WTF? Dytza has Koscielny and Jagielka? Why? They're both similar types of players, it makes much more sense to get a strong CB to play alongside Kosci.

alright, I got myself a legendary super-sub!

everyone knows what Zanetti can do dispite his age, even goalkeepers fear for their spot on the team when he's around (H)

he was sharing the attacking limelight with Iaquinta, who was leading the line ... iirc, they both got 4 UCL goals that season ... one went to Germany to get a winners' medal, one didn't ...

If I may, just because his name has now already been tipped... Iaquinta is absolute dog****. Here's a player that I could see had absolutely no ability whatsoever from the first time I saw him, and yet there he was again and again on big stages. People rag on Gomez for having no technical ability? He's ******* Maradona by comparison, and at least he scores! It took some people like 5 or 6 years to realize that he was god awful. I am not being harsh at all, Iaquinta has never even played a game I would rate a 4 or above anytime that I've seen him play, at any level for club or country. Dude is the absolute definition of a bum, and yet he just kept failing upwards because of incompetence from ****ty managers and front offices. Yes I consider Lippi incompetent.

Giggsyyyyyy (H)

I know some of you might have doubts about my left-side (although with Schmelzer only someone who didn't follow the Bundesliga could argue), but this catch as my 12th pick should seal it (H) I know, I know, "he's old". **** that, he's Ryan ******* Giggs.

You're going to play him on the left? Jesus Christ, now I'm certain your left side is horrible. Terrible pick IMO.

This. Iaquinta is pretty poor.

Not this. Are you serious? Last year Giggs was probably one of the most influencial United players, either as a starter or coming off the bench. At his age he hasn't got the speed he once had (nor is he slow, for that matter), but the calm and vision he brings everytime he steps on the field is not comparable to many in the world. The fact that I could see him coming in for Johnson doesn't mean - as I've mentioned - he would be an all out left-winger, it means he would get on that midfield with Wilshere and Claudio supporting the three more attacking players and yes, in that case, he would fall on the lefter side of the midfield. Picking the most trophy-winning player of all time is certainly not a terrible pick, man.

He's not that good, there are way better people for his position(s).

That's just your opinion, if you ask me I think he's pretty good if not great.. and I've seen him in lots of games. He's a beast and was one of Milan's best players in the past year. And for the 12th round he's a steal.

Of course it's my opinion! And I didn't say he was awful, he's just not as good as other people who have been chosen in his position and thus I don't reckon that he was picked to late...

hah "tipped" ... man, I agree that Iaquinta is absolute crap and didn't think anyone was crazy enough to pick him in 2011 -- which is why I had no hesitation mentioning his name (it's better for the competitiveness of the league anyway) ...

needless to say (Champions League winner and) World Cup winner Lippi wasn't incompetent in 2006 ... you're just biased against, and thus pissed at, Italy winning the World Cup in your beloved Germany after beating them in an epic semifinal ...

Lippi took a bunch of forwards to avail himself of some real variety in attacking options ... Iaquinta went coz he offered more pace than other Italian forwards ... they each chipped in with a timely goal, so Lippi was totally vindicated ... Di Natale didn't show anything during that season that Lippi didn't already have a better version of at his disposal to take to Germany 2006 ...

for the record, Lippi did go senile for his second stint, but his first was fine ...

I think Lippi had a perfect storm in 2006. Italian team out with a huge chip on their shoulder with something to prove after Calciopoli, a generation that seemed to hit their apex RIGHT at that moment in 2006 (guys like Buffon, sadly, and Cannavaro, obviously, but also Camoranesi, Grosso, Perotta, Pirlo, Gattuso, and Materazzi). He must have done a few things right, certainly, but I'm not sure he did much more than what most people could have done.

Also they should have gone out to Australia.

And no, I didn't like that they beat Germany, but in hindsight I really have no problem with that German team finishing third. Looking at some of the players and of course the horrible manager, even on home soil that was some serious over achieving. And I absolutely despise Zidane, so again in hindsight I'm not nearly as upset as I was in 2006.
