What's going on at Arsenal this season is bizarre. Letting Vieira go to me seemed like the right move. He was getting old, and you could see signs of him falling short on occassions. It also meant the younger players would be given a chance to come through, i.e. Fabrigas playing a far more prominant role in the starting XI - which yes has happened and yes has yielding positives - but Fabrigas isn't Vieira. He doesn't have the stature and strength that Vieira had, and although Gilberto Silva has the strength to play that position, he has had to adapt his game slightly this season in order to do what Vieira did so as to support Fabrigas. He's not a tackler though, and I think it's a shame Gilberto has recieved bad press this season, because he's not been able to play his natural game.
Far too many defeats and draws though this season, and as they say, results don't lie. Only theirselves to blame I'm afraid. Hopefully they'll improve their squad in the summer and start the new chapter at The Emirates Stadium well.
