STOP

I know it's tempting to just see Messi name on the team sheet and vote nady without reading anything else. I know. But all I ask is that before you do it, you just stop and think for one moment. Yes, Messi is great. But does the team with Messi in it ALWAYS win? No.

Last season Messi team was knocked out of the champions league by a defensive, aggressive, well organised atletico team with a lethal counter. My team is a defensive, aggressive will organised team who are even more lethal on the counter. Argentina, led by Messi, lost the Copa final when surrounded by a disjointed team of players who are below the standard of those he usually plays with, some of them out of position - exactly the same as nady's team. Remember 2012 - a Chelsea team vastly inferior to mine knocked Barca out, with Messi, because they were organised and passionate.

Nady has big defensive question marks. His goalkeeper choice was the worst in the contest, and otamendi was shocking last season in his first real test. Danilo couldn't live up to his hype either. Firmino is still very inconstant and matic/pjanic hardly provides the superb delivery that Messi thrives on. They may be tough but they can't outmuscle my boys.

My team would suck them in and stifle them, then expose their defensive frailties on the break. Shock and awe. Yes we will be tough, but if we concede a penalty Messi will miss it. If Kompany gets injured, Zouma is waiting on the bench, young strong and hungry. My bench provides copious tactical options, including going four at the back, and Wingers. I have everything needed to beat nady's team. My team is better man for man than those which beat Messi teams recently, nady's team is worse man for man than the teams on which Messi played. And, crucially, the tightness of my structure and organisation is obvious to all.

Now, take a breath, study the teams, think, and make a reasoned vote. Thankyou.

I find it hilarious that the one thing Nady can criticise about my team is the fact I have one player who is coming back from long term injury in my team when he has one player (Shaw) who has just come back from longer term injury (and started fewer games last season) on his team.

Nady obviously didn't watch a single city game last season or else he would know that when my defender Kompany started they were a million times better and more solid than when his defender otamendi started. Every time.

Unlike Shaw, Kompany started intermittently last season and was superb every time

Some stats from last season:

(Those games when Kompany didn't start and the team was much worse, the line was lead by nady's 'star man' otamendi

With Kompany Premier League 2015/16 Without Kompany
13 Games 16
8 Wins 7
3 Draws 3
2 Losses 6
61.54% Win % 43.75%
6 Goals conceded 25
194 Mins per goal conceded 65
9 Clean sheets 4

To be honest after Shaw got injured the whole thing went downhill for United last season. He's really influential, we really lacked a proper left-back last season.

I gotta say that Sir_Didier_Drogba is spot on here about Kompany. When he was playing City didn't concede much. Then he got injured and they started letting in goals like mushrooms grow after a heavy raining season/session whatever. They lacked a leader in defence without him, and Kompany is exactly that for City, on and off the pitch. PRobably the guy I respect the most from their squad, along with Marlos Moreno of course but he's not playing for them atm.

Who cares about last season? Kompany may not be at the same level again. Like Yaya Toure, he may be ditched by dictator Joe "Pop" G. Otamendi is looking good this season. Shaw has been one of the better players for Man U this season.

I agree with you Nady when we assess people's draft teams we should absolutely not take into account last season's performance maybe we should just vote for the team with the players who have the funniest names

You are deviating for the point. Do you expect your team to play in 2015? There are lots of uncertainties with Kompany. He's been in and out of the team. He may come back strong like before, he may not. Shaw on the other hand came back as strong as before. He's young too so his recovery would be easier.

I don't see that there are any uncertainties about Kompany - he has come back from long injuries before and always come back great. But I deliberately put another excellent CB on my bench, Zouma, so that if voters think there are question marks over Kompany fitness they can see that I have an excellent (and comparable) replacement to bring on.
