Barca's midfield is not "defensive" or "solid". They don't run that kind of a system, so it is not as important; their defense is more about positioning and gegenpressing after losing the ball.

KDB and ADM's positioning are poor.

KdB showed he can defend at Bremen. He has not been asked to do that since but that doesn't mean that he can't. Iniesta is not a better defender than either he or Di Maria. Not that it matters because KdB is the most attacking midfielder in a 3 so won't be expected to do much anyway. A top holder like De Rossi and a workhorse shuttler like Di Maria is more than enough. It is more defensive than the Barca midfield. Besides the fact that Suarez works hard defensively and Willian is one of the best wingers defensively.

He "can defend" doesn't mean he is good at it. He is weak at defending. Your midfield is very unbalanced.

I didn't realise voting closes so early tomorrow morning, I wanted to write detailed explanations of my votes but I only have my phone and am going into theatre soon so forgive my lack of elaboration. There are things I like and things I dislike about all the teams in this group. I voted yoyo and Mandieta6 - I think Yoyo has some very good players and got good value with his picks, it's established players in a traditional formation but it has quality. I do have concerns over the defence - howedes in particular I feel really struggled to really break through at any point in his now waning career. He has Neuer, however, and I like the pairing of pogba and matuidi which should be tough as nails. Oscar still has some question marks but if he's the weakest attacking player on the team, that's not bad.

Other vote was harder. I went with Mandieta6 because honestly, I like his team and I think that they would hold possession so well that their frailties may be neutralised. Ivanovic in CB is a poor choice considering what was available, but I rate Lloris, and some of the other attacks in this team would not seem to have the pace in attack to exploit his weaknesses. I like Dytza team but it is a bit patchwork, players in there capable of individual brilliance but lacks overall cohesion. Xaviesta team also has a good core, but I am just not sure about Ribery and Benzema and also not sure how these players could optimise on the brilliant Iniesta supply. Your defence is underrated, Smalling is actually now very good and oblak is a quality keeper, needless to mention your excellent full backs, but I am not quite sure it's enough to win my vote in a tight group. Az becuse of Dytza's vote to himself( has the lowest posts). But Dytza's gets on because he has more votes than group B's 3rd choice. He'll be a low seed though.

I don't remember if it was lowest post count or non-participants first. Would require some digging, but the issue has come up in the past.
