no actually you can see he got him on one leg first and then another, he was running full speed, which would cause you to fall after the fact.....but whatever

Paul: i can understand you being a little pissed off about Torres' straight red ... but surely you can see it wasn't a penalty ... Guti really made a meal of that one ... I'm not saying the defender gets the ball; I'm just saying the defender did not get Guti ... well, not the way Guti made it out to be ...

on that note, Robben has gone from bad to worse with his diving ... sad to see as a fan of the Oranje ...

anyway, the game looks to be a "physical" one ... lots of cards already ... another red coming is more likely than not ...

Meh, this game kind of sucks, as I have said time and time again we are a counterattacking team in the purest sense, and when a team stands up in front of us we look lost....point a case here. The red was not that much of an influence IMO because Murcia are not here to win the game, they just dont want to give up goals....anyway someone needs to come up with an individuality or im afraid its going to be another LONG day....

no the red was justified actually torres went thru the guys ankle, a red anyday, but the penalty I still insist was a penalty, would have been given by 90% of refeere's btw, Iturralde was harhsly critisized mid-week by the Murcia guys for being too partial to the big team so he's got something to prove already.....He's one of the worst in Spain anyway, woouldnt be surprised if he makes more mistakes one way or another

Maybe Robben left us to showcase his diving skills in Spain!! :D

Actually Paul, on seeing a few more replays, it looks like he tapped his right leg, but didn't touch the left, but Guti threw himself down.

I agree that most refs would fall for it, but Iturralde didn't, which isn't a bad thing. Guti had made it through. Had he not decided to go down (and after seeing several angles, I have no doubt that he did decide to fall), he probably would have had a great chance to score.

Weird game but it is kind of what I expected, Murcia wasnt much of a threat at all IMO, and we were just bland....did just enough to get the goal and pack it in. So in continuance with the theme of La Liga, we played ok to poor and walked away with a win. For my money the results matter more than the play at this point of the season, so i am happy.

Hala Madrid!

just watching the post-match interviews on Real Madrid TV ... apparently Drenthe had predicted that Sneijder would score, so that explains Wesley pointing to him during the goal celebration ... Robben mentions that the next 6 games are 6 finals ... but I think that's just the usual fluff players give ... barring the most bizarre sequence of results, the title race will be over before we meet in Madrid ...

Awful ref...for both teams. He missed two penalties. The one on Guti was an actual penalty. GolTV showed it from different angles...and the other one on the Murcia player. The one on Guti wasn't as clear to be fair. I hate to speak of favoritism....instead I think La Liga has poor quality refs, period.

Even though he was dominant at the club level(at the time), the price tag came from the fact that it was €76 million on a World Cup and EURO winner when he is much older than a player who's best chance of winning an international trophy of significance has gone. If it wasn't for that, he wouldn't have been quite so expensive.

While that is true C. Ronaldo is doing **** as a winger that is just amazing and if he can keep it up year after year than he would most likely be worth an outragous fee. I think Zidane would have been expenisve as all hell no matter what because he was always an exceptional player. I am not saying that we should offer 120 or so million euros but I could see it at around Zidane's fee.

agreed.

On a side note, I'm quite surprised that you guys didn't snap up Ronaldinho. I thought for sure this was going to be Luis Figo #2.

Not really, actually not at all. Figo was loved by the Barca fans, said he wanted to stay and all that good stuff, was still a good player unlike Dinho who has become a fat lazy more or less useless player that is way too much of a dramaqueen to even deal with. Barca fans would just be glad to get rid of him.

I doubt that although it would be nice if we won right before el clasico...would make for a great wallpaper seeing your team clap us on the field. :D

Anyway I did not watch the Mallorca game but it's just one step closer to our first back to back liga title's since 18 years:O

C.Ronaldo would be a great addition to Real Madrid. Like you said he doing amazing stuff as a winger and has a great scoring record this year. I agree with you that 120 millions would be too much but if they bring him to Real Madrid it would be in a fee like the one with Zidane.
