As mentioned in both Liverpool and Owen to RM threads ,such a trade is not possible because 1)the ship has sailed as far as Madrid are concerned and 2)To trade a player ,a club must own him and Madrid doesn't.And they can't anymore.Plus ,even if there were possiblities that they ignore the deadline and still sign him ,they can't because they have 3 non-EU.Even if they'll sell him immediately ,they can't sign him.

Eto'o will be in FC Barcelona soon.

Excellent.......then Real Madrid will learn the difference between signing the best marketed player as opposed to the best players..... On the field the popularity of your players makes little difference to the score ;)

That was before.Now ,the club can't have more than 3 non-EU.Not just on the field.
If it was still allowed to have more than 3 non-EU at the club ,then Madrid would sign Eto'o and let him rot on the bench.But you've not read anywhere that it's an option because it isn't.
The article at skysports says how Madrid can't sign him even the deadline is ignored and Eto'o agrees a deal because only Barca are in a position to sign another non-EU.That's why Laporta was so sure that Madrid won't do anything ,even 24 hrs before deadline.

Well, we had to raise the offer 3m but we avoid more problems. It's a big bet of Laporta/Txiki/Rosell, I hope he answers with a goal per million ;)
