fair enough on metzelder but, chivu 18 mill for a player that isnt gonna play centre back and probably will play left back, why spend all that money when we have marcelo and torres on that position, am i the only one here who thinks torres should be playing, he did more then enough last season to warrant a place in the team, no one seems to be mentioning him.

there is no doubting the guy is good, but i rmeber when we were first linked to him every one was saying he is too injury prone. i think we should of just go for andrade, iam not saying we shouldnt buy him because of his history with injurys but because he is too expensive and we have players in his position, and there is the whole thing with him having to adapt to the spanish league.

maybe iam making it sound worse then it is i dont know, well lets just wait and see, but atleast we are making some signing.

Even if Soldado singed a new contract he could still be loaned out, last I herad that is what HE wants to do so he can be a first team choice for a la liga team and maybe get into the squad for the Euro 2008. Also after Saviola's vacation was over it has been reported that he landed in Madrid so unless he is looking at Getafe or Atletico it seems like he will join us which is better than Tevez joining us.

Also according to Sky we have offered £6m for Reyes to Arsenal but they have rejected as they are holding out for £9.5m. It's good to see us actually make an offer for him and want to keep him, hopefully he can bitch some to keep the price low and have Arsenal more or less just give in.

Feyenoord will discuss Drenthe's future this week with his representative, they have said the biggest club to offically contact Feyenoord has been Real Madrid. If we get him we should just loan him back to Feyenoord for a little bit to improve more.

Now for something different, players leaving us instead of joining us. Raul Bravo lets set to join Olympiakos, Emerson looks set to leave, and Cassano will be gone too. Very nice, I will be happy to see all 3 leave.

Btw Soc, I know you hate/dislike Cicinho, but come on....he has played fantastic for us in his first year and when he came back from injury he wasnt bad either. I would definatly keep him in the squad. I compare him to Baptista, because he never complaints and he always works hard. And you also cant deny his lightning speed ;)

Again we are linked with a new player, this time the lucky one isssss Florent Malouda. I mean, WTF?! Every player gets linked with us, we are interested in Robben (the deal was as good as done), we are going to sign Reyes (if we believe Mijatovich) and now Malouda. 3 LWs. This is gonna be a great summer ;) To tell you the truth I would get Reyes over them all and hope he is gonna get his best form back. Robben is IMO the best LW, but I dont like his diving, his love for the ball and his injuries. Malouda is for me 3rd choise even if he is a world class winger.

As has been posted before the Chivu deal is really close to being done. The deal between Roma has already been agreed. El Larguero reported that Mijatovic was having dinner with Chivu's agent to iron out the rest of the deal. It's being reported that Chivu is asking for 5 million euros a season over 5-6 years ( personally speaking that seems a bit much for the salary but meh ).

Zaragoza have turned down an 18 million euro offer from Juve and are demanding 25 million for G. Milito. So if anyone of you guys were interested in him, I think it's better to just back off now.

Also Fabio's brother is saying that Cannavaro is planning on returning to Italy, man this really could be a great summer. Pavon gone, R. Bravo, Emerson, Cassano, and Fabio could leave.

Now I have to wonder, if Cannavaro heads back to Italy and Chivu plays as LB will we be getting another CB? So the backline could look like this

Chivu--NEW CB--Metz--Ramos

Also has anyone seen Chivu as a LB? How good is he at that position? If Chivu is a balanced fullback this could be a very solid backline, not too attack minded nor is it too defensive.

isnt that back 4 the other way around?

about chivu he started as a LB at ajax and thats how he caught roma's eye, i remember even seeing him play as a DM and he did a good job, all in all he is a very polivalent player kinda like marquez , but if you ask me as a CB imo he's the least good, LB is a good choice for him, you need a player that gives you balance in the flanks ( no more carlos, marcelo prototype players) let see if he remembers that posistion hehe... i didnt want him in barca cause of the injury prone issue, we had so much problems with injurys last season i dont think we need another, but then again its a matter of luck , maybe he will be lucky and doesnt get injured this season, iam glad you guys got him he is a less obstacle for us getting andrade, glad to hear about milito too, i know barca would never pay that money and i wouldnt want them to.

I think it's right, anyway you know where the players are supposed to be.

For the record, R. Carlos was one of if not the best leftback's ever. If Chivu is anything like Carlos in his prime I would be jumping up and down, that's how good the guy was in both the attack and the defence ( his ability to recover his position and taclking was just great ). Anyway it's nice to know that he can attack, I am thinking we might play him there so it's a more experience LB. Also one last thing I have not heard too much about anyone getting Andrade TBH, it seems like you guys are going to start working on the G. Milito deal.

justhammy - Hopefully we will start to hear something about him leaving.

well calderon has said that we will either get robben or malouda, if chelsea get malouda we get robben if chelsea keep robben we get malouda.

i bet chelsea really hate us right now.

we just need a right winger and that is it for us this season.

i dont know maybe its because we have diferent views of left and right, you are looking at a lineup going from down to up , and i am going from top to bottom , i think thats what happened lol, so forget about it, it doesnt matter hehe.

chivu is good, but he is no roberto carlos , then again who is (cause i do consider him the best ever), and you need to know this now its been long that chivu hasnt play regulary in that position, not to mention he is a completely diferent kind of player than roberto, starting from the phisique, carlos is way more faster mainly because of those powerhouse legs he has, chivu has less tecnique but compensates with beeing a better passer, plus he has more vision to go upfront but not like a wing but more like a libero or even a midfielder, dont know if i am explaning myself, if i were to compare him with a LB it would be more of a player in the mould of maldini. :)

about milito , damm i dont like him really, but its better than not getting nobody, and at least he has la liga experience, i just dont want anybody from the calcio either, if only milito could change his dirty playing ways it all would be alright.

its funny how most expected chivu in my thread, and here most expected milito, i think you and i were the only ones who wanted andrade lol.

that is great explanation of the way Chivu plays. He hasn't played LB even for the NT in a very long time but from what I can remember he always liked to run up and down the left flank and get involved in the midfield game and even score on occasion (will always remember this beaut against England (H))
