There's still a chance it might change but yeah, Schwarzer, Cole, Eto'o, Hilario and Lamps released. Gonna wait for better confirmation.

Really glad we didnt renew Eto'o. Honestly, I am happy about this house clearing, as much as I love our vintage spine, it needed to be done, and no-one other than Mourinho could do it.

But we need to talk about David Luiz. Looks like a done deal, for 40-50m pounds depending on which paper you read.

Honestly, I would have loved a deal involving Mandzukic, but I will take this. Great player, but given our current squad, the money is worth more to us than the player.

I am also getting cold feet about Diego Costa. This recurring injury makes me wonder if a) we are signing a player with a deteriorating fitness status and b) we are running the risk of once again introducing abig money striker who is not fully fit and damaging his confidence and fans love by starting him at the wrong time.

David Luiz confirmed. A moment of silence please.

This is really sad. I love David Luiz. He's a great player who could still become one of the best and he was of great need in two positions, both as a creative CB for a high line and partnering Matic. If Lampard isn't renewed that would mean that three of our legends (Lampard, Cole, Essien) and 3 of my favorite new-guard players (KDB, Mata and DL) all leave in the same season. That's rough. I think this might mean we renew Lamps. We can't lose our entire midfield as well as two of the most influential guys in the dressing room in one go. I feel bad for Oscar, that dressing room is gonna be so quiet next year.

That said, 48m is a lot of money. We needed to buy a new MC and this just makes that clearer. We'll have to evaluate the Mata and DL sales after the window is over. If we get Mandzukic, Pogba, Varane and Shaw I'll be happy with the result. Shaw is unlikely since he's too expensive. In terms of CB, we actually have a lot of talent so I wouldn't mind not getting one, but getting a CB or a LB (allowing Azpi back at RB and Bran at CB) wouldn't be the worst thing. Wolfsburg's Rodriguez would be a good buy.

In terms of midfield, papers say Mou has 3 guys in mind: Koke, Pogba and Paulinho. Scrapping Paulinho, I'd be happy with either, moreso with Pogba. Martinez or Kroos would make happy, too. Bender, Khedira, Gundo, Yaya would be fine (Bender is less talented, the next two have injury issues and the last would cost way too much money).

So, let's see what Chelsea does. Right now we need to add bodies to defense, get a striker and add 2 guys to our midfield.

Mourinho loves Varane and Varane got many games under him and very few under Ancelotti, however Real Madrid dont have to sell and may not want to sell. I would rather have him than Luiz, honestly, so if we could get him for 30m having sold Luiz for 50m I would consider that excellent business.

Raiding Bayern for Mandzukic and Martinez also seems very sensible. As good as Pogba would be I'm not sure I want to be the club that pays 40m for a free transfer player.

I am getting nervous about Costa and injuries. Honestly, given the quality of supply we have, Mandzukic, Lukaku and Ba would be a perfectly adequate strike force.

Unfortunately it is looking increasingly likely that United have won the battle for Shaw.

Costa just need to take his time off so he can properly recover. He has been trying to push it these last few weeks and it has backfired.

Having Shaw would have been great but he's way too expensive and doesn't represent an upgrade on Azpi. We have decent back-ups for now (PVA and Bertrand) and if we really wanted one, Ricardo Rodriguez is better than Shaw and cheaper.

I'm not sure I want Costa. Expensive and, as you say, seems to have injury issues. I'd prefer Mandzukic.

I read somewhere that Varane may be on Mou's List :(
I have never seen a player who hasn't flopped or aged want to leave Real Madrid ... and unless they've run out of patience with his injury niggles, Madrid selling a superstar would be unprecedented too ...
