I'm guessing most of you know about Rio's 8 month ban - presuming his appeal is unsuccessful.
Well I was wondering. If Rio is still banned by the time EA do the fifa '05 rosters, will he be in it?
Will he be in the Man U Team? Will he be in the England team?
What do you think guys?

good question man
i think they are being a little bit severe with rio
but anyways i think he should be included because hes a great player
but i dont think he should be banned for 8 months

Yeah - 8 months is harsh.
People who have been actually caught drug taking have been banned for less.
In my opinion, Rio will be in the Man U team (but not starting), but not in England. Shame. He's Great. Started out at Upton Park too;) I've had the fortune to see him live:D

Rio will prolly not be in the FIFA 2005. Great players are no exception. Just look for Frank De Boer in FIFA 2003 and 2004. EA went so far as excluding his brother from the games.

Is Rio's brother Anton (at least i think they're brothers) in the game?? he plays for West Ham

no, he was banned for missing a drugs test. that isn't the same as getting banned for taking drugs!! the FA are a disgrace...

It really is unfair on Rio. He hasnt been proved to have taken drugs, and he isnt the type of guy to take drugs. He has one of the best disciplinary records in the world and Im sure he probably donates to charity, but yet he gets punished more than Edgar Davids and Jaap Stam who both tested positive.
I think he will be included in fifa 2005 because he will still be in the squad, but obviosly cant play at the start.

It's a pity Ben Johnson (Canada) didn't think of doing that back in the 1988 Olympics! People would say: "He'd never take drugs, it's so unfair!"...
There must be more to this saga...

he did do a test, and it was negative. apparently his excuses weren't good enough for the FA, whatever they were.
personally, i think he's just been used as a scapegoat - made an example of as it were, in order to scare other would-be drug offenders. thing is though, the FA are potentially doing themselves harm, as this means he will miss the Euro championships, depriving england of one of their best players...

He missed the test due to "moving house" but he took the test the next day and passed, cant understand it really, if the appeal fails Englands chances for Euro 2004 will take a blow but feel a bit sorry for the guy even if he does play for Man U.

if fifa do another career mode, he should be banned untill whatever date it is he is unbanned in real life, and once you have reached that date in one career, he is available in tournaments and friendlys

i think rio most probably won't in FIFA2005, just like Ronaldo in FIFA2002, he replace by a fellow named Silva in Inter Milan
