[STORY] The Tyneside Revolution

As the new season rolled in, so did a new boss. Michael Kitchin (that's me, ya naw!) was chosen by the fat controller, Freddie Shepherd to replace Bobby Robson. Bobby decided to hang up his err... slippers for a lifetime of golf so the new boss's first job was simple:

Stay Clear of Relegation

Peice of cake but first we had a little stop off in Germany.

Inter-toto Madness
14th July 2001
St. James's Park

Newcastle 2-2 Werder Bremen
It took only 5 minutes for the first goal of the Kitchin era to be fired in. Shola Ameobi smashed in a low volley to put Newcastle ahead. Some Hungarian bloke name Lisztes netted in an equaliser after some slack work at the back. It was shortly after the break when Newcastle resumed the lead. Another unlike scorer got on the scoresheet. To be more precise, it was Jamie McClen. It was his first goal for the club. Things were looking pretty class until that Hungarian popped up again to give the visitors a good chance of going into the second round. Now we face a tough match in Germany.

You ain't see the worse:

Auf Wiedersehen, Pet

Inter-toto 3rd Round 2nd Leg
Bremen 3-1 Newcastle
Bogdanovic got an early goal that we never seemed to recover from. Hope did arrive though when Shola Ameobi netted his 2nd of the competition with 3 minutes left. It was looking a possibility that we could sneak a win but the Germans nabbed 2 injury time strikes to basically, crap on us from the highest height.

So we pick ourself up and dust ourselves off for the Premiership. Say hello to two new youngsters.

Joleon Lescott
A 19 year old centre back from Wolves. Basically a hot prospect that could join the ranks of Newcastle's defence ina couple of years. He's got a hell of a future with us.

Dean Shiels
A 16 year old lad from Northern Ireland. He just shown up at a training session pretending to be Shay Given. He gave us the slip so we kept him in for the hell of it. don't think he'll make much of an impact than Ameobi but you never know.

Cue the intensive training and the little tactic that could. I'm using Gazza's Birdfoot tactic. It's a real beaut!

Day One - Premiership
Leicester 0-1 Newcastle

We went down to Filbert Street expenting a tough game. It didn't disappoint. We launched everything at Mr Flowers but only a Nobby Solano stike could beat him. Huraah! Leicester were outplayed and we got the points we were looking for.

Day 2 - Premiership
Newcastle 2-1 Fulham
Craig Bellamy scored twice to give us a good lead as we went into the 2nd half. Fulham got back in it thanks to John Collins. His goal wasn't enough as Newcastle held firm for another 30 minutes. Still a 100% record which I'll take anyday. Steve Caldwell played a canny match.

Day 3 - Premiership
Newcastle 3-1 Charlton
Chris Bassedas ran the show today. His double-strike against a 10-man Charlton, helped us get the points. Warren Barton also found the net. Once again, Steve Caldwell played his part. What's gannin' on!?

Dunno whats up with these screenshots.

Day 5 - Premiership
Newcastle 3-0 Derby
Shearer continued his form with another double. His first came after 5 minutes. Bassedas netted a strike in first half injury time to extend our lead. Shearer wrapped it up with 10 minutes left. Great team performance which was marred by the injury of Steve Caldwell.

Updates will come thick and fast 'cos I want to start my second season.

Day 7 - Premiership
Arsenal 2-0 Newcastle
It was all going so well until Henry and Bergkamp hammered us. London hammerings are common for this side but we'll banish this jinx yet! Dabizas got injured and Aaron Hughes tackled like a limp prawn.

Day 8 - Premiership
Newcastle 1-0 Southampton
We bounced right back from the Highbury defeat by beating the blokes from the south coast. Shearer scored the only goal early on and our defence was rock solid. Marcelino got man of the match. Wow!

Day 9 - Premiership
Blackburn 0-1 Newcastle
Same old Shearer. Always scoring. Once more he provided the only goal of the game. Everyone, apart from Rob Lee and Steve Caldwell, pulled their weight. Clarence Acuna proved to be solid and got man of the match.

Day 11 - Premiership
Newcastle 1-1 Everton
What better way to follow up the Mersey thumping than to drop points against the blue side of Liverpool? Damn. Shearer put us in the lead only for a former magpie to cancel it out. Burglar beating Duncan Ferguson was on hand to give Everton a point. Gavilan got man of the match. Nice one.

Day 12 - Worthington Cup
Newcastle 4-1 Fulham
Newcastle just about shown everyone that we would take this seriously. Shearer grabbed a hat-trick and Carl Cort marked his return with a goal. Sylvian Legwinski gave the Cottagers something to write home about but they're out. Jo Lescott didn't excel in todays game but Shearer, rightfully gets man of the match.

Day 13 - Premiership
Newcastle 5-0 Ipswich
If anyone told me, before the match, that Steve Caldwell would score twice, I'd shoot them in the foot. Fortunately, I didn't and he did! After Shearer opened the scoring just after the break, Caldwell took a penalty to score his first goal of the season. Craig Bellamy netted our 3rd just before the hour and Caldwell grabbed his 2nd after a well-taken corner. Not to be outdone, Shearer scored his 2nd to finish off the Tractor blokes. Any highlight for Ipswich fans? Jay-Jay Okocha's dismissal, in the first half, just about made my day.

I just got my fixtures in a muddle

After Fulham came this:

F**k you, London!
Chelsea 1-3 Newcastle
Shearer fired us into a 2 goal lead. Then Mr. Petit got one back for the home side. Laurent 'Give me some bigger wages' Robert grabbed out 3rd to set us on our way to banishing the London jinx. Robert got man of the match but that's not gonna stop me from selling the git at the first opportunity.

Our 3rd match against a London side was against Spurs.

Newcastle 4-1 Spurs
Chris Bassedas and Rob Elliott got 2 goals within the first 10 minutes to make the Londoner wish they never strayed from White Hart Lane. Shearer got on the scoresheet before the half-hour but Spurs mounted a comeback when Neil Maddison got one back for them. the comeback lasted all of 6 minutes before Laurent Robert scored to finish off those geezers. Shearer got man of the match.

Barton, Shearer (2) and Bellamy got the other goals.

Day 15 - Worthington Cup
Newcastle 1-0 Wigan
Chris Bassedas scored the eventual winner against a 10-man Wigan side. Gavilan was man of the match but we really should've had more goals.

Day 16 - Premiership

Newcastle 0-1 West Ham
Enjoy it Gareth! Titi (hehe) Camara got the only goal of the game. They made the most of their chances. Keiron Dyer was man of the match.

Day 17 - Premiership
Bolton 2-2 Newcastle
More last minute agony as we were held to a draw by some blokes. Newcastle we're 2-0 up thanks to an Ainsworth own goal and a Dyer strike. With 5 minutes to go, it went wrong. Warhurst and Hendry stunned us to give Bolton a point. Jaaskelainen will pay.

Day 18 - Worthington Cup
And then there was eight .....

Charlton 0-2 Newcastle
London suffered another defeat at the hand of our friends in the north. Marcelino struck the net after 20 minutes and Lua-Lua netted a second shortly afterwards. Through to a semi-final against Leeds.:f***:
