Router Causes Disconnections In Online Matches

Hi there!

The following:

My router got broken so I was forced to take another one. Luckily I bought one some time ago. Everything works fine except for FIFA.

I get disconnected whenever I enter an online match.

Usually it happens right in the beginning even before a kick off can be taken. But sometimes I can play the first few minutes till I get disconnected.

Actually I'm still connected to the internet so I have the feeling that in fact it's FIFA disconnecting me. I guess because my router does something FIFA doesn't like.

I already disabled the router's firewall hadn't any effect.
Other Computer with another OS = same problem.
Older FIFA versions = Same problem.

The router I use: Belkin N300 WIRELESS HOME NETWORK ROUTER

PS: I'm connected via LAN cable not wirelessly.

Anyone who can help me?

Hello, this sounds like a problem with your router and fifa 16 compatibility.
Anyway you can fix yourself, or try out.
You have to enable the portforwarding for all fifa 16 udp and tcp ports (high quality routers will do the trick in automatic).
I don't know you router type and firmware, check the official web site, I want to help you. Close all background programs.
1 - Assign a fixed IP to your lan card (the fifa 16 pc you want to play online).
2 - Open any browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or others)
In the address bar, enter "192.168.2.1" (normally is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) and press [Enter] on your keyboard. You will then be directed to the router's web-based setup page. Read info in your downstairs router, check out, normally is here, address and login infos. Probably the defaults, or google search.
3 - Login into the router with admin name and password
4 - Under the Firewall section, click Virtual Servers (port forwarding router section)
5 - Click the Enable box and enter the following information for fifa 16 full online mode:
UDP all of these ports:
3659
9565
9570
9000 - 9999

TCP all of these ports:
3569
9946
9988
10000 - 20000
42124

you must add the 9 lines above, 1 line for any port number, type, or range.
Probably the game works perfectly if you port forward only the udp 3659 and tcp 3659, but I suggest to port forward all ports to avoid online issue.
Port forward all lines to your pc IP address you have assigned before (manual on lan card) in the Private IP address field
Here you can see the setup for the xbox like this:

Click to
to save the settings.
Reboot the router. Do you use a firewall protection in your pc? Delete all previous exceptions added previously, like the fifa16.exe on panel control of your firewall. Start Origin (disable origin in game form origin options for best performances if you want), Start the game, re-assign if asked to allow internet connection for your exe in the firewall.
But I repeat again, a modern router with new amazing firmware never block your fifa 16 online experience, now I'm using a powerful asus router and works perfectly with fifa16. However in my experience sometimes I happened to do this port forwarding with old gen routers.
I hope it help! Let me know! Bye

Thank you for your real extensive reply.

That UDP and TCP thing was the first I tried. Didn't help at all.

I also got the idea that it must have something to do with the IP address, or at least that was my guess.
In the end I fixed it by changing my connection type from dynamic to static. Seems I just made that wrong, when I configured that router the first time.

So thanks again. That was really a useful answer.
