I've been looking around at this format and I've gotten enough of the .SBR file (the soundbank) figured out to extract streams from the .SBS file (the streams). The only problem is there are no headers on the streams other than eight bytes, but I cannot figure out what they stand for.

An XML file left lying around on the disk says that the streams are 32000 Hz, using a variable bitrate quality of 80, and the compression type is "xas_int".

Here's some sample streams I've extracted: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/63085882/test_files.zip

And here's my work on the .SBR file so far: https://github.com/ToadKing/sbs_extractor

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi , I have news.

Rinaldo says :

I guess I need the help of some expert in audio coding. I have been able to understand the structure of .sbr files, they are just a kind of descriptor for locating the actual sounds that are in the .sbs file (e.g. ita_it.sbs) It is also possible to recognize in .sbs some chunks of data starting with a 2 bytes chunk descriptor followed by the size of the chunk in 2 bytes. I found 3 type of chunks:
data starting with 0x48 0x00 describe the sampling rate and other parameters and it is always the first chunk of each sound.
data starting with 0x45 0x00 are just the sound terminator.
data starting with 0x44 0x00 are the actual audio data but they are compressed in a form I cannot figure out.

Opening a .sbs file with an hex editor I think you can easily recognize the chunk identifiers. The question is: which is the format used by 0x44 0x00 chunks to encode audio data ?

Yeah man, I saw this program before and I came across a dos script someone wrote to encode new audio but it was for another game and I didn't have time to mess with it because I was running out of time on the project I was working on. Send him an email and see what he says, I would like to know how to edit the audio files as well.

I found a tool, that gets to convert SBS for XMA, and soon after for WAV, but the problem that the Audio is totally Criptado, if somebody descriptar will be easy you edit, catches the link of the Tool to I Lower:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/6l197bpa60712tm/WCConvert.rar
stay informed of innovations, oh to I lower a tutorial of as you use:

1st Open quickbms
2 Select the file addXMARIFFheader
3 Select the file. SBS
4 Select the folder where you want to save the aquivo XMA
5 Open the file with the XMA towav
6 Ready it is already in WAV
