STAR WARS: EPISODE VII Cast Announced

Starting XI
Rumours aside I think that some of the choices here are somewhat bold, I hope in the long run it pays off.

The Star Wars team is thrilled to announce the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII.

Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.

Director J.J. Abrams says, “We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.

Star Wars with lens flare!

No but seriously, I've never been a mega Star Wars geek but I do like the movies very much, and JJ Abrams is a safe bet to make this new trilogy better than Episodes I, II and III, so I'm really looking forward to this.

But that's a good sign, I guess. No big name stars (aside from the original trilogy actors) with other baggage beside being good actors. Also I wonder if Andy Serkis will play a live action role or a CGIed one.

go watch it!
glad he got cast ahead of Jesse Plemmons (I'm not a fan) and the Eragon kid ... Boyega is to play the central Jedi character, which has so far always been a Skywalker; it'll be interesting to see what direction Abrams takes with that ...

more interesting, perhaps, is who/what mocap master Andy Serkis will play ...
