Running in the morning (Fitness)

newbie original

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long
Yellow Card
During the summer of 2005 ( I call it the summer of Istanbul) my cousin tried it and lost a boatload of weight. Apparently he started off throwing up a bit after the first run and was dizzy and whatnot. He convinced me to join (I believe my first day running was when Glazer's announcement was made official) and I simply couldn't run a block without running out of breath. I ran 2.5 blocks that day in May and then walked the remaining 1.5 blocks (to complete the square) back home. What a mess....after around half a block from the starting point, I had to reduce my strides to ALMOT walking pace, while he was comfortably ahead of me and showing no signs of fatigue. He said you need to get through those tough early days to be able to keep coming back....I couldn't...I just ran about 5 days over the next 4 months of the summer. Now, even though he's around 5" shorter than me, he can beat me at any distance....even 100m.

I think I;'ve got too much "water-weight"....don't really know where the hell it came from though, but whatever, now I bike whenever I'm not too lazy to do so.

EDIT: I can't do more than 3 push-ups. I know that is really sad.

There's no such thing as "water weight", you are probably referring to fat from almost totally atrophied muscle.

I'm incredibly unfit, can't run for ****. Due to working 6 days a week in a big warehouse i've lost aout a stone in the last couple of months, but i still weight 13stone+. To be honest, i do enough active work lugging stuff around a warehouse at work all day (until i'm off to Uni) to keep me happy.

yea that too, that's just an excuse to eat too much (H) Everytime i'm hungry i'm like "errr my blood sugar level is low...." :D

Cycling works best for me. I did an hour of cardio every day for a week last semester and i went from 160 lbs to 155. I also stopped snacking and my last meal of the day was around 8pm.

Not at all a fan of long distance running. Much rather do some anaerobic work like punching a boxing bag for rounds or sprinting work. Helps keep the BF off and keeps my lungs and heart in great shape.

Using a heavy bag is one of the best aerobic exercises there is, but you gotta do it for 20 minutes straight. It will help burn fat, and also increase the muscle tissue in your chest and arms. Try to turn your anaerobic exercise into a 20 minute aerobic routine.

How exactly do you do something anaerobically? Doesn't that mean without oxygen? Therefore causing your muscle cells to release lactic acid which is not good for you?

yeah basically quick bursts where energy is needed. for example sprinting or something like that. when the activity is spread over a prolonged activity and usually less intense is when the aerobic comes into place.

I'd say definitely start running. It's a good way to wake up in the morning. Also, one thing no one has mentioned yet is to get/make a runner's log. Doesn't have to be much, but keep track of how far you went, how fast, how you felt, etc each day. You can put as much detail in it as you want. Then you can look back and say "wow! look how much I've improved" and figure out when to buy new shoes (every 300 miles or so, you're supposed to get new ones).

It's not literal, and the term is probably not the best to use. Not-aerobic would have been better I guess.

Still weird, since aerobic means that oxygen is present... so if something is not aerobic, it's not good for you. But I understand what the activity is. So, nevermind.

Underage sex is very good exercise as they tend to be full of energy and are hard to keep up with

Bring on the yellow card (H)

By the way as the worlds most unfit man I have nothing productive to add to this conversation

(First things first, i'm just gonna delete stupid posts because i can't be arsed with them in every single thread, this is a question which might lead to discussion, not jokes. Oh yeah, try a paedo joke and i'll yellow card you here and now, you have been warned.)

Anyway, i'm just wondering if any of you guys run in the morning to stay fit or get fit? My bro did it a few times... then stopped, but it seems like a pretty good idea. Anyone know much about it? Likkee, how long i could run for, how early is early and how early is too early? :D

Oh, and will it get me fitter, cos at the minute i'm not exactly at peak condition. All thoughts welcome.
"How early is too early?"
Paedo.

I tried it once. Woke up at 6 every morning for a week, went for a run. It was pretty fun, but it sucks up your energy completely, so I stopped. I liked running at 6 am, though, perfect weather, it was pretty nice, but this is Spain, and it might be too cold to do that in England.

I think night-time runs are the best. It's not too hot, and if you have the time for it, it's perfect. You run, you shower, do your nighttime business and go to sleep. My dad and bro used to do it to get in shape, but they stopped having the time for it.

In my honest opinion though, best way to get in shape would be swimming/cycling, and more entertaining, IMO. You'll get bored very quickly if you run alone, so get someone to run with you, because even running with music is a bore.

EDIT: Give running in the morning a try, but I think you'll find yourself waking up and just going back to sleep.
I have no recollection of ever running at 6 am so either I blocked it out or I totally made it up. I think that was the phase when the rep just came out and guys like Tom would plusrep people if they stayed on topic and gave a proper response.
