the scoring -- so it sounds like playing on Amateur or Semi-Pro might dumb down the goalkeepers a bit and improve scoring.
