Quick Team Creator is a utility I plan to develop for FIFA 11.

I worked on the Football Conference (5th and 6th levels of the English football pyramid) patch for FIFA 09 and created a small program to help create the 44 teams of the 6th tier. The program took an input of the team id, team name and a list of player names and generated contents of the xml files in the cmp files. The appearance and attributes of each player was randomised. The program automatically set things such as the adboard id and ball id that I was using for the league to each team generated. This enabled the generation of the database items for each team to be created quickly, which was useful as only a small team worked on the patch. Since a lot of these teams are quite obscure not many people would notice that appearances where randomised.

The program I plan to develop for FIFA 11 will be quite similar. The idea is it will enable users to create patches more quickly if players are randomised. This is ideal if the teams are quite obscure. Although it is likely that this can be achieved using CM11 alone, my program will allow it to be done quicker.

The user will enter an id and a name for the team, and also a list of players. The program will also allow the user to specify the default ids for things such as font, ball and adboard. The program will also allow selection of colours for each kit from a small number of choices. The program will then output a cmp file with the necessary database xml files and also some generic graphics for kits and logos based on the chosen colours. The cmp could then be imported using CM11 and any edited if the user wished (eg to import real kits and logos).

What do you think of my idea? Would you use the proposed program to help make patches? Any suggestions for it? Remember it will only have a limited number of options, CM11 will exist for other things. I might make a mock up of the interface later to give a clearer idea.

And that's so true.

Man, that's a great project idea, I hope you can keep with that. Since I know the FIFA Manager Editor I've always wanted such a feature for CM or something similar. I was already thinking of requesting this thing. xD

If you need help regarding something like contray-specific Sur-and Lastnames .txts for creation of random player names, let me know.

I agree but you should make some filters in the random faces. I mean, ignore strange hair colors like grey or red, dont give players beards etc and if possible add some filters related to players nationalitty. (african players with black skin, east european blonde hair etc).

Thats what i have done in my FM to Fifa player converter i made for FIFA10.

darxxx: Sorry, my program requires CM11 to import teams into the game. My program can not be completed until after CM11 is released as I need to investigate the new cmp files.

Generic Oval: Thanks. I planned to allow random player names, in fact I have already collected a set of random english names. If you want to do the same for other languagues/counties that would be very helpful and I will include them in the program. I also want to make it easier to use real names, allowing users to copy and paste full names from websites (CM has separate fields for forename and surname, my program will split them when exporting).

bruno167: Good point, some restrictions on appearances are needed (ie black skin, red hair is not realistic). I think I may need to define a small number of ethnic groups and allow the user to define the chance of a player generated belonging to each.

I want to keep the options simple since CM11 will exist for more advanced editing. I was thinking of allowing the user to specify the following items as they may be constant for an entire league:
county id (for teams and players)
adboard id
ball id
stadium id (may only be realistic to use smallest stadium for low level teams)
number font id
short number position id
shirt name position id

Any other suggestions?

yes, i hope there will be a converter for teams , kits , rosters, stadiums, i have too many created teams for FIFA 10 to be able to recreate it in fifa 11

veggt: Maybe CM11 will be able to convert the database side of older team patches like in previous versions (most graphics are quite different from previous versions).

The program is in progress, might post a screen shot tomorrow. Remember, it can not be completed till after CM11 is released as I need to look at the new cmp format.

Preview of the program so far:



Numbers and names where generated by the random fuctions. For simplicity all teams are created using 4-4-2 formation (may add 1 or 2 other common formations later if that feature would be important to anyone). Positions of substitutes and other players can be set by the user.

moldovan: The FIFA09 version I made is much simpler and was specifically made for the Football Conference project. You can only input team ID, team name and player names. The output then has to be manually copied into xml files, which then have to be copied into a zip file and the zip file's extension changed to .cmp.
