So here's how the league finishes. We collapsed just a little bit at the end and let Dortmund take the Champions League spot from us.

But we had an excuse as our players were tired on weekends after all the Thursday Games. The Semis were against Sevilla.

Which brings us to the Final against a team vastly superior to us.

It's also of note that this is actually a home game for us as our very own Borussia Park is hosting the final!

The lineups:

Bit of a quality differential there, although not the toughest midfield for the English.

YEAH!!!!

Finally, end of the year stats:

Some really great surprises this year. Verratti is already ready and certainly fills that "next Pirlo" hype. Ljalic was well worth the 7m Euros and new club record transfer and the perfect foil opposite Reus. Also, Jong Tae-Se!!

Bad? Nordveit could be playing better, and if I'm going to stick with this 4-3-3 I could probably use a pure destroyer in to replace him. Friedrich is also clearly in decline now, but his Euro League winning goal gives him another year in my book.

WOW!!

Tough spot here, I've got to improve the squad on a budget. Can't pay over 24+ months because the club isn't rich. Have 12m (probably a few more putting wages to transfer fee), but can't afford expensive mistakes, so I'm having to scout my ass off.

Alright, so I thought I did a pretty good job in this window of bringing in young players with room to develop on the relative cheap. First two were sitting on the bench at Chelsea and Man City respectively.

Savic, in particular, I think could be a mega star. And then I thought that after Jali we really lacked an all around box-to-box type, which is a problem if a team ever comes in with a big bid for him, or he gets injured. I found the solution in a young kid from the Mexican league.

Last significant transfer of the summer, 17 year old Romanian who starred at the European U-21 Championships

Here is how we go into the season; not really any changes from last year aside from Bertrand and Savic.

Also, forgot to mention that Yaya Sonogo is in on loan from City to be the #2 striker. Next summer I think we'll have to move Jong Tae-Se to a lesser role, but we're still going with him this season.

Good work. Bertrand's great, he's been my back-up LB in my first season and he's been quite good, should do the job.

90th Minute, I'm ahead 1-0 over Dusseldorf in the 3rd Round of the German Cup playing a C team. My 16 year old defender slides in the box, wins the ball, and puts it past his own keeper for an own goal and 1-1. Except that on the slide, the attacker took a dive and the ref stops play for the dive, gives the attacker a yellow card, and awards me a free kick. HAHAHA!

Just the fact that it's Gladbach, and I'm already challenging for a title and have won the UEFA Cup already without any major signings.

No shouts. Starting strategy is mostly standard with counter for tough games mostly on the road. Control only for home games when I'm clearly better, but tours more frequent this year.

Going into the final game we led Dortmund by 2 points all alone at the top of the table. A win and we secure our first title since 1977. A loss or draw, and almost certainly the bumblebees would help us do a Meister der Herzen.

Adem Ljalic, however, would not be denied.

Dortmund lost anyway, so it really didn't matter, but Ljalic's 2nd goal HAS to be goal of the season anyway. And wow, horrible video quality, and the 2nd highlight got cut short too.

Our work was not done though as we faced Schalke a week later in a rematch for the DFB Pokal. We were knocked out of the Europa League by Spurs pretty legitimately although we did have some injuries I suppose.

WOW!! Amazing cup win including goals from Igor de Carmago who is playing his final season of his contract and has no chance of getting another one, and Arne Friedrich, playing the final season of his career as he announced his decision to retire earlier in the season. Friedrich wins the Bundesliga for the first time in his distinguished career of 390 league appearences and 82 caps for the Nationalmannschaft.

End of the year stats. Player of the year is pretty clear:

We have also raised our profile across Europe, as a few top notch strikers (a major position of need) are now interested in making the move to the Rhein-Ruhr.

Busy transfer season kicks off as we need to add much needed depth to the squad to make an immediate impact in the Champions League

First is Geis, who looks to have the potential to overtake Nyom as our first choice RB when Nyom's contract expires.

Next we have the product of a 20/20 Brazilian scouting South America. Adrian Gil has the potential to be another Redondo. 4.5 star potential (and I have great CMs right now). Signed for a pittance. Probably play this year in the Reserves just because. A little too slight.

Next is another 20 year old, this time Emre Can who starts the game at Bayern. Emre went spent 3 uneventful years in the Manchester United reserves before orchestrating this move home. Unspectacular, but good depth for sure and room to grow.

Finally, we lose both Dante and Friedrich this summer, so that leaves Savic as our only competent defender. The next two guys are really top quality defenders who could push Savic out of the lineup.

These signings were all bought with last year's transfer funds since I had quite a bit left and figured I wouldn't get much more than the usual 10m this summer (I was right). Still working on the striker; has to be a star...

P.S. Jovetic is no longer interested. Missed about a 2 day window.

Finding a striker has not been easy. We started with Jovetic as our main target, but he very soon became uninterested. Next my focus shifted to semi-FM legend Vaclav Kadlec, but unfortunately I don't think he's good enough yet, and I need a striker that can take defenses on by himself in the Champions League. In the midst of this, the World Cup was going on and my best scout (Brazilian, so perfect for this World Cup) spotted a Mexican kid named Erick Torres

Would have been perfect, but Liverpool already had an accepted bid when I learned of him. We acted fast and got to the negotiating table with him, but I was a bit naive and drove a bit of a hard bargain. The terms we offered were acceptable to him, but evidently not as good as Liverpool's. He ended up winning the Best Young Player Award at the World Cup. If ever there was a time to reload, this was probably the time. "El Cubo" would not be coming.

At this point I had my scouts criscrossing the world scouting any striker I hadn't heard of, and also many I have. The next idea was to try and sign Mario Balotelli who is transfer listed. He spent last season on loan at Marseilles helping them get to the Champions League Final. We had an offer accepted, but Balotelli had obscene contract demands and would not even listen to our offer of ~75k/week, which incidentally would have completely shattered our wage scale.

We were getting desperate now, but I still didn't want to sign someone who would be a let down. This player had to be the perfect signing, especially since we would almost certainly be smashing our club record fee of 7m paid 18 months ago for Ljalic.

In the end it came down to two players: The first, 6'8'' Ivorian Lucina Traore. Big, strong, fast, and a good finisher. Very little wrong with his game.

The other, a tiny little Scot who doesn't even have striker listed as a natural position. However, technically and mentally he is a superior player, and also is more than competent as a striker. Wouldn't get to many headers, but is fast and deft, and would really up the style.

Traore's inability to play his teammates into the game was considered decisive (also he's not as good of a dribbler and not as composed). John Fleck would be the new focal point of the Gladbach attack. He would be playing a position he hasn't played for several years.

Cubo is supposed to be the next Chicharo, but I think he's vastly overrated.

Anyway, if FM is very accurate, they'd have him as a pretty selfish striker that takes all the shots and rarely passes the ball. You didn't lose much not signing him imo.

ShiftyPowers

Make America Great Again
I think his nickname is awesome though, and he's lightning fast. But I think in the end Fleck is probably a better player.

Here's the 14/15 team. Lodeiro is injured, but he and Verratti are in a constant competition for MRC. Otherwise, everyone else pretty much owns their position.
