Roy Keane Leaves Man Utd [R]

Keane was a great player... a few years back. His departure from Manchester United would mean that they are not carrying him anymore, there is now more room to attack. I hope Alan Smith can have the same impact in centre midfield that Keane had.

For the 1000000000000th times, Smithy is not a midfielder and never will be . . .

Keano is a legend and doesn't deserve this kind of ****. I know, he has passed his times of greatness, but can't they wait until the second transfer window to release him ? Yet, they disrespect him with something called "mutual agreement" in the mid of the season. For 12 ****in' blood sweating years this guy has broke his ligament, foot and motivating the team for United and they release him without any ceremony whatsoever, just because he hacked at some overpaid and underdoers in the team. The only thing the team can do for their great captain is to win something this season, for Keano. Cos' no matter who wears that captain armband this season, Keano will always be the captain in the heart of the fans.

It's ironic to see some of the people who used to bash him as a thug now are all eager and waiting for our captain's service . . .

That's the only person who I think would be best suited for captaincy. Or might VDS might be good because he captains the Netherlands at Internation level.

Rooney has a similar fire to the one that Keano had in his engine, and is the driving force (and future) of the club. I think he should get the armband. If not, then Neville.

as it stands - i don't see anyone at Utd who can take over the captaincy - we have fallen down the hill!
I think either Gary or Rio should get the armband. Rio was captain at both West Ham and Leeds, and he's been captain for England also, hasn't he?? But Gary is probably the best alternative, I would think.

Rio is an inconsistent overpaid pussy . . .

But then, yeah, Gary headbutted McManaman, gotta love that :rockman:

Yeah, but if Sir Alex can get him to focus on football (and only football) he'll hopefully get back to his consistent best-defender-in-the-world form, and he'd be an excellent captain.

Help?

heh, that is if Sir Alex can get himself to focus only on football as well. Right now i think his horse is pretty important as well. Ruud must be getting jealous.

it'll obviously be gary neville, but he is not the same brand as Keano - Rio wouldn't be bad at all, but I'd be happy with Neville.

I hoped that RVN will become captain but Neville is really good choice .

Surely better than Ferdinand... :rockman:

Ferguson has said that he won't be chasing Michael Ballack. Shame really, because I think Ballack would have made a great captain.

As for the current crop, Gary Neville's too quiet off the pitch, Rio Ferdinand's too inconsistent on the pitch, and Ruud van Nistelrooy may not want the burden of being the main source of goals and having the armband on a permanent basis. I think RVN's doing a pretty good job so far, but let's rotate the captaincy a bit, just to see who would be the best.
