you can tell defenders to mark concrete players in Individual -> Mark Settings, they probably have set Zone Marking
also if you set Zone Press starategy they will approach the opponent ball carrier
or if you press square+X, all players near opponent with ball will be cover him (how long it's depend on selected type 1,2 or 3 - higher number=better covering but they will be faster tired)

PPS. if you compress your replays with virtual dub, you can set higher framerate (Video ->Framerate ->Change to -> eg. 50 or 60) to make your final movie smoother

So unlucky u didn't understand what the mark setting means. Zone marking means the defender will automatically mark a attacter who enter his defending zone. Whenever u set zone mark or man mark the defenders should mark the arrackers, but as the videos show no attacter were marked at all. A right mark should be like that the defender stay very close to an attacter which means the mark setting in pes3 doesn't works properly.

I don't have any probs with defending either. I think the defender's running is terrible. Fifa 2004 is much better.

1. Why on FIFA the most famous left footers like Vieri are right footed ??? ( fact : since 1998 PES had been able to deliver the most authentic details in player`s real-life behaviour, PES wins in details and authenticity . . . )
2. Why in FIFA I can always score from the same spot from 40 yards out ???
3. But FIFA has all the licenses and the real kits . . . ( **** IT !!!! I can patch PES in just minutes and the game is now 150 times better than FIFA . . . )
4. Why can`t I direct the header in FIFA ??? ( Cos` the heading system sucks . . . )
5. Why can`t I chip lob the goalkeeper ??? ( again, cos` FIFA sucks, it tooks years for them to understand what chipping the ball over is all about . . . )
6. But PES don`t have individual teeth like FIFA 2004 . . . ( again, it`s a freakin` football game, who gives a **** about teeth )
7. Why in FIFA Keown can run as fast as Owen ( Cos` their attributes skill level means squat, it`s only numbers . . . )
8. Why the boots looks blurry in FIFA ??? ( Cos` their boots format sucks compared to PES 3 . . . )
9. But FIFA has more league . . . ( seriously, who gives a flying **** about a 3000 pounds budgeted third division club in middle southern Ireland ??? )
10. FIFA is more editable . . . ( why edit it if it is so fun ??? )

BTW, IMO FIFA is still 5 or more years behind WE/PES.
In FIFA:
- Everthing is scripted trigger event.
- Poor AI(ok, if you like to play Pinball then its a different story :P).
- FIFA graphic looks awful, its look like they just take a photo of each player and stick their face on a 3D model(and also, everyone got a BIG head LOL).

FIFA can gain to that big, it is because Konami didn't invest on PC market and licensing. BUT NOW, the world has changed, PES3 release on PC market, and there is Tons of people switch over to PES3 and FIFA goes to the bin :P oh, hehe, Konami gonna make PES4 full license and online play, fear it and eat the dust, FIFA ~

Oh Yeah, like Mayor said: "if you don't like pes, simply don't play it!"

Just play what game you feel more comfortable mate But my advice is PES = best soccer game(before PES4 release)

Well ,IMO Fifa is still behind the likes of Sensible Soccer and Kick Off 2 in terms of playability

I agree that Fifa is years behind PES but only in terms of gameplay. There is one thing PES can never match Fifa, that is you can never play club football with its original set of players in the Master League. You always starts with a bunch of unknown and by the time you build your team, the players in your team are actually players that you bought from other teams. For example, if you choose to play as Real Madrid, you can never have Ronaldo in it. Is this realism?

In my humble opinion, I believe that all Fifa followers know that PES has a better gameplay. They love Fifa for its licences and leagues and other things etc.

A poser for PES fans, if you are satisfied with the game, why patch it with names and kits etc. Deep down, most of them would prefer to have licences etc. Hence, please don,t compare the two games. They cater to different group of gamers.

FIFA for FIFA fans, PES for soccer fans That is the different :P

PES couldn't get all the licences yet, but they promise will be fully licences on PES4 Most people(maybe all) like the idea of Master leagues in PES, you have to work your way to build up your team, that give a bit of challenging. IF you want a full real team, go to Leagues/Cup mode.

I wondering, is there anyone will play a unpatched FIFA? People still need to do a lot of patchs on FIFA to get it working, so what is the point of Licences LoL ~~ And you still have to face the poor gameplay, It seems EA put all their money invest on license and marketing rather than improve the poor gameplay. I doubt there still have people satisfied to buy FIFA just for the licences, its totally waste of money.

Yes, I play Fifa without patching. I don't believe in patching. It is my philosophy to accept thing that it is, be it good or bad. Fifa's gameplay may be scripted and has its flaws but it is still decent enough to play.

If one doesn't care about licences, why wish for full licencing in PES4? As I said in my previous post, the games are catered for different group of gamers. Anyway, I don't really like to play games that require buttons combo to pull off a variety of tricks.

Well, nothing to say for your special case then LOL Just enjoy playing FIFA mate :P I'm just trying to give my advice, and FIFA just not worth for me to mention anymore, its only can consider as an *Action* game.

btw, couldn't believe there still have some hardcore FIFA fans out there LOL IMO, just give PES a few more try, you may not like it at the first few times, but eventually, once you learn more the game, you will Love it. Unlike FIFA, the more you play = the more you hate the game!

We do care about licenses, the thing is we put it as second priority compared to gameplay, and the individual teeth as 56789132nd priority . . .

And as for the button combos, I think it`s ironic. Cos` we all know that even to put a single through pass in FIFA we are required to use the right analog stick, plus the triangle button and we still have to control the non-controlling ball player to the free area, while in PES we only need to press triangle . . . Not to mention that to do different skill moves in FIFA we need to press L1 plus more other right analog combos . . .

BTW, IMO FIFA is still 5 or more years ahead WE/PES.
In PES3:
- You can't do anyting, all were decided by computer.
- Poor AI, look at the avi files that i refered.
- PES graphic looks awful, its look like cartoon. WE/PES3 enlarge the players. cheater, see attached picture.

PES3 was defeated in the market again this year. WE7I changed a lot, it's now FIFA style.

If u don't like fifa, don't decry it. Most of ur talking points are coming from rumor.

I play both game. I spend a lot of time investigate them. My conclusion is FIFA better.
