p.s. im getting addicted :(

and I have a poker question, why at the end only some of the people that have cards left show what they have? is it in order of the dealer or?

lol, don't worry H. everything will be fine. I don't know how private tournies work, but you would pay a low entry fee (in play money I suspect) and everyone starts with the same default number of chips: 1,500.

PS:

Oh yeah! :funny:

^ haha that's sweet..

man I wish I knew how to play poker, it's all anyone seems to talk about these days.

What's the best way to learn in you guy's opinion? Is there an easy step by step sorta thing on the net or anything like that?

EDIT: also is there a particular type that the most common or popular? I've noticed 'Texas Hold'em' seems to be everywhere.

Not even an entry fee in real or play money. It's absolutely free! The only thing rony and I need to work out is the fact that Full Tilt asks that somebody pays $25 from his account to put in the prizepool. Normally that person should get that money back after the tourny. Don't worry about that though as it won't affect you guys.

btw That logo is so sexy!

The player who is first to act on the River has to show his hand first. Afterwards the other players in the hand have the option to show their cards or not to show them (muck) if they lost the hand.

Holdem is the one sweeping the world at the minute yes. I learned how to play last summer.

It would probably take you less than 20 minutes to understand the basic rules. Best way to assimilate how things works after that is to start playing really. Plenty of sites have play-money tables or even "Poker trainer" tables (at PartyPoker for example).

Short update:
Rony is willing to pay the $25 (round of applause please) but he's in the middle of his exams. Two things can happen now: he mails them today or he (like it should be) turns his attention to his exams before mailing, in which case we might postpone the tournament for a week.

Luis: it'll take you about half an hour to learn the basic rules, but a lifetime to learn all the other aspects involved (reading players, bluffing, check-raising, etc.)

and Taj, my last midterm is tomorrow afternoon, but like I said in the PM, go ahead and give them the info if all they need is my username. if they need more info, like e-mail, account information and everything, just let me know and I'll email them Wednesday afternoon :)

Info mailed, now they asked for your email adress (instead of asking this immediately, they need 4 mails to tell me that...). I've mailed them that you'll send them your email adress (just tell them your account name and tell them it's for the SG World Poker Tournament). That should - finally - do the trick...

Yeah I read up on the rules and have been playing some practice games online...really getting the hang of the basics, there's still a bit I need to familiarize myself with though. I should be ready by the 2nd SG tournament, assuming there'll be one.

You should play in this one, even if you get killed, it will be the best way to learn.

^ I was just going to say that Zloj. Seeing as there isn't any money involved...

That's what I was thinking too, if things go smoothly for the organisers then it could become an every two months thing... or once a month even. We'll see.
