Emerson ‘quotes’ were not Real
Juventus midfielder Emerson has rubbished reports that he is interested in a summer move to Real Madrid.
The Brazilian was yesterday quoted as saying that “he would like to play for Real” but he today insists that is not true.
“I never said what has been reported,” said the summer signing from Roma as he committed his future to Juve.
“I was asked for my opinion about Real’s interest in me and I simply stated that a move would be impossible.
“That is because I have just arrived at Juventus and I have signed a four-year contract with them.”
The former Bayer Leverkusen ace has been strongly associated with a Liga switch but a move now looks even more unlikely than it did on Thursday.
“I simply confirmed that I have great respect for a club like Real, as I do for all other big sides,” added the South American.
“But I also underlined that I am committed to Juventus for a long time. That is something that I am profoundly proud of.”
The Italian giants are also unlikely to release Emerson given his impact at the Stadio Delle Alpi.
He has quickly settled in Turin, thanks also to his understanding with ex-Roma boss Fabio Capello, and has been instrumental in the club’s success so far this term.
