Who said we are suprised?

From your previous comments it looks like it´s something new that there are tons of rumors and signings for Benfica in pre-season when it happen every year. Thats all:)

Of course the sports' press wants to sell as much newspapers as they can and therefore they use our brand - Benfica - to do so. That's not surprising, is it? It's always been like that, whether we win titles or not.

However, and I'm pretty sure this is what Coruja meant, last year there weren't as much rumors as there are now... And we're still in June! And not just rumors, there's players already bought and many are returning from loans. And I'm not saying this a good thing, mind you.

This is kind of old news but I sincerely hope by now those rats were already kicked from the club.

Or else FC Porto won't need scouting at all, as we'll be doing it for them again...

On another topic what do you guys think about the new jerseys? The blue box is finally gone in the home shirt which looks good, but I don't like the away one.

I like the Home and Away one. Of course it should be white, but i kinda like the gold and black combination, and it fits well on the players. The propaganda arround that kit was nice too. Like i said the best option was white, but this isnt bad either.

Coentrao to Madrid for 30 million euros. Seems a bit excessive, but that is of no consequence to Madrid. How would you rate Coentrao?

It doesn't really take a Benfiquista to rate Coentrão, I thought you followed football more closely man!
I've heard a lot about him, but I haven't actually seen him play since the WC. Is he ready for the Madrid circus?

I don't think any player is ready for that circus, as you put it.:innocent_smile_1:

But yes, Coentrão became one of the best LB out there. Can also play as a winger and he was probably our best and most influential player last season, even more impressive considering he mostly played as a side back.

I'll be surprised if he doesn't succeed in Madrid, although he's under enormous pressure to do well considering all the transfer novel and hype... But he too is to blame for that, so..

I'll see if i create a new thread tomorrow for Benfica.

Its sad that no one from Sporting's here to do one as well since they were reborn from ashes lol (im pretty sure they'll be tough this season). Godinho Lopes, Carlos Freitas and Domingos know what they're doing.

I have my doubts about that. Domingos is a great coach and definitely an improvement over whoever was there before but it's hard to build a team just like that, it takes time.

While there were players clearly asking to be released (the likes of Maniche) I'm not sure bringing 20+ players in is such a good option. Also, the players being bought apart from Rodriguez and one or two more are of doubtful quality and need time to adjust.

With that said, it will be hard for them to do worse than last season.

Still, its an improvement (big one) from last season, now they seem to have some kind of organization. Yeah, its hard to build a champion team with 90% of new players on the same year, but we never know... The players they bought were good transfers, they have quality, so i dont really agree with that "doubtful". If you talk about their injury history... yes... very risky.

Overral, i hope to see some competition from them, since they're one of the "bigs" of Portugal.

And im kinda curious to see Braga in action with Jardim as manager.
