Save My Career ! - A new tool from Rinaldo

You know that using tools like CM08 that modify the fifa.db file you have the problem that you cannot continue a career previously saved with a different database.
In many cases it is possible to recover your old career file and make it compatible with your new modified database. Unfortunately this process does not work everytime (it depends from what is changed betwen the old and the new database) but, in many cases, this tool will really "Save your career".

This tool was possible thanks to the great job of Steve Pitts that has discovered how to compute the crc of the career files.

I've given this process a fair bit of thought and I've always felt that you needed both the original FIFA.DB and the new one to make it work properly under all circumstances. If you'd like to pool knowledge on the possible problems and potential fixes then I'd be happy to do so.

so what is the extent of changes to the db that become compatible with the career... if i change teams could i add a new stadium, gk kits and third kits for my new team?

Difficult to say, I think that the most dangerous thing is to change the tournaments, for all the rest you should try. All what you have mentioned should potentially work. A good strategy is to back-up your old fifa.db, make your changes to the db and to see if SMC is able to upgrade your career to the new db.

I have designed this tool thinking to the case of somebody that has lost his old fifa.db (as you can understand from the name of the tool itself) I think that you are right saying that a more accurate upgrade of the career would be possible having both the old and the new databases. I am available to work together on this idea and I will be pleased to let you the development of this new tool as part of the EAFFanalyzer.

EDIT: never mind, it modifies your career file. It even makes a backup file of your career. And it unfortunaly didn't work with my career, but thanks for the program.

Could this work with Fifa07 also or does it automaticaly look for Fifa08 career path files?

What I mean is, is it possible to specify the path of the files in a box like in File Master tool or not?

Yes, honestly I didn't test it for FIFA 07, but the tool is quite general.

Thanks, I'll probably test it in the near future on some career files I have in Fifa07 and let you know if it works.

I just tried it and it works. I added a GK kit, adjusted a player's jersey name and changed another players body shape. When I went into my game after using the doctor I could continue my career with the changes, even my edited squads worked until I tried to edit Liverpool which I had edited Torres jersey, the game didn't crash but nothing for the team loaded (not that it bothered me) I thought I'd let Rinaldo know though.

Great tool.

one thing that hasnt worked for me is i edit a players appearance and add a few other things (gk kits) in creation master, run the save my career and it backs up fine

i go in game, the gk kits have been added fine, everything is great however the appearance of the player hasnt changed in my manager mode career, but if i just edit the player from the main menu it shows the changed appearance
